hi, is there anything I can do about one of the tags getting prepended to the question, thus making my Firefox tabs indistinguishable? As if SO was already not annoying enough!
While SOIS might not want to do it, we, as the user, can. And the script is absolutely ridiculously simple - so simple that I'm surprised nobody has posted it yet. Ah well, free Meta rep here I come:
// ==UserScript==
// @name StackExchange Title Tag Remover
// @namespace yijiang
/...
@balpha Does this fix also take care of this issue? If so, it might also take care of the one I linked to in the comments there, but that could be something else too..
Also note that additional scroll bars appear if there are long lines in a code block containing empty lines:
Create list
Add code:
function() {
// here we do lot's of stuff, and because comments are evil we get strange scrollbars displayed
}

@TheNeedsMoarJqueryException I happen to be, I'm just putting off a hard thing till after lunch, then I'm gonna be ex-communicado for four or five hours
Had a look at the reasons for prepending a tag to the page title - which is said to be to prevent site scrapers ranking first. I can't see why this would help though, wouldn't they just scrape the new titles and end up ranking the same?
ah, ok - but wouldn't a scraper just change their scripts to prepend the tag the same way SO does? Or is information on tag popularity not part of the dump?
@romkyns The problem is that they already do, which is why some of them have higher SEO rankings. Of course there are other methods, but this is a simple and obvious one.
@TheNeedsMoarJqueryException I tried to @-mention you the other day, but for some reason I had your old name in the auto-complete cache thingadongdong, and I got a few letters in, said "Screw it", and gave up.
@TheNeedsMoarJqueryException Yeah, but you never know who might get pinged instead...and I couldn't remember exactly what you had changed it to beyond "The" :P
Woot! I have now passed @MarcGravell and reached the #4 position in chat, surpassed only by @balpha @RebeccaChernoff and @JeffAtwood. I can now resume actual productive work again.
I know good and well I made some "populate default data" scripts in these databases and they AREN'T HERE ... damnit DBAs I'm not just bored you know, they have a purpose
Early congratulations on becoming the next Assistant Community Coordinator, @TheNeedsMoarJqueryException! (I wasn't going to call attention to your... unfortunate position... before, but since you did....)
Ok, I saw others discussion this before, but I forgot the result. If I address @Michael right now, does Michael Petrotta or Michael Mrozek get notified?
(It should be @MichaelMrozek because I addressed him last, but, he shows up second in the tab-complete list)
@TheNeedsMoarJqueryException Michael Petrotta will probably stab you when he sees 15 entries in his inbox that have nothing to do with him. Also Michael Myers, and if there's anybody who knows how to stab people it's him
@MichaelMrozek I'll be on my guard then, thanks for the heads up.
@TylerChacha Another useful tip, thanks
@MichaelMrozek I notice you didn't use the @MichaelMyers form when mentioning that he has knowledge of how to stab people. I take it you fear for your life? ;-)

I've seen design elements on webpages that contain a "bent paper" effect. In other words, it looks like the paper is shaped in an arch, based on the visual perception of the shadow.
How do I achieve this? (Please post a screenshot if possible.)

I found an image:
