@Derpy We are not parenting.se and if I understand the 13 year rule correctly it only exists because the law requires that (or have a complex sign-up procedure). So without the law the sites would be open to anyone. If something is just bad-taste or plain abusive is for the site community to judge. Although I do agree that some post titles better kept on one community and not shared in the HNQ list.

Man, I expect that would attract a lot of non-13 year olds ... might be handy as a honeypot ...
@rene The problem is that SE is responsible for the contents it host, and I think it can't claim a "It was the user fault for looking, not ours"
10:28
@Derpy I just checked wikipedia, they host the same stuff ... what is the problem?
There are quite a lot of "mature" questions on religion sites, and still 13 y.o can access them, so...
@rene Quick example. I don't know if it is still the case, but I know that I never joined Anime.SE because it used to allow question about identification of mature material... and as a result the question list was crawling with them. I was wondering if that was a problem or not in regards to the users ages.
It's even browsable on all ages (i.e. from search engine)
@Derpy it still depends. If a site wants to cater for that kind of stuff and a large enough subset of the visitors feel comfortable with it AND not that many complaints are raised on meta AND it isn't only bad taste AND you at least do your best to understand that minors might have a problem with that content, I see no problem
I can imagine a special tag that you can put on you ignore list
(Off-topic, but has been nuked and blacklisted since a while on Anime & Manga)
10:35
I do agree that such doubtful content should not be pushed in your face.
And if that doesn't work then yes, you have to accept the occasional run into bad things, just like what would happen in real life when you take the wrong route through town...

@rene oh, rene, I think you must have misunderstood my point. What I meant here is that while the original post was probably a little over the line with the "I will report the question to the anty-terrorism agency" style part, I was still wondering if SE shouldn't actually have some responsibility in limiting exposition of younger users to certain categories of content.

Q: Please tell me what reputation comes from documentation

NealHonestly -- I really do not like that I get reputation from documentation -- it pads peoples rep and I really do not know what it represents in the grand scheme of things. But Since we are stuck with it anyway, Can there be some way on the reputation page from me to see what rep I got from Docs...

Hopefully ^ this gets somewhere.
user202362
14:21
Oh well, if this succeeds then people who have obtained reps from documentations will be disappointed ...
@amanaPlanaCAnalPAnaMA If you get 30 upvotes in the next 15 minutes, yes.
Or maybe from the next 15 minutes since the next 30, 'cause we have to give it time to show on the billboard.
Documentation is also on the SOCVR room meeting tonight, mostly because we have a minimal rep requirement but if that is all obtained from docs I'm not sure if that also means you can be trusted with Q/A moderation.
@TIPS Ha... This is just getting silly. I should not get rep for a topic that looks nothing like the original topic I wrote...

Can I get a gut check on how to handle a bounty in this case? stackoverflow.com/questions/38402443/…
I posted a bounty, and someone posted an answer which was totally untested. (Syntactically incorrect, even with the syntax errors fixed it didn't actually solve the problem)
But the answer was useful to me; it helped me figure out the answer on my own.
I replied in comments saying "hey, update your answer and I'll give you the bounty" but the original author didn't do it
We're still in the grace period so I technically still can give them the bounty. But but but I feel weird about giving the bounty to somebody who didn't actually solve the problem.
WDYT? Should I pay out? Just let the bounty expire? There's no way to award "partial credit" on a bounty, is there?
user315433
There can be a partial award of the answer gets up to 2 of higher. But that seems unlikely.
You've accepted teh answer. In that case, the full value will be awarded
> If the bounty starter accepted an answer during the bounty period, that answer is awarded the bounty (provided that the answer was posted during the bounty period). Answers accepted before the bounty period are not eligible to be awarded the bounty automatically.
user315433
I would probably edit the other user's answer to bring it up to the standards, then award bounty to it.

Any one use Bosun? If so, I'm curious to here how well the OpenTSDB portion scales. I imagine SE is happy with it, but I have an IT department that just completely canceled a project that depended on it because "it won't scale". I suspect we don't have nearly as much data as SE, unless they aren't storing as much as I think they are.
@Andy "I imagine SE is happy with it" - I hope so, they created it. :)
They didn't create OpenTSDB
(honestly, I just know bosun uses that, I don't know exactly what it does)
Oh. If I remember correctly, Nick was complaining about OpenTSDB a while back.
@aran384 Bosun/scollector is feeding OpenTSDB
@aran384 It's the backend for Bosun currently, so already have it full of data - though we're looking at other options to move to as well.

A: Can we please introduce more reputation limits for examples on Documentation

Shog9We're definitely going to fix this. Kevin and others will be discussing the particulars this week, though it may be a bit longer before anything gets rolled out (as the variety of suggested changes here demonstrates, there are a lot of factors that should be taken into consideration). Once change...

There will be a post from me, soon, which more clearly lays out what we envisioned with the rep system for docs as it was launched. The goals are really good, balance is tricky. As Shog noted, we're going to have to do a recalc, so we've got to be really careful to not inadvertently make the balance a bigger issue than it is - which means this is going to be at least a few weeks. I'll be posting this week at some point, there's a lot of stones to turn over before we can say we've turned 'em all, and a breadth-first search comes in quite handy there. — Tim Post ♦ 1 hour ago

Reading through to see if anything important happened or if it was like last time's...
Funny thing is, I only used iTunes to buy an album... Which was DRM'd, so I couldn't play it in anything else... And eventually ended up re-buying from somewhere else. Or stripping the DRM off of. Or both. I forget. Anyway, I did something rash in frustration and then never used it again.
