problem can no longer be reproduced ^
That's a stretch.
Also a waste of your votes. We'll delete the post tomorrow either way, but it has to stay up long enough for folks to see it.
ok, i'll retract
I'm being lazy and taking SE life easy today. Expect no help of any kind for anything from me today. :)
but my plant is on it's last leg :( , I've been feeding it red bull to try to shock it back, but it's not working :(
@cVplZ There's your problem. Red Bull gives you wings, not legs.

@cVplZ knows how to fix everything

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
17 days of MSE, and I get gold.
More days, that is..
user273376
@Rafflesiaarnoldii I see
@Haney Since search is on the mind; shameless plug meta.stackexchange.com/questions/223880/…
I'm an expert in why processing sorted arrays is faster than unsorted arrays now, though.
@AnnaLear Lies. You're so gullible, just a blind consumer like the rest of the SHEEPLE!
user259867
@cVplZ Most plants have only one leg, so that is normal.
user273376
00:20
my plants were wiped out by a recent storm
@Rafflesiaarnoldii Anything scientific you got to back up that claim? :)
@SabreTooth Sorry, still won't help.
user273376
@Frank nah, they're gone and dusted - it was a bad storm
@Frank I don't think he wants to share anyways
Neither do I.
user273376
am thinking to delete an account or to just let it be ballast
user273376
00:22
@Braiam excuse me?
@SabreTooth Try not to delete accounts.
user259867
@SabreTooth Deletion is fun. I did it a few times. Do it.
@SabreTooth Don't do it
user259867
@SabreTooth DO IT
@SabreTooth Don't do it!
user273376
00:23
i already have deleted accounts earlier...but this situation is quite different
@SabreTooth GL?
user273376
@Frank no
I haz 131 accounts.
user273376
i can't do that
00:24
@SabreTooth Good - you're valuable.
I hope not ES.
@SabreTooth y?
user273376
@Frank not a chance...i like ES
user259867
@Frank There's a new Economics site, and you don't have an account there.
user273376
and feel marginally useful there
user273376
@Frank can't contribute to most of them
@SabreTooth That doesn't mean you can't have accounts there.
For upvoting, commenting, flagging, etc.
00:26
@Rafflesiaarnoldii Don't I?
I have 40 accounts with > 101
(I usually just create accounts as necessary, and I have 74 by now.)
@SabreTooth You can flag spam and OT stuff like I do.
user273376
i am a member of only 8....thinking of downsizing to 5
Heh, I only have 33/74 accounts with >101 rep (many from suggested edits), and 15 with ≥200.
00:28
I only have 6, I learned 6 is the max I can efficiently troll at one time
user259867
An important threshold is 150. Then you can vote in mod elections.
@SabreTooth I'd encourage you not to delete accounts that you have rep on, just so you can be responsible.
user273376
all of my accounts are above 200
I only have 4 accounts with 150 ≤ rep < 200.
My lowest account is at 1.
00:29
@Frank Lol, how? Lots of downvotes?
user273376
my lowest is A51 at 201
I have only 251 at A51.
I have over 20k on only one site, though.
user273376
i helped with the beta at HSM... did a pretty crap job
@SabreTooth I'm planning to help along coffee, and woodworking, if they ever go into pb.
I just recently got my 2nd and 3rd sites with 20k.
You know, this would be a lot easier if we just linked to our profiles. :P
00:33
@Doorknob I always like to see MSE rep in folks profiles.
user273376
@Frank i posted about 20+ in meta HSM and 25 (2 deleted) in the main site there - not a nice recent experience
@SabreTooth My condolences...
I'm embarrassed by my profile lately. My SO activity usually comes in waves but it's been a long time since the last wave. I have shamefully low rep for the amount of time I've been a member and the amount of bitching I do on meta.
I wish you got rep for chatting.
user273376
@Frank ha ha ha
00:36
I heard you can cash in 10 stars for 500 rep, but I think it was a scam.
I have way more fun flagging spam than answering crappy Java questions and functioning as a Google relay server anyways.
@SabreTooth ɐɥ ɐɥ ɐɥ
user273376
i was even likened to Ron Maimon.....so, I am apparantly rude too
Actually, since I'm apparently on this userscript-crazed mission to learn JavaScript lately, I guess I could benefit from answering some JS questions.
@SabreTooth If you think you're rude... Meet me!

00:38
The tag predictor says I hate jQuery, though. I'm not sure if I want to argue with it.
user273376
I could never contribute effectively to SO, not in a million years
user273376
@Frank that's Dr. Puddinghead to you
@SabreTooth Even by flagging junk?
user273376
i wouldn't know what is junk or not, I am pretty dumb
@JasonC How about you answer the one I just asked? (Sidenote: I asked a question on SO. It got an upvote. This is amazing! We need to record this in the books of history! A (real) question got upvoted on Stack Overflow!)
00:39
@SabreTooth On SO just assume junk; you'll have about a 95% success rate, possibly higher if you stick to .
@SabreTooth Okay then, Dr. Headpudding...
And don't worry, you don't actually have to be able to understand the questions.
user273376
dang, android is the only programming I have marginal aptitude in
user259867
My recent contributions to SO were moving closed questions with no answers from +1 to 0. An example: "SOLVED: wow, I had wifi turned off which was preventing it from using my local network".
@Doorknob Oh good one; challenge accepted, after a smoke break, and assuming somebody who actually knows what they're talking about doesn't jump in first.
00:41
@SabreTooth Nah, it's easy. Find a question blatantly asking for recommendations for something, and flag it. That's mostly how I got my Marshal badge.
I'm still the only SO user to have that badge without asking or answering anything, or editing.
Still 101 rep.
2
Oh, there you go, star everything I say.
... oh the temptation
:D
I'll just jump on the bandwagon and star the thing that already has 2 stars.
3 syars, huh?
Yes, you bought the company South Yorkshire Animal Rescue 3 times. (Wow, not sure why you would waste so much money on all that, but it was your decision.)
(... how do you even buy something multiple times? :P)
user259867
00:48
Maybe the question should be also tagged ? Using only and seems too generic.
@Doorknob Oh, they had a $5 rebate for each time you buy it.
GL's highest voted comments are both at +15, but one is better than the other.

@SabreTooth Well, not if you put effort into it, like most people don't...
good effort, that is...
user273376
00:55
i alwys put effort in my posts
user273376
takes me 1-3 hours usually to write an answer
@SabreTooth On GL, it takes me an average of 3-10 mins - so there you go...
@SabreTooth Now this one took almost 20 mins, so is an exception.
user273376
@Frank but remember, I am as dumb as a bo of rocks
a bo of rocks?
user273376
00:59
SEE? a box of rocks
@SabreTooth You're one BIG box of rocks, then. :P
@Frank I suspect you might be the only person on the entire SE network with that distinction. I've only checked a handful of the sites though.
There should really be a special badge for that, lol.
@JasonC if anyone else does, @jan probably does
@Rafflesiaarnoldii Haha, nice. I swear I just checked drupal.
user273376

@Frank yes, the dumb kind
Oh, duh. I switched to drupal but forgot to run the query... facepalm

question - is having 12 revival and 3 necromancer badges from just 31 answers a bad thing?
"Use a backtick to add inline code which contents don't get parsed." is this correct grammar?
@SabreTooth Meh. Not necessarily.
@SabreTooth What answer do you expect? Of course it's bad!
01:10
What? Why?
It's possible for them to not be bad.
user273376
I made sure the answers were researched
Because obviously, SE designed badges to get awarded when you do bad things, right? So, the answer to his question is 'bad'.
user273376
hmmm sorry I asked
@SabreTooth Me being sarcastic, sorry.
@bjb568 IS IT?!?!?!
@Frank It is irregular behavior which could mean bad behavior.
user273376
01:13
huh?
@bjb568 No. It means someone was working on old questions and is getting rightfully rewarded.
But working on old question could mean rep-whoring.
Then again anything could.
user273376
hmmm never intended to do 'rep-whoring'
@SabreTooth I've seen your work, and it's legit - don't listen to the cat...
Sorry @bjb568 :P
I'm saying getting that many badges isn't a good thing. But it doesn't mean your answers are low-quality. High-quality answers are indicated by their… quality. Not badges.
@bjb568 assumes yes
user273376
01:17
i doubt the quality in everything I do (side effect of a decade and half of teaching), that's why i ask
@bjb568 No. It is incorrect both grammatically and structurally. You need "whose" not "which": "Use a backtick to add inline code whose contents don't get parsed."
@bjb568 true. But I know the user's work, and it is above SE average.
@Frank Which is not much. But yes, my point is the quality is the most important.
@bjb568 And structurally, that's still wrong, since the backticks cause the contents to not be parsed, rather than being an indicator of "code whose contents should not be parsed" (outside of that context).
I would say something like "To indicate code and prevent it from being parsed, enclose it in backticks."
Or "Use backticks to indicate code, this will prevent it from being parsed."
"Enclose code in backticks to prevent it from being parsed."? (to match style)
01:21
Oh, and "get parsed" isn't right either. "don't get parsed" => "should not be parsed".
user273376
my motives are to provide at last-acceptable answers to questions that I have some knowledge in - i assure all, it is not badge or rep 'whoring'
^bjb getting less than an 83 in English again
@bjb568 Yeah, that looks good, although it doesn't encourage unparseable code from being placed in backticks, which you probably also want to express. E.g. it suggests backticks as a workaround for code that is inappropriately parsed, rather than suggesting backticks for formatting code in general (and treating the no-parsing is a side-effect).
The primary purpose of enclosing code in backticks is to format code. It not being parsed is a desirable side-effect.
@SabreTooth Hmm, maybe I'm a rep-whore on GL? ;)
(And really, along those lines, I should have wrote, "Use backticks to indicate code, this will also prevent it from being parsed" earlier.)
user273376
01:25
@Frank not at all
@Frank You have quality.
@Uni you were an audit
@SabreTooth With well over twice the rep of next user this quarter, etc, etc,
@JasonC Aghaghagh too complicated, I'm splitting it up…
user273376
01:26
@Frank you do quality work, far better than I am able to do
But I must be a badge whore, I have the most gold badges of any user on GL.
@SabreTooth Nah, I just know stuff.
@bjb568 "Encode close in parsebacks. It won't not get ticks."
user273376
@Frank no you earned them
ZEH CODEZ IN ZEH BAKTIKZ R KEWL N NO R PARSED
@SabreTooth Yeah, but I tried to. Look at Bamboo, who doesn't care a whit about badges, has more rep than me, and no gold. (Also far fewer accepted answers, but I didn't just say that...)

A: How do trees respond to solid, isolated, chunks of minerals such as iron, placed in the root zone?

J. MusserUnfortunately, you cannot substitute the iron for just any mineral. Iron is a big part of soil, see my answer here: Is rust from steel rainwater barrel harmful?
