23:00
Google's APIs as a periodic table of elements.
Four hours on the phone, whew.
@TimStone ewwww
@GeorgeMarian yeah, @DanGrossman shared that the other night, quite interesting ... didn't realize they were so diverse
wonders if he's the only one still waiting on tax documents for filing with ... :/
@drachenstern Nope, I'm still waiting on...something.
@drachenstern Yeaaaaah yawns Was pretty productive, but my mind shuts down after talking for that long.
Well, I'm gonna take my nephew to go see Green Hornet tonight, which means I get to drive for an hour and a half or more :\
@TimStone, any luck with the userscript+Chrome?
23:09
So much for designing a website prototype this weekend :(
@RebeccaChernoff It's officially on my to-do list for tonight..I just need to take a mental break first. :)
I still have absolutely zero idea what the issue is, but hopefully I can make it work one way or another.
What's the behavior?
I meant to look to see if there were a lot of issues reported with it.
Or rather how the issue is an issue since it seems relatively impossible.
@drachenstern No free time?
@TimStone watching the nephew all weekend
23:11
Eh, Chrome complains that a variable is undefined until I log said variable, then it no longer complains.
Ah.
what line, what file?
It's in livequery, I forget where.
Worked fine before, so it's some issue with the latest Chrome dev release.
@TimStone so it's in the pasted in chunk of code from the other library?
We originally were pulling in the whole actual script, and now I embedded it with the same result.
I think Chrome is screwing up the scope or something, I'll have to investigate more.
maybe there will be a quick dev release
23:13
I'm hoping so, not having to look into it would be much easier ;)
Although I have a lot of other userscript things that I refuse to not get done this weekend too ;)
which file is it in? all of them?
nothing, I thought you said you embedded it, then i read the source
Ah, no, only in my local copy.
Ahhh
well fine :p
23:19
(I needed to put in the log statement to see why it wasn't defined, only when I did that it decided it was :P)
k, 15 minutes and I'm leaving ... probably for the weekend :(
lol, that sucks
@drachenstern Well, try to have a nice time with your nephew at least.
We normally do
:)
As for me, time for some Forza, then userscript stuff, then back to taming those frameworks I suppose, heheh.
And now I've got the night to myself, they forgot he has football (or is it soccer) tryouts in the AM so I suppose I am going to do some mockups.
Either that or I'm going to enter FogBugz tickets

A: Any soft release dates for Stack Overflow chat?

Jeff AtwoodWell, to be fair to the OP, Stack Overflow is the only place where we do not have chat house ads enabled -- which increases the visibility of chat substantially.

> we're a little afraid to deploy the chat ad on Stack Overflow because it's so large..
saywhat? Are they afraid the infrastructure won't support a sudden massive influx of new people?
23:24
It's possible that the chat ad itself may cause trouble :P
How is it that 2 THCs have their best fit time match at the same time? |:
@RebeccaChernoff that sounds totally logical, however unfair it is
@RebeccaChernoff THC?
Town Hall Chat (:
ah
Makes sense. Weekends and work schedules are usually the same for the average person
23:26
Ah, that makes a bit more sense. I thought it was "Town Hall Candidates", and I was confused why their overlapping times were an issue, heh.
If it were two smaller ones I'd probably be ok running both at the same time. But I have a feeling the SOTHC is gonna need my 100% attention.
@RebeccaChernoff I think you are right
Will just do them one after the other. Oh boy.
@RebeccaChernoff When are the times?
SO's will be Sunday at 8pm UTC / 3pm EST I'm a'thinking.
23:34
Ug, I was caught up on the phone for a whole hour witha customer
Okie dokie, gotta clear my calendar
Thanks
Didn't get to finish up anything I was trying to finish this afternoon!
@RebeccaChernoff Is there anything I can do to help? Maybe my lack of modship prevents this but I am glad to do anything I can!
You can feel fre to contact me offsite if you need to
I think it'll be ok. CSTheory will go first, and that will be a smaller one. It may not even go the full hour as I'm told they don't really use chat, so who knows who will show up. Then SO will go next and I can concentrate on that and if people stick around and it goes long I won't have to scurry off.
Well if nothing else, I will help star questions :-)
@RebeccaChernoff I think it's gonna be chaos...That's my prediction.
23:37
But seriously, I am happy to do anything I can, even helping you with the summary afterwards
@JustinjjnguyNelson I'm thinking the same thing :-)
I'm also secretly glad it is on a Sunday/weekend...less traffic may just make it manageable. hopes prays
@JustinjjnguyNelson Were you at the ServerFault one?
@RebeccaChernoff That will deff help.
Agreed
@Josh No. But I tried reading the transcript. Pretty crazy
23:39
@JustinjjnguyNelson Yeah. You want to talk crazy? I tried chatting in the room during it! :-)
@RebeccaChernoff, are you open to a different format?
Well, however it turns out. I'm looking forward to it.
Same here!
I need to sway some voters! :)
hehe
@Josh, I've been pondering it but I'm leaning towards rolling with an open format.
@RebeccaChernoff Here's what I'm thinking as a possible alternative, and keep in mind I am just brainstorming: Maybe two rooms, one a gallery where only the candidates can talk, and a second a free-for-all. Everyone joins both rooms, and the questions get asked by everyone in the free-for-all, and you (or other mods) ask them one by one, by moving them, in the gallery...
This would allow each candicate to address each question once in the gallery, and then discussion to happen in the open room
but, it will be possibly more confusing and thus less will participate :-(
23:43
2 rooms at a time. Can't say I've ever done that before.
Hoepfully you'd only ever need to talk in the gallery once every few minutes
each question gets asked there sequentially and you answer each one once. Then answer followups and discussion in the free for all
Hmm, I kinda like that idea. It might be confusing though.
Yeah. I can't find a way around the confusing part
Thoughts @RebeccaChernoff?
@Josh My guess is she is draftin emails to the candidates.
@JustinjjnguyNelson I think you're right :-)
So if you want one more vote @Justin, convince me that @MichaelMrozek is a horrible candidate and I should vote for you instead of him ;-)
I'm torn between him and Lasse for my #1 choice

Q: 2011 Moderator Elections - Town Hall Chat: 8pm UTC on the 30th

Rebecca ChernoffIn connection with the moderator elections, we will be holding a Town Hall Chat session with the candidates. This will be an opportunity for members of the community to pose questions to the candidates on the topic of moderation. Participation is completely voluntary. I am working with the can...

The only bad thing I have to say about him is that he is new. Other than that I think he'd be a good candidate. I've been a member since the beginning, and I've seen the site grow and change.
He has only been a member for 9 months.
But, I have nothing bad to say about him.
Huh, you're right, he has only been around for 9 months
For some reason I thought he was around for longer than I was, maybe just because I see him everywhere, LOL
That is probably why.
A lot can happen in a short few months. (:
@RebeccaChernoff Yey, I'm registrant #3! :-)
23:53
@RebeccaChernoff Agreed. He is great. Like I said, I have nothing bad to say about him.
@RebeccaChernoff especially these past few months!
@JustinjjnguyNelson wow, 2 years 5 months, impressive!
That is a really good selling point @Justin!
@Josh Thanks. (That's almost as old as you can get)
@Josh Lasse is older than I. (By probably a month) (But his meta participation is lacking for me)
@RebeccaChernoff sorry actually s/few/seven/
23:55
The last 206 days (:
@RebeccaChernoff is that how long chat's been around?
@RebeccaChernoff Is that how long you have been a member?
> visited 213 days, 206 consecutive
HAHA!
@RebeccaChernoff Ha. I'm at 207 consec.
23:56
I've been a member for over a year, but really only participated the last, well apparently 206 days. (:
The network is definetly a better place with you on it @RebeccaChernoff
It's absolutely a better place with you as an employee :-D
@Josh You know she can't vote for you as mod :P
LOL
I spend too much time in here to be a mod :-)
er, s/spend/waste/
goes to SO to post 135 lines of code not in a code block, followed by "Why I get NullReference?"
My goal is to chat in here enough to skip modship altogether and end up working under @Zypher ;-)
23:58
@Josh shouldn't you be in the SF chat then?
LOL. I am in there also, but in seriousness I'm joking. I love StackOverflow and all the rest of the sites, but I am a very happy business part-owner :-)
@Josh You are a part owner of SO?
