Ahh the sweet smell of custom flagging 30+ users in the morning :D
07:14
@rene one more needed
@Michelle any word why the sudden leave of jmac? :/
07:55
I almost mistook him with JNat
also, should I flag it to be ?
[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Manually reported answer: Format a SSD from Mac OS Extended to NTFS by ToMMy_PL on apple.SE
@Elias flagged, let's see if they understand my Japanese...
08:16
@Elias nah, they can't get rid of @JNat so easily, he's the Chief Spam Hunter! :P
@balpha hey long time no hear.... how is it going? You still a PM? :)
no, I went back to development
my title is "Design Developer" now
I was out for a pretty long time because I finally took my sabbatical
@balpha oh, didn't know SE gives such a thing. Nice!
So what team are you in, if I may ask? Or just "general" developer, helping wherever is needed?
Design Developer... probably not what I thought. glance at site design
@ShaWizDowArd Yeah, it's like a second bucket of vacation days. You get one week per year (starting with the second year at the company), but you have to take at least four continuous weeks (to make sure you really disconnect).
Personally I hope you'll be back on chat development. @balpha ;)
@balpha sounds like paradise, here we get 12 days per year (basic) and one more day for each year in the same place, to maximum of 20 days per year if I'm not mistaken.
08:22
@ShaWizDowArd I'm part of the design team now. Helping out with frontend implementation in whatever projects needs me at any time, helping build a component library -- so that we hopefully reach a point where @Elias doesn't have to glance at the site design anymore :) -- etc
("Here" as in most companies in Israel, not just my own.)
@balpha oh. So chat is... abandoned? :/
I remember you had some half-baked idea of allowing ping using ID and not name....
I'm not seeing a lot of priority being put into chat for right now, other than big bugfixes and stuff like that. I wouldn't call it abandoned (after all, we use it heavily internally, and stuff like the current mentorship experiment also relies on chat), but certainly maintenance mode as opposed to active development.
@balpha fair enough, and better than the apps I guess. You also take part in the mentorship, or is it only @Jeremy?
I haven't been involved in that yet (it started while I was out)
@balpha I see. Why did you return back to development? Your choice or was it required by the company, i.e. not enough developers? Either way, hope you're happy with the outcome. :)
08:32
Yeah, it was my own choice. Trying out PM was an experiment, and it was fun, but I felt the direction of growth that I see for myself is more on the dev side
Glad to hear!
While we're here, did you fix unicornify? @balpha :)
Jul 12 at 7:15, by Shadow Wizard
@balpha hey, Unicornify is dead (giving "Python 2.5 is no longer available. Please refer to https://goo.gl/aESk5L for more information." error), any chance to resurrect it?
(In case you missed it)
nah, it was already down for half of every day usually because it was over quota, and I've stopped maintaining the Python version and put a bunch of work into the Go port instead
that's what powers this:

But does it allow to give email (hash?) and get unicorn?
That was the neat part. :)
hmm.. the lower is better, more realistic hairs and tail. :)
08:37
yes, they're compatible
I actually ported Python's random number generator to Go, so I could make them compatible
that unicorn above is 741d7afd5a220c6681bed2ffc63e7d6a
@balpha nice... but is there public API? From what I saw on Github we should install it locally to get the unicorns. :(
yeah, it's just a command line app right now
Anyway, awesome job! :)
thanks

long time no see

@Michelle ooh
tho, if its a JA cm, I'm out of contention.

SO Documentation is sunsetting again?
... again?
ugh, nvm. This is the first time I see a featured meta post so long? Tagged 'feature' on 3 Aug, and it's still on today. I thought there's a limit of 7 days?
Probably mixed-up with something else...

user315433
The English and Japanese versions of Juan M's posts are slightly different. English says "Last week marked the end of Jmac’s role as the Community Manager for this site." The Japanese version suggests it was his decision: "スタック・オーバーフロー 日本語版サイトのjmac氏が先週、コミュニティマネージャー役を退任することになりました。"
@Michelle january 2016
@Michelle also single reputation point... Odd but plausible

I wonder
@Magisch: you could email that to the CMs; use the 'contact us' link and share it there! — Martijn Pieters ♦ 2 hours ago
Would that do anything positive or just annoy the CMs that I innundated them with info they already have
If it is something that needs to go to the CM team anyway I see no problem by-passing the mod step. But I'm not sure how or if the mod team will now get feedback that something fishy happened on that particular post/user.
@rene No I mean
> but I'd rather not in public
but you wrote the SEDE query for that, and that's public...?
@rene I used my apprentice-level data analysis to get this stuff. So I assume whatever I have here is something the CMs already tried internally and deemed not worth the dev time to implement into the script. In essence I'm worried that my ticket will be "Hey look at this shitty wheel I reinvented for you"
@Elias Right, but it doesn't say that in the post. It also doesn't link to it, which is to stop flyby users from opening the query and harassing users on that list
Oh, so. Well, you can only try and if your account gets nuked you know the answer was no ...
13:36
I made the meta post to maybe nudge them in the direction of implementing this by invoking public support
Since that's part of a cost-benefit analysis that I assume has already happened

1 hour later…
15:05
@rene for what it's worth I don't think you did something wrong. Providing feedback and asking for clarifications isn't hostile.
meh, when a CM leave comments, I better show I'm listening
@Magisch Is it the same thing you emailed me earlier or something else?
@AdamLear Nah, this is just the purpose that I discovered this for
I'm hunting sockpuppeteers
And I found a very effective data analysis technique to catch a ton of them the script didn't
Doesn't hurt to drop us a line then. I think you're putting a bit too much faith in what we've tried or had time to try. I don't think anyone's really touched vote fraud reversal in ... uh... years, probably.
I'm just debating if it's worth going through the backlog, given the amount of work it generates for the CMs to manually investigate all these
15:11
Sklivvvz was the last to work on it some, but that was a long time ago and I think stopped with adding a couple mod tools.
Even in the best case I can only kick it to a CM
And then I'll probably never hear about it again
@AdamLear Setting my method to a very conservative (read: very few FPs) setting using only internal data I'm getting over 3000 unresolved cases from the last 3 years alone. I bet I'd make CMs and mods violently unhappy if I flagged all those
And I bet nobody at SO has the time to go through them all
If your concern is "I'll just be telling CMs what they already know", I don't think that's something to worry about. If it's "I'll never hear about it again and I'll be wasting my time because nobody wants to see 3000 cases"... can't help you much there.
Investigating individual cases does seem pretty meh... but if you were to share your methods along with a list of suspected accounts, we could (in theory) do something more efficient than hand-checking them all. Having said that... I can't promise we'd have time to work it any time soon or incorporate your method into our code. So we're back to "it's up to you whether to contact us or not" :)
@AdamLear What I'm doing right now is flagging new cases as they come in
This is generating about 30 or so cases a week, which is already considerable for the CM these are all being escalated to
15:29
In case of vote fraud time has little weight. It's not urgent. SE won't fall apart if such a person will keep doing it for months before getting caught. What matter most is that at some point they will get caught and suspended. :)
16:23
When is the next town hall chat?
No news about that unfortunately...
@Henders Tentatively next Wednesday circa 11:30 am Pacific. It won't be set in (metaphorical) stone until sometime next week, however.

@JonEricson Okay, thanks :)
@AdamLear Alright, I wrote up an explaination of how it works and linked the query in the contact us

A: Is it "Greater-Than" or "Greater-or-Equal"?

Swathy M NairIt is greater than because greater(>) than and greater than or equal to(>=)is different for example: if(i>10) { cout<<i; } if(j>=10) { cout<<j; } output is entirely different
