I tend to edit my answers more frequently when they come to my attention.

Virtuous cycle for some, bad for others.

Having a look at your answers on SO. It's fun that you could answer the age-old question about yield in Python, when there were already so many answers, and yet get a very high score.

I guess being torough is the only way to make one's answer stand out in those cases.

Answers that are accepted tend to gather the most upvotes (regardless of quality). My top 2 answers didn't get nearly as many upvotes until they were "accepted" by the OP.

That means you should probably mentally discount accepted answers by some amount if you want to mentally rank them.

The longer answer's score wins by 10:1.

I think the effect is that readers that read more have more time to think, "Have I upvoted this yet?"

Sometimes I get to just reading answers without voting. Kind-of a waste not to vote.

Depends... some answers deserve an upvote or a downvote. Others are just "meh".

The way I see it, my upvote means "this is worth reading" and the opposite for my downvote.

i can explain how to use section but why is rather subjective.

@hichris123 yeah, that's "what they do", it's not "why you use them"

reasons to use them are things like "I want to be able to inject script or CSS at random places" or "I want to partition my pages into multiple content areas" or whatever

That assessment is kinda true. There are several old posts that I've looked through yesterday and today that either shouldn't have been closed, or were edited after they were closed but the task was thrown out of the Reopen Votes queue.

The answer from Shog9 makes me again aware that I'm not active enough to get a gold badge ...

@rene Unfortunately I've seen quite a few [cv-pls]s that shouldn't be closed in the first place...

sure, not everyone has the same idea about what is salvageable and what not

But then they end up closed. :/

The same happens in the CVQ. In the SOCVR we have the option to challenge cv-pls that are not right. At least, that is the idea ...

Yeah... I think your judgement is usually correct @rene but I'm afraid when you have a group like that... it's really hard to control.
