if you want to see the chat events: here, paste it in your browser's console
@ShadowWizard oh right
Interesting, so it might be possible to implement a chat client, the mobile website sucks a little...
> The Transcendentalist Movement was based on a fundamental belief in the unity of the world and God. The soul of each individual was thought to be identical with the world—a microcosm of the world itself. The doctrine of individualism developed through the belief in the identifica- tion of the individual soul with God. Emerson believed that by attending closely to one’s innermost thoughts and feelings, one could glimpse the great spirit of the universe, what Emerson called the “Over-Soul.”
> Emerson held strongly to his romantic belief in personal intuition and flexibility
WTF
@rekire what I'm working on now, actually
@Quill cool, for which platform?
I'm doing a small node.js client at the moment
but the bit about that is that it's not a stretch to add HTML manipulation to the message handling
14:08
interesting. I never tried node.js but I guess it is nice
@rekire not for much longer :)
So when you change a room name / desc / tags you get an event with content that's separated by a /. Strange way of doing it, I suppose
we have a new mobile chat version that we're currently testing internally
@balpha yay! sneak preview?
@balpha I offer myself as a beta tester^^

I.... don't see anything different even with reload
check it on your mobile
14:14
@rekire oh...
Amazing!
Nice ui, but when I type it still moves the send button out of the view
Can we have jQuery mobile swipes?
Emulator FTW
That looks pretty good.

@balpha looks awesome. what would be really cool is being able to double-tap a chat message to star it.
@SmokeDetector fp
@bummi Registered answer as false positive.
Can we actually reply-to messages now?
14:18
I know you can click it and then press star, but I could never keep up with that in somewhere as star-happy as the 2nd monitor.. ;-)
@DanPantry that's a good argument for making it harder to star, not easier ;)
I'm starring that just for the irony
I like that it looks more like chatting and less like a website crammed into my tiny phone screen.
Will that be based in the browser, or will you be porting it into native apps? @balpha
14:21
@bummi User removed from blacklist (3217 on math.stackexchange.com).
also Galaxy S5 emulation has issues with that
@balpha did you see my screen?
you mean chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/4408408#4408408? yes, that looks like your browser is zooming in. what browser is that?
@SmokeDetector why
14:23
BAD QUILL
@balpha Think some browsers allow overriding of preventing of zoom right?
Can't do anything about it
@balpha my default HTC one m8 browser
whoops, sorry @unikitty2.0

ROFL
14:24
yeah, a 30 character workaround, we discussed it earlier
...
I'm tired of filling up the stupid openssl form
TBH, if your answer is under 30 characters, you're doing something wrong
@UNIKITTY2.0 that doesn't bother me much in general -- it's just annoying if it hides an important UI element from the user. That said, the placement of the send button needs to be fixed anyway (right now you can type under it); maybe that will make this browser smarter
I delete answers that are padded out.
@rekire Isn't that Chrome? On mine I have Chrome as the browser
14:28
Well now the input box was totally hidden after scrolling
It based on chrome afik, however I don't trust chrome itself, so I don't use it.
Yet another bug I can type behind the send button
yeah, that's what I just said ^^^
Oh sorry I missed that on my mobile
how ironic ;)
@balpha are you sure you can use that icon for sending messages?
Telegram might want to talk to you :D
sidenote: are the menus going to be closeable by tapping anywhere else? it's a little annoying to have to click the menu again to toggle it away.
JQUERY MOBILE SWIPEZ
14:39
is the message deletion timeout the same as the edit timeout?
Depending on the bugs I see in my browser I guess this is an early state
@Vogel612'sShadow Why would I care what telegram says? That's the default android button for that kind of action. That said, we're thinking about changing it because it's android-specific.
Also, to make one thing clear: I gave you a sneak preview, but at this point I'm not very interested in bug reports yet.
5
14:41
@balpha TIL, I remember Telegram using that as their Logo...
@balpha In that case I like the new UI!
Once we've ironed out a few kinks, this will be enable-able in your chat preferences and I'll post a meta announcement
5
Great :)
apropos enable-able... did I miss something or was there no announcement for the "quick chat notifications"?
But until then, there are too many things where the answer is just "yes I know" for it to make sense to semi-formally collect bug reports
14:44
how does one receive event type 16 UserNotification?
@Vogel612'sShadow There was none.
@balpha Sure I understand that. Are there any plans to add the chat to the apps too?
@Quill sounds like that's the superping
hey @balpha, how come you didn't set edits on pings to return an edit event type?
Git FTW
Just ran rm -rf * in my project home...
Slaps self
@balpha any updates on the new autocomplete/ping mechanism?
Hey, don't bully balpha. He's gotten tons of pings today, and has to work!
@bummi yeah it's off the front page already so nobody there can see it
13 pings so far on my screen
Has to be more
15:09
OMG thank you! <3
I love it
@balpha if you don't mind, I have some suggestions though. The send button overlaps text, and something that has been annoying me for a while now: when you click send it collapses the keyboard. Really annoying when you want to keep writing :/
Amazing! I'm working on a chat application with another user and I love this UI! @balpha

tavern is yet again krill!
Krill are small crustaceans of the order Euphausiacea, and are found in all the world's oceans. The name krill comes from the Norwegian word krill, meaning "small fry of fish", which is also often attributed to other species of fish. Krill are considered an important trophic level connection – near the bottom of the food chain – because they feed on phytoplankton and to a lesser extent zooplankton, converting these into a form suitable for many larger animals for whom krill makes up the largest part of their diet. In the Southern Ocean, one species, the Antarctic krill, Euphausia superba, makes...

@rene nope, it's all about rep. Think 200 repz gives auto white list. @Pro is this correct?
@rene But, but, but does this mean we won't get to see Shog blacklisted? :'(
@ShadowWizard No.
@ShadowWizard There are some rep limits on certain regexes.

Longest suspension I've seen was 10 years, IIRC.
@S.L.Barth I've seen 29.

nice work @bjb568
@bjb568 I figured I'd be able to help out a little or refactor some of your code for you
but it's quite good, and it's hard to refactor something that large that you didn't write
so I haven't done much on it so far
if the changes I'm making turn out to be menial and pedantic, I'll kill my fork and apologise
I'm duping your site or anything, christ... I don't even have mongo installed...
@Quill ok
some of them so far have been little things, like parseInt for example
it's better to use a unary, and for most of them, you don't provide the additional parameter
@hichris123 I was going over some other tweets and found this one, in the comments on the bug report they mention Diginotar, one of the better moments of the Dutch...

Alrighty then. Just wanted another set eyes, thanks for the input
started using it today for a college project, and I freaking love it!
@rene wow, I just realized that the question that the bounty was offered on was an edit that he made to a complete different question
lol wut
@mikeTheLiar eh? the earlier edit looks better than revision 1 IMHO
22:18
They're completely different questions though.
@mikeTheLiar that is all the evidence you need ... Those users are voting and bounty-ing their posts
so I had a bunch of 'totally legal' songs on my iPhone, and when I got Apple Music, it tried to match them with store content, and ended up matching most of the music with Remixes or Live versions \-_-/ FAIL
The edit changes the question to be a dupe of a different question asked by the editor - which he then bountied
Might be one individual who got lost between all their socks
@Quill ... so you buy the remixes and Live versions...
I often lose my socks
I think they're opposed to being forced into arranged relationships. They divorce without my knowledge and inevitably one leaves town to start a new life elsewhere.
