@ArtOfCode Shadow is one of a couple users who explicitly accepts this type of ping.
@SonictheIntrovertedHedgehog broader points though
- assuming he's free
- you're basically using pings to do things you haven't earned the ability to, ironically in an attempt to curate things...
And that tendency to justify as $user dosen't mind does get you in trouble a lot

@SonictheIntrovertedHedgehog You can modify that userscript directly :)

@SonictheIntrovertedHedgehog Doom?
You haven't played that video game?
Nope, didn't play
Probably not my genre
My inventory: GTA Series, The Witness, World of Goo, Human Resource Machine, Polarity, Portal (1/2), etc.
@ɪBᴜɢ Doom is a first-person shooter, originally released in 1993 for MS-DOS and 5th-generation consoles, then re-released in 2016 for 8th-generation consoles.
oh, FPS, then, not my game :(
I play primarily puzzling ones, with a small selection of action (GTA).
@ɪBᴜɢ It's also a puzzle game...find the right way out while killing any enemies you encounter on the way. The DOS version isn't very violent and is often enjoyed by people who don't normally like FPS games.
03:04
@SonictheIntrovertedHedgehog sounds like worth a try. I also recomment The Witness

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Right, which is why this particular request is much less powerful without the linked request. If the linked request is implemented, this one becomes more helpful.
People have this attitude that stuff written in help etc. is just a list of boilerplate and unhelpful responses thrown at their face so the mod/veteran user doesn't have to explain things

Why are users allowed to to vote in meta sites using their association bonus?
Every meta has a different set of rules and everything
Like the homework policy is interpreted differently on math chem and phy
Similarily for the community promotion ads
I don't think anyone's (any community) is exploiting this but only regulars/users that have earnt the right to vote should be able to do so (without the association bonus)
Sounds like posting a feature request to MSE would be best to address that
be sure to check if it's been asked before
@Magisch There already are a few. I'm reading them now, trying to find out the reasons why the voting system works as it works.

Q: Require reputation earned on the main site to vote on a per-site meta

Mad ScientistUpvoting requires 15 reputation, but the association bonus is taken into account, so if you have at least 200 reputation on any site, you can upvote on all sites in the network. @AvnishKabaj That's called a flag. If a comments isn't useful, it can usually go. :P
Users post snarky could comments I've flagged them countless times
But they always get some upvotes because generally they are having a newbie
They need to know that it's not cool
And I'm tired of pinging them in the chat, gave up a couple of months ago
*hazing not having
@AvnishKabaj Keep flagging. Three validated unkind flags in a week trigger a moderator flag ;)
If they're spread over more time, perhaps use a custom flag.
@Tinkeringbell notes down info
In the end, this is something moderators need to fix.
12:09
I can't catch all the comments
@Magisch That's no secret ;)
I'm an information based organism :p
@AvnishKabaj True. That's always going to be a bit of a problem, and that's where you have community for. No single user should moderate everything
If you feel other people aren't doing enough and you regularly end up flagging unkind, older comments, perhaps it's time to raise an issue on a site specific meta first?
The meta is dead on chem
@AvnishKabaj That's not good. :/
12:12
I'm the newest 3k+ user
Since two years
meta is dead on a lot of sites
Actually that's both vaguely why the association reputation dosen't matter that much
Association reputation indicates you get the system roughly
and you need a certain level of engagement in a site to do meta

- Generally most people know not to be rude or abusive, or they find out why not quickly. That leaves three other flags for comments, the custom Mod flag (which requires reviewing the accused history, and for Sealioning that's a non-starter). The other two choices are: `It's unfriendly or unkind. - This comment is rude or condescending. Learn more in our Code of Conduct.
It's no longer needed.` ***and*** `This comment is outdated, conversational or not relevant to this post.` --- Again, snarky or poorly thought out (if you want to call them "dumb" that's up to you) comments generally are wo

It was an attempt to separate quoted text from the flag dialog with the portions that I wrote. The comments we see skirt the line finely to avoid falling into a category that one can make a complaint under and be accepted. The mastercraftsman practices elsewhere before coming here.

Medical research has shown that the practice is both dangerous and ineffective and does not help remove earwax or toxicants. == Safety and effectiveness == Edzard Ernst has published critically on the subject of ear candles, noting, "There is no data to suggest that it is effective for any condition. A: Provide migration facilities from meta to other sites

Jeff AtwoodMetas are black holes -- and this is completely intentional. You can't migrate away from meta, only toward a meta as a final resting place for a question. 21:17
Moderators can migrate away from meta sites
If it really needs doing, flag for moderators to do it
Yeah, in the case I'm thinking of a moderator already noticed it before me. I was just wondering why regular users have the ability to migrate questions from the main site to the meta site but not the reverse.
Because it happens common enough
And because they're trusted not to not know when to do it
Surely it happens with some amount of frequency that someone posts a question on the Meta site when it should be on the Main site?
@Alex Yep, and probably most commonly on ELL
But it never has the potential to be overwhelming
21:22
It may not be overwhelming, but is there any downside to having the ability?
@Alex No I guess not
Someone visiting meta and with the power to VTC most probably knows what they're doing
It's a pretty trivial feature though
Hardly worth a meta post.
@Alex the most likely situation for that to happen in is with new users - except you have to have 5 rep on the main site to post on meta, so it can't
user302202
@Alex Regular users can't migrate unless there is a tag on the question that matches a tag on the destination site. Main->meta migration is special-cased: [discussion] is added automatically. No logical way to do that for meta->main.
@Mrs.Robinson You can migrate from a Main site to its Meta site.
Or does that also got blocked if there is no common tag?
Scratch that, I apparently didn't read your entire comment.
