@J.Musser What do you mean by "you couldn't"?

Sam
@J.Musser What have you tried?

It doesn't ping unless the name self-finishes after you start typing...

That's not true; you don't have to appear in the self-finishing list to really be pinged.

I've missed several pinged chat messages because I wasn't on. That's weird.

in Charcoal HQ on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, just now, by Undo
@hichris123 They want you in the tavern. http://chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/2385028#2385028
There's a superping, that should get him.

6:04 PM
@Undo overachiever...

>:D

@Undo MODABUSE

@J.Musser I found the exact ping rules: meta.scifi.stackexchange.com/a/939/31259

@ProgramFOX Nice; thanks!

6:08 PM
You're welcome!

What do you do on a site with only one active mod, and he doesn't migrate a question even after 5 people close it for that, and wait, and then I flag it for mod attention, and nothing happens?

@J.Musser maybe the target site didn't want it...

does anybody know why a $('#id').append($('<span>')) works in chrome,FF,IE11 but NOT on IE8?

@rene jQuery 2.x?

No, 1.9.1 just verified

6:23 PM
is the LQP queue slow for others? It's taking upwards of 30 seconds to load a review for me

@Andy Wow.

@Braiam ah got it, $('<span class="awesome" >') is not appreciated by IE8

obligatory ^
Gah, chat hates me

I'm using chrome.

me too

6:31 PM
@Undo thanks for reminding me ;)

I hear internet explorer is faster.

@J.Musser it underflows and becomes fast.

@Undo I'll take that to my customers

@Undo I've used chrome for a long time, no complaints.

@J.Musser compared to previous versions of IE, sure

6:32 PM
...well, very few.

@J.Musser When I have a complaint, I do this.

@Undo smart.
How do find what version you're using?

@J.Musser chrome://help/

Ah, there it is. Version 37.0.2062.103 m

37.0.2062.94 here

6:35 PM
@Undo Ah.
Went from dsl to a Comcast business cable. What took 2 hrs, now takes 2 mins. Or less.

nice
I do that every time someone brags about their internet speed ;)
(internet speed at WWDC)

@Undo What you got?

Not as good :(

That looks like my speed at home
:(

Sam
I'm sure mine's something like -10.72 Mbps.
2

6:42 PM
Mine never goes under 15 Mbps download. Usually about 40-60, seems like.

Sam
Oh...

@Sam Hahahahahaha!

Sam
I can't believe my up speed is better lol

I would try the wifi of the neighbours
4

Sam
@rene Excellent idea. powers up kali >:D

6:47 PM
@J.Musser I TW business cable and it stinks. paying 3x as much for this as I would for a residential service that would be 5x faster
"business cable internet" == "same service level as residential; less throughput; 10x the price; contracts required"
craptastic

@BenCollins Actually, they put up the cable for free for buisness; were going to charge hundreds of dollars for residential.

And the residential stuff doesn't have as good of service.

waits for someone to flag something on SR
I'm bored.

@J.Musser the marketing materials for TWC say the same, but when I talked to the sales person, I asked more specific questions and I concluded the service was no different. sigh.

6:51 PM
@Undo Answer questions on SO :)

Yeah, I suppose I could go do that.

or watch /realtime for potential spam

one of the prices of living in a rural area is having limited ISP options

help out jan :)

I'll never win an SO election without 10/20k.
goes to find something to answer

6:52 PM
goes to delete @Undo's answers

Bad bluefeet! Go delete some of the things I flagged earlier!

flags, smags
I'm swimming in rainwater today, flags are not on my radar today

Loan me your diamond and I'll do my best to make a dent.

Loan me your diamond and I will burn the CV queue to ashes.

@BenCollins They put business as higher priority, and it is never down for more than 5 minutes. The residential was sometimes down over an hour, the guys said it was because they expect residential to be just entertainment.

6:54 PM
sounds nice

(prepares to take on a 72 hour marathonic reviewing expenditure)

@Undo and @Unihedron you'll both get burned out

yeah, I know I would

I disagree..

Sam
I agree to disagree with that agreement.

6:57 PM
Oh, my internet speed is slow! I'll try again.

@Unihedron Trust me, I thought I wouldn't ever burn out before I got my SR diamond. Then you kinda realize that SO would totally burn you out if you tried to do too much.

Sam
@J.Musser It can't be any worse than mine.

@Undo Hmm... I trust you. But I still want a diamond.

Go for a smaller site first, that's my advice ;)
Oh, more advice: Don't try to get a diamond. I did that a few times and it doesn't work and makes you sad. Just let the shinyness come to you.

6:59 PM
lol, ok :)

;)

@Sam ^
Maybe I need to reboot the router.

Sam
Is it just me, or does that graph look wrong?
"upload 3.72", but the graph shows an average of ~18.

usually speed tests like that show the end speed

@Sam Ah. Don't know.
It usually uploads very fast.

Sam
7:04 PM
Either way, wanna swap isp? ;D

@rene -29... (+10/-39)

bad
poor @rene :P

@Sam If you buy me a new one.

The answer was insighted and eccentric but it's not well-received, alas!

Nobody understands me, the story of my life...
:)

7:07 PM
@Sam The number shows the end of the graph. which is 3.72. The max is 36.06.

[ SmokeDetector ] All-caps title: CODE NOT WORKING FOR JAVA BEGINNER on codereview.stackexchange.com

yup same for me code doesn't work
even no bug :D

Sam
@Unihedron The axiom of this rather unfortunate situation...
@J.Musser Ah, that explains it.

@Sam The average is about ~18.

Sam
Nice.

7:10 PM
@Sam Wheel of Blame says it's @Shog's fault.

@Unihedron Wrong, I spun it 3 times, c# each time.

Sam
yesterday, by Sam
@Unihedron Blasphemy!
Anyway, I though it was always Bart's socks'sese'ss'es fault.

@Sam Well, go curse at the wheel of blame.

Sam
@J.Musser Nah, I'm just gonna read through the room's bookmarks (lol).

@Sam ?????????

7:21 PM
https is borked in most places

@Unihedron Same here.

Sam
The pic is still loading :(

click on it to open in new tab.

Sam
I have, it's still loading...
@Unihedron Oh right, yeah I get that every time I join (I'm not the hacker btw).
Anyway, I've gtg, laters...

7:27 PM

8:14 PM
@J.Musser You wanted me?
(sorry, school :P)
Looks like it's already been migrated.

8:40 PM
Since it looks like I missed the internet speed discussion:
^ The north pole is disguised as dayton, ohio

@SantaClaus Hey, I was just at Dayton
(went to National Air Force Museum)

@Undo Did... you go close to me?

depends, where are you at?

Indiana.

^ My route, with the end cities kinda scrambled.

8:51 PM
Mmm... Fort Wayne isn't that far, but it's not that close either.

wait
that's what we actually did
Chat hates me.

@Undo Did you like it?

@SantaClaus Heck yeah
So. Much. Stuff.

@Undo I haven't been there in quite a while. The last time I was there (I was about 9) my attention span was about 40 seconds tops.

yeah, it's tough is you don't understand what's significant about those birds.

8:54 PM
@Undo I should go back sometime...was it crowded?
@Undo What do Scott Depot, WV and Battle Creek, MI have to do with anything

9:12 PM
@SantaClaus not really
@SantaClaus Random cities kinda by where I departed and arrived.
(cities/towns)

A: What guidance should be given when edits are rejected?

bjb568 This post is of very low quality and should be deleted. Please only edit posts that can be saved.

@bjb568 Yeah, +1.
Doesn't completely answer the question, but good point.

11:45 PM
@J.Musser The question is "What guidance should be given when edits are rejected?"

@bjb568 I sometimes reject edits as primarily opinion based, or very low quality, as well as other things. :P

I wasn't asking for you're opinion… I was stating the question title.

@bjb568 We can see it already, you one-boxed it.

I know. It was questioning "doesn't completely answer the question".
… communication issues.
GTG, anyway.

@bjb568 see ya

11:49 PM
> load average: 2.13, 2.15, 1.76
Isn't that nice.
I'm running a single-core, by the way.

@hichris123 I know a guy whos phone is a quad.

Wow.

Yeah, it ws an amazing battery hog.
@hichris123 Which numbers are which?

@J.Musser 1 min, 5 min, 15 min.

@hichris123 Ok, download speed?

11:55 PM
If it gives you any idea... it's been running at 100% for 15 minutes.
@J.Musser It's not downloading. It's compiling. :P

@hichris123 Ah.
