Many sites which have mobile versions (e.g. Amazon) allow you to force the site into "standard" mode - letting the user decide for themselves that they're happy to use more bandwidth, deal with any mobile browsing issues etc.

A few days ago my iPhone started rendering Stack Overflow a bit differently, using duller colors, trimmed-down buttons, etc. (I am on StackOverflow.com - NOT the mobile site)

I love my iPad. I love it for the fact that I can visit a website and view it in it's 1024x768 glory in full color. I love seeing the Apple site look pretty and I love using my iPad to show off Stack Exchange to my friends and colleagues.
Then the shock. I log in to check the sites and I get......

A 3-year warranty with accidental damage (drop/spill/etc) coverage from SquareTrade on a $1500 computer is $200-300. I think it's worth it, considering you generally plan on keeping a computer that expensive for more than its 1 year warranty.
If it were a $600 laptop from your neighborhood big box store, then that's different.
And the nice thing about ST warranties is that you get repair within 5 days or a check for the replacement cost. No sending it in to the manufacturer that decides to keep it for 2 months then send it back still broken.

@Dan I will look into that. As a rule, I don't use third party libraries unless they are simple to use and Xcode doesn't detect memory leaks. I need to check this one.

@Dan fair enough. Consider this though. Each dev pays a hundred bucks. Then apple only makes money once the developers do. It's a pittance unless the app takes off.
They make either the Money that the developers couldn't push over a minimum payout threshold, or the thirty percent. Which is often less than several hundred dollars.
Or they can force you to buy a Mac. Which is more profitable?
So they can make two hundred a dev or eight hundred a dev. And they filter put the non serious devs. Which increases the likelyhood of successful apps.
As apple, I want to be selling macs to serious devs than hopinga bunch of loony devs dabble a success story together.
@NickT yes. It's not paralegals. It's software that scans for a lot of stuff. Private apis. Child unfriendly. Etc. Then humans test. At hat point it's not paralegals anymore.
So many things I should be working on. I need to write another node.js server, I have a half-finished Twilio app that integrates phone and web, a half-finished event analytics platform, a website change monitoring service (HTML diffs) that's 99% working I need to tidy up...
Instead of working on any of it, I'll probably buy donuts and watch Colbert Report.
