I'm wondering (since it just happened to me), is it possible to "cancel" ("undo", "delete", whatever) a flag I just raised if I misclicked it, so the mods won't waste time?
I looked everywhere, but I can't find such a feature.
@Unihedron well, it's not semi-private either, in my opinion so still wrong. Flag might be semi private, since only other moderators can see it. But something which is listed in public? — Shadow Wizard42 secs ago
@ShadowWizard: I'm not sure what you expect me to say other than "I appreciate your opinion but opinions are subjective, and so is the description of the visibility of a discrete room".
I checked this question but didn't fully understand it.
I know that the volue of a right circular cone is $V = \frac{1}{3}\pi x^2h$
I know that I must take the first derivative and set it equal to zero. Which will find the maxium.
My problem is how to deal with the variable $h$, the height? ...
@Unihedron confusing (because too many edits) and low quality because OP did not mention any scenario where a private message is required. The answer differs as per the situation. The mode of contacting mod privately during suspension is to reply to the mod message, sometimes flagging is the proper way (e.g this guy is rude and abusive, suspend him please), sometimes it's via Meta (in case of disputed flags etc). Some scenarios may warrant using "contact us"
"confusing (because too many edits)" -> I'm pretty sure the edits are caused by the two specific editors warring over "privately" or not "privately", and fixing grammar mistakes. That's what edits are for anyway. If by that logic I'm going to claim wikipedia posts are confusing.
I think it's unclear because 4 very aware and experienced users have posted 4 completely different answers to the same question. Mooseman removed his post, but I have no doubt that each of the answerers know the functioning of the site very well. The question is confusing them, hence unclear.
@ShadowWizard Must I repeat again? My description "semi-private" is highly subjective and the "semi-" here accounts for "theoretically private, but not really". I'm not ticked off by the fact that you are a user of opinions and are not afraid to voice them, but that you're expecting me to share your sentiments when I clearly don't.
@Unihedron I wasn't aware that any mod can create private chat room, but it's totally different from what you suggested in your answer, which is an ordinary public chat room. Anyway, such thing requires the moderator to reach out to the user, that's totally not what the question is about.
@Unihedron "no, you don't have to repeat again because those are two different things".
better? :)
public chat room == not private, not semi private private chat room == semi private, equivalent for flagging since any mod can see/access it (only my personal opinion above, not expecting anyone to share it)
The only reason I think Uni's answer is right because it's the most direct you can try to contact them. Flag can be seen by random mods first. The same as "Contact us". Not that I endorse his approach, because... reason.
Let's just agree to disagree then. I'm out of this discussion.
@peterh Please read the FIRST line of my answer, which says that YOU CAN'T. I've had to state this several times in chat rooms in discourse of why I believe my answer is correct. — Unihedron25 secs ago
