What's the height of a cone to minimize its volume if it's circumscribed in a sphere of radius 3?

@InfiniteRecursion not sure how you concluded that
the question was far from low quality or confusing

3
Q: Find the volume of the largest right circular cone that can be inscribed in a sphere of radius r?

yiyiI checked this question but didn't fully understand it. I know that the volue of a right circular cone is $V = \frac{1}{3}\pi x^2h$ I know that I must take the first derivative and set it equal to zero. Which will find the maxium. My problem is how to deal with the variable $h$, the height? ...

@bjb568 Have fun. Symmetry won't help you here, so calculate the height and radius from the cross-section

> I know that the volue
@Yes please ^?

Ugh, why do I suddenly have a guess on the said mod...

1:16 PM
?

@Unihedron confusing (because too many edits) and low quality because OP did not mention any scenario where a private message is required. The answer differs as per the situation. The mode of contacting mod privately during suspension is to reply to the mod message, sometimes flagging is the proper way (e.g this guy is rude and abusive, suspend him please), sometimes it's via Meta (in case of disputed flags etc). Some scenarios may warrant using "contact us"
no one knows what the OP intends to ask
"unclear what you are asking"

@InfiniteRecursion close it then

1:18 PM
ok

and we'll reopen - I agree with @Uni it's not unclear

low quality can mean the case is ambiguous / not nicely defined, but not that the need was non-existent - that's simply off-topic, nothing makes it LQ

maybe not popular, but not unclear
Still no close reason "This question is too unpopular"

"confusing (because too many edits)" -> I'm pretty sure the edits are caused by the two specific editors warring over "privately" or not "privately", and fixing grammar mistakes. That's what edits are for anyway. If by that logic I'm going to claim wikipedia posts are confusing.

edited again, and now it's explicitly that he wants a 1-on-1 conversation with mod.
I don't think that'd be constructive.

1:22 PM
I think it's unclear because 4 very aware and experienced users have posted 4 completely different answers to the same question. Mooseman removed his post, but I have no doubt that each of the answerers know the functioning of the site very well. The question is confusing them, hence unclear.

@AndrewT. maybe not, but he has the right to ask if it's possible and how.

@AndrewT. there is no such thing as "private chat room".
(except for SE employees)

@ShadowWizard Yes there is and only mods can create it.

1:27 PM
@Unihedron but other mods can still see it --> not private

@ShadowWizard Now I'm going to go create a chat room called "private chat room" :)
4

@LynnCrumbling post link here, we'll see how private it is :D

@ShadowWizard Must I repeat again? My description "semi-private" is highly subjective and the "semi-" here accounts for "theoretically private, but not really". I'm not ticked off by the fact that you are a user of opinions and are not afraid to voice them, but that you're expecting me to share your sentiments when I clearly don't.

YAY! Another bikeshed discussion :D

1:30 PM
@Unihedron I wasn't aware that any mod can create private chat room, but it's totally different from what you suggested in your answer, which is an ordinary public chat room. Anyway, such thing requires the moderator to reach out to the user, that's totally not what the question is about.

@ShadowWizard hahaha..
@ShadowWizard I'll rename it to "partially obfuscated semi private xxx_dont_click_here_xxx room"

@ShadowWizard What?

@Unihedron "no, you don't have to repeat again because those are two different things".
better? :)
public chat room == not private, not semi private
private chat room == semi private, equivalent for flagging since any mod can see/access it
(only my personal opinion above, not expecting anyone to share it)

@ShadowWizard yes, my expectations and your opinions are distinctly different, I realized that already herre

1:36 PM
@Unihedron yes, and this all boils down to something @rene knows well: "we agree to disagree".

@ShadowWizard I'm not sure what you'd achieve with those equality signs.

but rene gets ice-cream...

@Unihedron umm, achieve? replace with "is" if you like.
userscript can work too :D

The only reason I think Uni's answer is right because it's the most direct you can try to contact them. Flag can be seen by random mods first. The same as "Contact us". Not that I endorse his approach, because... reason.
Let's just agree to disagree then. I'm out of this discussion.

@InfiniteRecursion yeah, he's special ;)
