@ShadowWizard At the end of the day, passion and love dosen't pay the bills.
and well, honestly - I don't find a lot of the speculation people do productive. Sometimes things are simpler and less bitter than we assume
And too good to pass off might not mean just money.
It could also be "ooh, *huge, important, potentially exciting project"
I ran some queries on how the HNQ effects question score and views for Outdoors.SE outdoors.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/1456/…

Hmm? I think this is the first time I saw an ad on SE in my native language... by Microsoft...
and spammy morning...

1 hour later…
03:51
@GetAnswerWizard wot, no adblock?
I whitelisted SE... for reasons! :D
04:52
+1 perfect example
and by +1 I mean FREE FLAGS!
@GetAnswerWizard Wow, that's like a celebrity answer. Like someone asking on M&TV how Spielberg made Saving Private Damon and he himself answering it

Morning!
07:51
Mowning!
What's everyone up to?
Work!
And coffee, and chatting about soccer.
And being already bummed that I'm inside an office when the weather outside is so nice.
what about the rest of people here?
Monday morning work
And now, mint tea. Brb
Watching/reading about Lobotomy Corporation before sleeping was not really a good idea...
I know what lobotomies are, but there was a corporation?
08:06
@Tinkeringbell it's a video game
:D
lol (10k/mod only ;))
@rene quick SQL Server question: isn't there a PadLeft or PadRight function?? I figured there is, but.... looks like there isn't?
workaround is easy enough, but still... feels bit dirty.
@ShadowWizard iirc you have to manually pad and then use substring
so like RIGHT('000'+COALESCE(myValue,''),3)
@Magisch yeah, just found such answer, below much worse answers.
FORMAT is just bad, takes tons of time to run.

A: PadLeft function in T-SQL

Marcelo MyaraOld post, but maybe this helps someone out: To complete until it ends up with 4 non-blank characters: SELECT RIGHT ('0000'+COLUMNNAME, 4) FROM TABLENAME; To complete until 10: SELECT RIGHT ('0000000000'+COLUMNNAME, 10) FROM TABLENAME;

im generally not a fan of format
08:24
String.Format is cool in C#
@ShadowWizard Regarding your most recent comment reply: I've recently started posting that on unclear bug reports reported through the Android app's bug reporting form, and the last (first) time I did, the author apologized and edited the question, and it was reopened.
@SonictheWizardWerehog oh. Well, let's hope it will happen again. :)
Still, better to start over with a new question, -4 is pretty big pit.
That said, I finally got rid of my android app after it stopped sending notifications. It still "worked", but without notifications it's useless.
@ShadowWizard Still works for me; don't know why it stopped working for you
It was likely due to me switching between phones, but still... not really care about it anymore.
I'm sticking with my Nexus 6P for the foreseeable future
08:38
I had two phones working in the same time with the app.
Replaced its battery last year.
@ShadowWizard nope, if you don't want Format (indeed is an expensive function) roll your own, with left and right.
@ShadowWizard tbh.... Notifications is what I really need it for
It's pretty useless otherwise considering modern phones and SE development in the interim
09:26
@ShadowWizard Same thing happened to me. Switched phones, app stopped working.

and here we see what happens when autoflagging is off
We need to clean up a lot of messages to Chimney? :)
11:58
@JourneymanGeek indeed
@Mithrandir yup, not surprised.
@Mithrandir why is it off? Not that I object... lol
12:14
@ShadowWizard SE made some API changes and metasmoke got automatically banned. SE said they'd clear that up...
12:26
did they reduce api quota?
@Aibobot Nope, Ryan survived and went on to make a musical romance with I dunno how many Oscars
12:46
@AdamLear @TimPost @Shog9 @JNat can any of you get the attention of Monty as my IP has been banned from the APIs and I have no clue why?
One of two cases, either I'm doing something evil without knowing or there's a mistake. In either case I need to know :-)
@Sklivvz You're in company with metasmoke then
according to undo:
in Charcoal HQ on The Stack Exchange Network Chat, 2 days ago, by Undo
confirmed with shog in tavern that it was the /associated route that went nuts
seems to be an API general issue
ahhh thanks. It's been persisting since last night
Here is the incident tracking on Metasmoke github
I'm not sure it's the same issue: first of all it's an IP ban for some reason (using the common key/simply browsing the site), and secondly I wouldn't use the same key as MetaSmoke
iirc the metasmoke ec2 is also ip banned atm
13:16
Thats the exact same error MS is running into

The autoflag log suggests the metasmoke troubles began on April 2, when Apple.SE got hit by pr0n videos in answers.
user302202
Spike in API use => someone on SE side tightens up the restrictions => IP ban in a few days.
user302202
Happy Monday!
13:47
@Sklivvz I'll pass that along :)
@JNat muito obrigado
;)
14:15
@Mithrandir ohh, in 6-8 weeks? Neat.
With the dev team busy with moving to .NET Core and everything, I won't hold my breath for any requested changes to be made soon...
@ShadowWizard I probably suspect this would be some knob twiddling
and smokey is pretty important
@JourneymanGeek Smokey is up, I see it still reports just fine.
If only auto flagging is down, I prefer it this way.
I don't like bots that flag.
@ShadowWizard eh, a good amount of the value in smokey is probably in the autoflagging
Too bad... :)
I'm not exactly a fan, but I'm reasonably ok with the level of oversight we have
Periodic outages to keep people on their toes though...
could be a happy medium ;p
I'm doubtful fixing it would/should be on a backburner though
14:24
@JourneymanGeek all gone
@SonictheWizardWerehog ^
@SonictheWizardWerehog gone
@SonictheWizardWerehog all gone

Expect a lot of links to MSO/MSE in answers.
I already found one "Thanks in advance!"
eagerly awaits tanks are advancing
user302202
The translation of "Take care in asking for clarification, commenting, and answering" on ruSO somehow turned out as "Be condescending in asking for clarification, commenting, and answering".
lol
In Russia, clarifications ask for you
I am registering at hacker noon to ask a question
user302202
17:01
What's your question?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how detrimental to the site was the creation of meta.
j/k j/k it will be something light
I'll link it once it's ready
user302202
The fact that "снисходительный" means both "lenient" and "condescending" in Russian makes translation tricky.
user302202
"condescending" is the literal meaning though.
Reminds me of aladeen
From the movie the Dictator.. it means "yes" or "no"
user302202
When Metasmoke is IP-banned, spammers will play.
user302202
Oh. I thought it was this one.
user302202
The time almost matches.
user302202
@TravisJ Expect this link in the answer.

"Make everyone sit quietly while I run through them" is a little ambiguous.
18:10
@AskQuestionWizard Wow, no, that is not my style at all. I definitely aim at a more civilized discourse.
@AskQuestionWizard Thanks, I hadn't seen that. Very recent article really.

@Bart An increasingly popular pastime. Here at AQW University someone went through the yearbooks up to 100 years old looking for things to be offended by.
user302202
It's unfortunate that the Greatest Hits feature is so well hidden. Or maybe fortunate, as in the case of Interpersonal Greatest Hits
@AskQuestionWizard Wow, the IPS hits are ... of a certain train of thought.
19:17
@AskQuestionWizard Interpersonal greatest hits? Boxing knockouts?
He responded, although it was mostly just a summation of his blog post and the comments below. Fun

Also true for SoftwareRecs, perhaps to a greater degree. Answered + closed > not answered.
%chance getting answer as comment > %chance getting answered properly
because most of the time, they only want to know the name of the program, not how to use it
user302202
Exactly, and since it fits fine into a comment, closing does not prevent that.
so, next time someone asks for multifeatures text editor, recommend Vim.
user302202
WPSE election began: two candidates obviously unqualified, so it's about ranking 3 others.
