@Catija No, that isn't me. I don't have any sock puppets.
???
morning...
@Catija @ShadowWizard Claimed that that person begging on Meta for details about the sock puppet detection system was probably me. I just said it wasn't.

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Link at end of answer (60): How can I bring back the Google "cached version" links? by Xin Wu on webapps.SE
03:00
@forest : why would they think it's you? You're the one that came here to inform us about the 2 mods fighting each other on that electronics SE right?
@Magisch : I believe I found one of those sock-puppets, there's a guy named "Nog Shine" which is very similar to Shog09, his profile pic is a photo of Tyrion Lanniesters from Games of THrone
@Mithrandir : really ?
user168476
@user1271772 that's not a sock
03:15
@user1271772 No, their username is just a pun that Shog made before they created their account.
@NogShine +10/-26
just finished catching up the convo that made Conan Edogawa shudder...
@user1271772 They probably think it's me because I stated my intention to figure out how the vote fraud detection system worked. I suppose it's not illogical to assume someone who then starts begging to know how it works on Meta is me (it's not).
Guys does anyone here like coffee?? For so many years I stayed away from it because I have trouble sleeping (and no need making it worse by adding caffeine to the mix) but today I tried some and it was pretty cool... I finished editing this draft much quicker than I thought it would take .... Maybe it's because I was thinking "I broke my no-coffee rule and risked losing sleep tonight, now I better make it worth it by actually doing some work" .... or maybe it really does help? Or is it placebo?
I like coffee but for me it really does nothing so I don't drink it often.
For some people it really works, for others it doesn't do much.
03:25
@Alex Are you keeping track of the number of people that believe it's a sock vs. the number of people that think it's just Shog09 making a dummy account?
I like the flavor of coffee, but don't like the effect of caffeine
@forest : I believe you forest. It would be crazy for you to make an account just to ask that. By the way do you know about socks? There's a new moderator with absolutely no reputation in any other SE's in the network, who has been very vocal about having had another account in the past for several years... so it makes me wonder why he has a brand new account for this brand new SE. What if the previous account had a suspension in the last year? Does that disqualify him from being a mod?
Or does the suspension have to be on the SOCK, not on the person?
@andmyself : I am also the same. The flavor was delicious, but I'm not a fan of caffeine (or any drugs for that matter)
Guys, do you think this is allowed at most universities: uwaterloo.ca/heforshe/events/mens-circle-1
"These workshops are free and open to open to all male identifying students, staff, and faculty, with food and beverages provided!" ......... isn't that unfair to females ?
@user1271772 Which moderator?
Yeah, let's not get into this discussion. It isn't one that ends well.
And a sock is just any duplicate or alternate account.
It doesn't have to be done maliciously. E.g. TomLeek and ThomasPornin are socks, but they don't vote for each other or do anything that'd result in them getting suspended.
@user1271772 Not any more than the numerous groups that only allow females.
That sounds like it's just a political statement, not discrimination.
03:36
@forest : obviously I'm not going to say his name. Such a thing would be discouraged in this chat room, based on my experience here.
@ArtOfCode : Which discussion? The one about the "meninism" campaign at University of Waterloo ??
Masculism. Meninism is a silly term.
@user1271772 Not sure what you’re referring to; I was just answering the question of what the score distribution is on that Meta post.
@user1271772 Oh I didn't know there was drama behind it. Just wanted to look at it to see if I could figure out why they are a new moderator. E.g. maybe they created a new beta site and are temporary moderators because of that.
@user1271772 it's worth remembering pro tem mods are very carefully vetted by the community team
@forest But the event is "men only" and they have free food and beverages. Shouldn't women be allowed to attend and get free food/bevereages too? There's feminism events, but they also welcome men if they really really want to be there (most of them don't want to in the first place)
03:38
@user1271772 There are plenty of feminism events that don't allow men.
Which is fine. This is just people exercising their rights, as they should.
@forest I see. In which country?
The rights go both ways.
@user1271772 I've seen it done in USA, UK, Germany, and Canada.
@forest sounds almost like a communist offshoot :p
@forest But is it also fair when men do it?
@JourneymanGeek It is a silly name. Most people use men's rights activist instead.
03:40
Yup
@user1271772 Why wouldn't it be? Equality is about both genders having the same rights. Whatever men can do, women can do. Whatever women can do, men can do.
@forest "men's rights activist" sounds a lot better. But trust me I did see "meninism" on twitter
@user1271772 That's silly.
Twitter. Ha.
@forest lol
03:41
I mean I'm all for men's and women's rights, but not if you make up a silly name.
@Alex : Oh because right before that someone was saying "Not Shine" is not a sock of "Shog Nine", so I thought you were keeping track of the number of people who believe he's a sock (+10) and the number of people who think it's just an extra dummy account made by Shog09 (-26)
@user1271772 Ah. Glad we cleared that up, then.
@forest : lol, but "masculinism" or "masculism" doesn't sound so great either... "men's rights activist" sounds better, but too long
@user1271772 Sure but "MRA" has been tainted by feminists who think it's all about hating women rather than things like equality in divorce court and the like.
And it's not like you really need a short name anyway. What matters is that people work for equal rights for both genders, not that they have a catchy name.
== Removal of the term "semi-satirical" == Who keeps inputting words like "satirical" or "semi-satirical" on this page? Meninism is a very serious issue whether you agree or not. Implying that it is a joke is horrendously offensive and those words carry a massive bias that simply does not belong on Wikipedia. Objectivity should be maintained. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.138.183 (talk) 03:45, 17 November 2015 (UTC) I'm sorry, but Wikipedia doesn't care if you find it "offensive" or not. It is satire, it's literally parodying what feminists say about men. And no, I'm not...
03:45
@forest : But what if I showed up there and they said I can't be there because I'm not a girl? Is it really a good thing? How are they going to check?
@user1271772 Well they can exclude you if they want. It's a private event.
I mean I don't think gender-exclusive meetups are a good thing regardless of who is excluded, but people have the legal right to host them.
@andmyself, you're saying that "meninism" is the official word?
Meninism is a men's rights movement. Its followers are known as meninists. == History == The term meninism was used in the early 2000s to describe male feminists who opposed sexism and supported women's right for equality in society, politics and at work. By the next decade, the term was used on social media to make jokes which mocked and criticised radical feminism. In 2013 the BBC reported that the hashtag #MeninistTwitter was being used on Twitter, first to share jokes about feminism, but later to share more serious difficulties facing modern men. In 2015, Nolan Feeney of Time reported that...
@user1271772 not really, it's discussing that the term is a satire/joke
@forest : This is not just at someone's private house, it's at a public university. It's not like private universities in the states, the funding comes from tax-payers
@user1271772 Well if one gender is allowed to do it, the other should be as well.
That seems like it's what that Waterloo thing is for. It's just showing that everyone is free to exercise equal rights, which is a good thing.
03:47
@andmyself : you removed the part that says you're from Jakarta?
@user1271772 maybe, why you asked that?
@andmyself OH i got confused
Turns out it's still there if you click on stack-overflow, but on Meta it's not there anymore.. wierd
My MSE profile is specialized just for this chat server.
I see
How do we do that @andmyself?
If I wanted to do such a thing?
Guys is it possible that coffee gives me a tummy ache? and heart pound fast?
very much yes, that's the effect of caffeine
03:50
This girl poured it in my cup, I didn't want it but I also didn't want to say no. I told her to stop and she kept pouring... I only wanted a little
It depends on the person. For some people it does.
Heh, you don't have to drink it all.
She was watching
She said it was expensive
vanilla hazelnut
smelled very good too
Is it important in your culture to drink it all?
Who is she? Why do you have to drink it?
I was afraid she might get offended if I don't
@andmyself I don't really know how to explain who she is man
She organizes a lot of events around here
03:52
So drink half of it.
I mean caffeine is very safe. At worst you'll be a little jittery.
Or just say "Sorry, I don't drink coffee".
She's supposed to know by now, I told her every time
Remind her.
I even told her that for many years I didn't drink coffee because I have problems getting to sleep
One time she tried to tell me something that I didn't want to hear, and I kept saying "I don't want to hear it" and she just spoke louder so that it would be over my voice. Then I said "no means no", and she still went ahead with telling me that thing
Looks like someone who I'll just ignore in the future...
03:55
@andmyself Yea I wish I could ... she organizes a lot of the events around here though.
@andmyself Terimah Kasi
You can't avoid her?
She sounds like a jerk.
I'll have to avoid going to the events
@andmyself : You know how lucky you are to have nasi lemak and rendang available to you locally? It's so hard to get that stuff around here man.
I guess I'm lucky for that case :p
There's a restaurant here called "Sama Sama" which sells Nasi Goreng for $9. Genius business owner knows how to make 900% profit
@andmyself You've been to USA or Canada?
04:00
No, the farthest I've gone is to Aussie...
Yea things are expensive around here man
Normal meal costs $10, so this guy just started selling Nasi Goreng for $9...... the customers don't realize what's going on
They think it's special gourmet food or something...
That's simple economics ++ if you're doing it rightish some components you need may be harder to source

I know the script by gorfindkel, but how to we track it?
@JourneymanGeek Are you Malaysian?
@JourneymanGeek Okay but you know that nasi goreng can't cost $9 USD man. The thing is that these customers think that they're having something "exotic" that they've never tried before, from an authentic restaurant, with a chef from overseas, with Bahasa music in the background, so it's worth the $9 + tax + tip (those things aren't included here man). The resto owner is a genius man, I wish I thought of it myself actually.
