Morning...

@andmyself You remind me of a movie where a penguin wears a glove on its head

that's interesting :)

The Wrong Trousers is a 1993 British stop-motion animated short film directed by Nick Park at Aardman Animations, featuring his characters Wallace and Gromit. It is the second film featuring the eccentric inventor Wallace (voiced by Peter Sallis) and his dog Gromit, following A Grand Day Out (1989). In the film, a sinister penguin uses Wallace and Gromit's robotic "Techno Trousers" to steal a diamond. The Wrong Trousers premiered in the United States on 17 December 1993, and the United Kingdom on 26 December 1993. It was commercially successful and won the 1993 Academy Award for Best Animated Short...

hmm? Wallace and Gromit? I feel like I have seen it somewhere else... though I believe I haven't watched it...
deja vu intensifies
That said...

@andmyself Yep, there is one more candidate now

1:28 AM
and Android.SE finally entered the voting phase (disclosure: I also run, so please don't get biased in voting)

@andmyself I'm one point short of the required rep to vote

Have SE responded to the HNQ debacle post anywhere? They removed the tag three weeks ago, and the continued silence since then makes me worried that they'll just implement something - instead of engaging in a "conversation" as they puti it - and leave it fait accompli for us.

@andmyself Thanks for the edit approval! Voted.
@muru Patience is a virtue. They must be discussing it internally.

@muru no they have not. There have been blog posts promised, but no material response yet beyond Jay's Twitter thread.

I see. Thanks!

There has been a mite more communication with mods, including some material documentation in response, but not a huge amount more than is public.

@ArtOfCode If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing up all night? :)

4:29 AM
Failing at going to sleep
I'm good at that

@muru well.. that wouldn't be different from a lot of what's happened lately :(

i think i missed a great deal over the weekend

@Quill Nothing much happens with the SE team on weekends

Yep... I think it would be nice if they posted a summary of "here's what were thinking now" for course correction.

Rob
@Quill This particular situation happened a month ago, not this weekend :)

4:35 AM
oh thats quite a few weekends
im catching up to speed now

MathOverflow with (at least a) fresh(-er) design
(and as always, negative score...)

It might not even be compliant with the SE 2.0 agreement
If you really disagree with this, keep in mind that the agreement under which this site was migrated to SE 2.0 still allows you to leave the SE network at any time. — gparyani 44 secs ago

5:06 AM
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog not sure that helps in any way

Rob
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog That's probably between Stack Exchange and MathOverflow, I'd say.

A literal diamond on Area 51? just a flavor in unicode rendering...

5:52 AM
Good morning!

woohoo! First gold badge on Coffee.SE! :D
Now I feel like a real coffee master!

Nice! Congratulations :D

@ShadowWizard found it! It was hiding in the states.
@Tinkeringbell thanks! :D

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog You can assume that they've been talking with the mods, though

@Magisch The agreement is a legal contract between Joel Spolsky and Anton Geraschenko, creator of MathOverflow
Even if they've gained consent from the mods, they're liable to being sued by Anton in case they breach it

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog OP also left a rude comment on the answer, flagged and was insta nuked.
@muru trivial: the list will be empty. ;)

7:10 AM
@ShadowWizard Flagged for locking
Not the first time they've vandalized their post.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog nah that does not justify locking. Typical case of a frustrated user, but they doesn't appear to insist on adding the crap back in.
Also, the comment was on the answer, locking the question won't help.
IMO if OP leaves another rude comment or adding rude content via edit, suspension is due.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog eh. You're just stirring shit for no reason. It's nothing to do with you. Drop it please

@ShadowWizard brews a cup of Cappuccino for @Tinker

Here you go! Double coffee for you. :D

8:11 AM
@ShadowWizard Let's hope that's enough ;)

"morning"

@Mithrandir angussidney/droplet

morning

!!/morning

8:13 AM
@ShadowWizard No such command 'morning'.

!!/wut

So... everyone is having morning and no one is having a good morning?

@Mithrandir Whaddya mean, 'wut'? Humans...

@Tinkeringbell nobody said that! It's your pessimistic mind... ;)
I found what I looked for, happy now. :D

@Tinkeringbell I'm sitting with a laptop, camera, external hard drive, two phones, and a microSD card adapter, and getting annoyed at all of them and I haven't even eaten breakfast yet

8:17 AM
if (sitePerformance.states) {
    var workingObject = sitePerformance.states["WORKING"];
    if (workingObject)
        sitePerformance.workingTime = workingObject.time || 0;
}

@ShadowWizard It's because that mind didn't get enough sleep last night :P

That's the code to grab it! ^^ (as you see, the working time is inside the states ;))

To grab what?

@Tinkeringbell aww.... why is that? :/
@Mithrandir eat first, think later.

@Tinkeringbell eh, I'm quarreling with jQuery and semanticui modals
so a so-so morning

8:19 AM
18 hours ago, by Shadow Wizard
Now I need to dig in code written by someone else to find how I can extract work duration of machines. Wish me luck!
@Magisch komsi komsa?

@ShadowWizard Half is because a co-worker will be on parental leave two days earlier than planned, so I had to finish crocheting her gift last night instead of having 2 more evenings to spend on it ;)
The other half was that I was just awake.

Why not just buy her a gift card? :)

@ShadowWizard Not half as much fun

But... let you sleep... :D

8:22 AM
Nah, I would spend days fretting over what giftcard to buy and for how much money XD

also, assume co-worker from team #1 or #2, right? :)

@ShadowWizard Nope, team #3. But not the one that's dictating code ;)
She's a good person.

I always find gift cards to be cumbersome

Normal. Refreshingly normal :D

most people prefer just some cash or an actual gift

8:24 AM
@Magisch That too. I'm more likely to give cash than a giftcard. Unless people specifically ask for those ;)

@Tinkeringbell huh. See? Not all is dark. :P

@ShadowWizard Of course it is, I won't meet her again after today...

Oh. Too bad!

8:37 AM
any news about the cheese?

the competiion has been cheesed

@Mithrandir breakfast might help
:p

I got it after adding a second laptop to the mix.

Also sounds like a fun day off

9:08 AM
Still deciding which film to use for my aviation photography session tomorrow

It's a lurking JNat

@Magisch Start talking about food. I've never seen a CM that manages to keep lurking if you start talking about food.

Happy Hour!

what food?

9:21 AM
at the moment Cheerios

Uhmmm. Drop?
There must be some liquorice in my bag somewhere.

I'm still thinking what for dinner though... perhaps salad?

@andmyself I'm more worried about lunch. Yesterday they only had vegetarian snacks :/

@Tinkeringbell Good for me :)

.....

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog I'm sorry but that seems unkind to someone trying to help

@JourneymanGeek gone

I know the rule. i don,t see that one before post.

@Shree it's fine

9:27 AM
That said, is salad okay with delivery?

I can't always keep track of either
@andmyself ask the salad?
:p

More seriously depends

:r

are you trying to lick your nose?

9:29 AM
Some elements of a salad can go flaccid or soggy. Some elements travel better

also never put tomatoes in the fridge
Tink will say just not to have tomatoes at all

@Mithrandir why?

they end up tasting funny, especially cut - they taste much better when not in the fridge

huh, can't say I ever experienced funny-tasting tomatoes 'cause they were kept in the fridge
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

9:34 AM
I will absolutely refuse to eat cut tomatoes that have been put in the fridge. YMMV.

@Mithrandir Heh. People start to know me too well :P

@Mithrandir but also last only couple of days instead a whole week, even more.

since I eat whole tomatoes at a time, usually that's not an issue

I'll have pizza for dinner then...

9:37 AM
@andmyself Salad can have tomatoes too

Pizza. Can't go wrong there... ...unless you put pineapple on it. *runs*
Or corn. Or onions. Or tomatoes.
Really, just like stick to mushrooms and olives ;P

Looks like Hawaiian pizza...

Pizza is only doable if it has a lot of meat on it, so that you won't taste too much of the tomato base :P

@andmyself .ewww

...I can't have pizza with meat so I can't say I've ever tried it

9:40 AM
There's actually a cheese free pizza varient
@Mithrandir likewise

Pizza without cheese is not pizza.

I kinda prefer mine basic. Tomato sauce and cheese. Mom loads it with veggies tho

It is an abomination.

Errrr I meant tomatoes

@JourneymanGeek dunno, it just reminded me of buying Hawaiian pizza at Canadian Pizza in Singapore ._.
... if that makes sense

9:51 AM
@andmyself I think it does?

I miss Pizza Meter. Pizza shop which sold pizza by, well, meters. ;)

@ShadowWizard If you then make them as wide as cheese sticks, you don't get much pizza either :P

Turns out they're back!!
:D

10:10 AM
Looks like too much tomato :P

I like tomato sauce though. I was actually eating pizza for dinner (at a premium local pizza restaurant, not a fast food chain), and I requested they change the default olive oil cause to tomato sauce.

pizza!

@JourneymanGeek Usually, I just use extra cheese ;)
cheese, meat, veggies, more cheese :P

status-eating-leftover-pasta-from-yesterday
Welcome back @M.A.R. !!!

10:22 AM
ಠ_ಠ

@Tinkeringbell nah can't be too much of it in pizza... :D

@ShadowWizard there's no such thing as too much cheese.

Geez I keep saying, I won't be able to be on long and often
@JourneymanGeek you obviously haven't had too much cheese

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ ಠ_ಠ
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ its one of the great chasms in my family

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Still people can be happy to see just little glimpses of you :P

10:24 AM
@JourneymanGeek pizza?

Perfect pizza for me is basically tomato, and cheese and nearly burnt/

it's OK, good pizza is worth tearing families apart for

mom's like "It needs lots of veggies"
The other is pasta but that is a war that will never end. And I'm right.

fortunately "I'm" always right ;)

@AndrasDeak I cook my pasta till its almost done
then finish cooking it in the sauce.

10:25 AM
you should cook it until it's done, by definition ;)
@JourneymanGeek ah, ew

My parents cook pasta till its limp.
then cook it more

that's ew too

@AndrasDeak ew?

cook it once right, then add the rest separately on your plate :P

ugh, no.
Ok, I will accept that
but even then I think it needs to be allowed to finish cooking on its own
not waterboarded.
But my parents are clearly wrong there.
I love my mom's cooking.
But where pasta goes...

10:30 AM
overcooked pasta is never good

undercooked isn't edible either though.

Ooooh! I can live with that.

@Tinkeringbell undercooked is bad.

Chocolate is undercooked?

10:37 AM
pasta ;p

@JourneymanGeek I don't like undercooked anything. :P

@Tinkeringbell but but...
with dried pasta
getting the timing right means its done, well, as I like it

If it's undercooked I just say Pasta la vista and leave.

@AndrasDeak good sir! Expect a nice warm gift in your shoes when you least expect it

Hey that's not fair! I also want a gift.

10:40 AM
Sinterklaas is coming soon and he leaves gifts in one's shoes...
So I'd be expecting it on the 6th

5th, actually :P

I have only bad smell inside my shoe. :(

But then you wouldn't be expecting it least.
@ShadowWizard We will elevate that smell to new lows then.

And shoes are filled every Saturday evening, on the 5th there's a big pile of presents left somewhere in the house :P

@Tinkeringbell takes him a day to get here

10:41 AM
@Tinkeringbell your dogs must be disgruntled.

@Tinkeringbell Sounds like fun!
But isn't the tradition to hang all the presents on the tree? @Tinker

@JourneymanGeek Who said a dog was filling them? It's Sinterklaas :P

.... maaaan...

@ShadowWizard Nope, that's Christmas. Where you put them in stockings or underneath the tree

@ShadowWizard Christmas. And under

10:42 AM
I can't imagine how angry he must be to leave warm gifts in people's shoes.

We don't do that as we always got presents at Sinterklaas

also... must eat a lot.

Here Saint Nick comes on the 6th with sweets, and at Christmas Baby Jesus brings presents :D

my family doesnt do christmas

@AndrasDeak huh? Isn't that what you all talk about now? (Sinterklaas sounds like, well, Santa Claus... ;))

10:43 AM
@ShadowWizard It's difficult :P

@ShadowWizard same guy

Sinterklaas > Sint Nikolaas > Saint Nick

@AndrasDeak I didn't know they had diapers in his time...

Some roman catholic saint, still wearing a catholic dress for example.

It's just that Muricans confuse everything ;)

10:44 AM
@Tinkeringbell huh. So many different holidays in same time! lol
In Hanukkah we just give the kids some gifts and/or money.
@Mithrandir you still get "דמי חנוכה"? Or are you after that stage already? :)
Think we might give our children 20 NIS this time.

> In one of the earliest attested and most famous incidents from his life, he is said to have rescued three girls from being forced into prostitution by dropping a sack of gold coins through the window of their house each night for three nights so their father could pay a dowry for each of them.

Hence putting your boots in the window sill

What... is.. it? lol

Saint Nicholas
So you put your boots in the window on the night of the 5th and by the 6th they're filled with sweets

10:47 AM
Or bird poop. :P

Unless you were naughty :P

@AndrasDeak Huh.. we put them 'near the hearth' or in this case underneath the radiator :P Cause the presents arrive via chimney, everyone knows that!

and babies arrive with storks!
:D

there's no chimney aspect here

@ShadowWizard Yes, they do that here too. I'm always careful around storks. ;)

10:50 AM
I want to say because my people were too smart to accept that, but it's more likely they were too poor to own chimneys each :P

@Tinkeringbell lol
