@Somewhat that's simple.

4 hours later…
5:15 AM
Morning!

5:49 AM
hi

GOOD AFTERNOON!

@JourneymanGeek Someone is having a good Friday already XD

lol
A bit stressed out actually lol

Ah. That's the other common cause of shouting XD

lol
I was complaining in off chat chat about stuff but got hijacked lol

6:01 AM
Oh. Please don't feel obliged to have me distract you from your complaining!

Oh no worries
Clearly he needed the winge more ;p

Hehehe

the logistics of transporting 100 pieces of pastry worked out fine

Oh, wow... welcome internet...
(just set up a new office PC for iOS dev)

6:34 AM
@Magisch :D

@Magisch Now I'm hungry.

@Mithrandir have 45k calories of german pastry

I'm eating Berliner while riding Berliner

these

...those look like jelly donuts

6:35 AM
they are jelly filled donuts
I brought 100 of them. I think one is about 500 kcal give or take with cream and jelly filling

They're a "traditional" food eaten around Chanukah, called sufganiyot. They're better with chocolate inside instead of jelly :D

here they're almost always with jelly
and powdered sugar on top
monstrous pastries, these. I don't like them at all but people in my office do

Yeah, that's the "standard".
For now, though, I have bread and butter for breakfast, so I'll go eat that

I had an excellent quinoa and feta cheese salad for breakfast

I had a whole croissant.

6:47 AM
sounds almost healthy.

Breakfast makes me nauseous.

I skipped breakfast.
Last night's chickpeas sat at the bottom of my stomach ;p

I had a... glass of water ._.

they sell a small dish of quinoa + feta cheese + some small seeds salat

hmm
My new router is fun

6:48 AM
directly for like 1.30€

I dug up my old NUC #3 so I have something to configure it for testing.
(#1 and #2 burnt out, so #3 is rarely used. #4 is going to be partially replaced by this too)
@Magisch is the feta marinated? crumbled or cubes?

small cubes
I get that dish whenever they have it at the store, it's so good

ah ya
My brother gets annoyed whenever we run out.
He's the only one who eats it.

darn, now I want cubed cheese...

7:13 AM
cubed feta cheese yaaaaas

7:34 AM
cubed any cheese :D

7:58 AM
@JourneymanGeek so tell him to buy it himself! ;)

@ShadowWizard he doth not adult ;p

So? Give him some money and send him to the nearest market... :D

And have him come home with everything except cubed feta :P

8:23 AM
@Tinkeringbell so give him money only enough for whatever it is he want to buy. ;)
I give my kids 1.1 NIS every week. :D

@ShadowWizard That money could still be used for other purposes then ;)

They once used it to buy in market.
@Tinkeringbell sure, but damage is low. :)
To be honest, I didn't like cubed cheese (think it was feta) when trying it. Prefer slices.
Or one "block" which I can slice.

@ShadowWizard Yeah, those are generally better :)

fresh cubes or slices have this thing to them that pre-sliced or cut stuff doesn't have.

8:26 AM
calculating time left to play Ni Nu Kuni
20 minutes... hmm... worth it!
@Tinkeringbell yup

@ShadowWizard Hmmm? What's happening in 20 minutes? :P

@Tinkeringbell have to go get my kids from school and kindergarten. ;)
Daughter finish at 12, son at 12:45

@ShadowWizard Oh... I'll keep from disturbing you further then! Go have fun while you can ;)

lol will do!
giving some fresh slices of cheese to @Tink as token of gratitude

starts munching

8:44 AM
@Tinkeringbell he bought skimmed milk. 2 cartons of it

@JourneymanGeek I warned you!

I mostly do ok helping my mom shop
++ only I do the special grocery runs
The reward for doing something well is more work to do

heh
I can attest to that. My reward for being the only one to even remember GDPR being a thing was being made DPO and now I have to deal with it. I guess the lesson is be mediocre

9:00 AM
See?

be mediocre at everything so people don't give you extra work. genius.

The fun of getting a windows update while you are prepping for a sprint review. No stress ....

@Magisch commence Atlas Shrugged

9:25 AM
@Mithrandir if atlas dropped the world on Zeus's feet a few times....

9:59 AM
@JourneymanGeek I'm not sure why Zeus would be on Othrys, though :D

how can I view a question that I deleted?

Your own?

10:15 AM
you find a link to it.
If its recent it may be in your profile

At the bottom of your questions list I think? And if not older than 60 days

Otherwise consider bribing a mod with cheese very politely asking a mod.
ANd giving them all the information you can
@Bart possibly

10:51 AM
someone pulled a plug on Utrecht CS ...

@rene NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
How am I ever going to get home!

I dunno, I'm getting my car now and drive to Westraven instead
speaking of detours ...

Ugh. Trouble at Utrecht means trouble everywhere! I don't even have to go past Utrecht today... I'm going to smile really friendly at a co-worker now.

inb4 you have to go to HR for workplace harassment.

Nah, harassment only happens the other way around. Everybody knows that! /s

1 hour later…
12:04 PM
I'm in Utrecht ....
finally

Da's mooi.
Oh, you edited.
Sounds good ;)
Delays are now expected to go on until at least 15:00

12:27 PM
is it appropriate to flag a user for potential abuse of the reputation gains from suggested edits?

how would a user abuse reputation gains?

bad reviews

if they're making consistently poor edits, that may be a valid flag
if they're making OK edits, and gaining reputation for them being reviewed, that's just normal
if they're doing bad things with the privileges that they unlock with that reputation, that's a valid flag
if consistently bad/negative edits are getting through the review system, that's worth a flag because the user and their reviewers might need some speaking to

for example this (low rep) user has submitted a large quantity of edits, in a very small time frame on numerous occasions, with the majority of this user's reputation coming from edits
with a number of edits changing exception messages from block quotes to code blocks and vice versa

Not necessarily a problem. Their edits will be reviewed. If they are bad, but get through, the reviewers are a problem.
But don't hesitate to flag. Worst thing that can happen is that it's rejected. Just be clear about what you're seeing, and include links to examples.

12:36 PM
a fair amount are accepted by OP (new members as well) so aren't making their way through the reviews

Then don't fear the flag. Just keep it at one, and point out the broader pattern.

they really need to increase the character limit on mod flags

1:43 PM

@WhatsThePoint what's the point?
;-)

Khalid El Khatib on October 12, 2018

It’s been an exciting 2018 for Stack Overflow. In late spring, we launched our Welcome Wagon initiative to make the network more welcoming. In May, we shipped Stack Overflow for Teams and made our knowledge-sharing platform accessible to teams of any size. And September marked our 10th anniversary, which celebrated the 25 million answers to 16 million questions that have been viewed 12.3 billion times by developers.

We’ve grown the ways that we serve developers, and we’re growing our Executive team to support these initiatives as well our ever-expanding community. The team has two new members, and one of our long-time executives has a new role. …

Wow, that was exciting /s
3

@ShadowWizard as when you include a few links you use the 500 limit very quickly

Forgive him. It's Friday and he's being punny. :p

2:14 PM
Any idea how to close the inbox in the chat top bar now that it's without CSS?

Awesome, thanks
I'm wondering - should the obsolete folder be replaced by an MD linking to files in past revisions?

Isn't this a weird state for the topbar: i.stack.imgur.com/irjZC.png ?

Let me guess - you're logged in but you don't have an account for that site

yes, exactly
I would expect the topbar to be anonymous in that case

nah
It's still you, it's just that you don't exist yet.

Hm, okay. That kind of makes sense

(r/nocontext)

4:22 PM
@rene it's not new, been like that since the new global login was implemented by Adam.

I don't recall I ever saw that

Think it doesn't "work" on SOFU since different domain.

yeah, I reckoned it had something to do with that

4:34 PM
Hi Tiny ... oh, gone

\o ;)

If someone official wanted to either confirm or deny this at some point, that would be appreciated.
I was considering pinging someone official but decided against it.
Besides, the one who's name starts with "s" isn't in here right now.

5:04 PM
yes, because of the pinging ...

@rene What kind of Tiny? An @TheTinyMan? Weird. He usually isn't shy XD

Do you mean the one whose second letter is H, on one whose second name used to start with H?

@Tinkeringbell hm, no but I can't expand on that. Sorry.

@rene It's okay ;) I was just looking for new material to tease that particular user with XD
If it wasn't them I'm no longer interested :P

How was your travel back home?

5:19 PM
Eventful. Not because of the outage but because of people ;)
Did you know that the NS isn't allowed to get certain information from the OV chipkaart company (I think the company isn't allowed to store it either) so they send these people through the train to scan your card and collect it that way?

the pastry invasion was a full success today
all of them got eaten

Nice!

I successfully added 45k kcal to the pizza laden friday in the company
\o/

@Tinkeringbell oh, is that the reizigers onderzoek?

@rene Yep! I said no ;)
Kind of a weird loophole if you think about it

5:25 PM
yeah.
@Tinkeringbell and you got kicked from the train? :)

@rene no, but people looked weird and she didn't have any succes in our compartment any more. More people refused after overhearing us...

LOL

I honestly never met one before, but apparently they've been a thing for a long time

Yeah, it happens now and then.
Most strange is that on those days you never see the Conducteur

we have a system here where employees walk through the train and ticket people
coverage is designed so it's barely not worth it to not buy a ticket

5:36 PM
@rene True!
Didn't see one today either
But Arnhem Zwolle is barely checked

I can't tell, never made that journey, at least not by train
@Magisch yeah, and isn't there a bonus for them when they sell a ticket?

@rene if you get caught without a ticket you get a 60€ fine

Hmm, I think that is what it is here as well.
I never tried ;)

@rene The pinging will continue until morale improves.

6 to 8 years ...

5:41 PM
That's a lot of pinging...

let's write a bot... we wait on reddit till morale is up ...

2 hours later…
7:20 PM
@rene and because not enough beer. 🍺

7:50 PM
Maybe rename Happy Hour to be Cheesy Hour?

8:01 PM
@ShadowWizard Happy happy cheese hour? :p

Not yet
Yet not?

@ShadowWizard Too bad. I always miss it. It's past my bedtime XD

happiness(eat, drink, enjoy_your_work)

@Tinkeringbell even for me, yeah... 2 AM
It is US only event. :/

@ShadowWizard Discrimination! XD
I'll just have my own... ;)

8:05 PM
Cheese?

There's ... honestly not much to miss. It's usually pretty dead.

@Catija Not my fault XD
@ShadowWizard perhaps. I'll go and raid the fridge ;)

@Catija true... I do remember some active Happy Hours back when Shog was.... around.
And happy.
(though maybe only due to the beer ;))

or just alcohol in general. :P

I have chips. Nothing tasty in the fridge :(

8:14 PM
:(
I have tons of stuff in the fridge.
Lol
Guess I better use desktop, mobile is too touchy for long messages
No apes in my fridge!

@ShadowWizard no apes? Still lacking stuff then ;)

Oh, hey... in a week or two, I might be able to drink something alcoholic... and eat sushi... and lunchmeat. So much to celebrate!

8:34 PM
@Catija Yay! Enjoy it, until the baby wakes up crying again ;)

Maybe it will help me sleep ;)

It has to ;) makes me wonder... Do you have any of those weird pregnancy food preferences, or are you just craving the stuff you can't have right now? ;)

8:52 PM
I haven't had any, with either pregnancy. There's so much mythos around cravings I was expecting to be hit with them and be constantly eating pickles and ice cream... but nada. The only thing I want is what I'm not allowed... which is just basic psychology. :P

@Catija my dad keeps telling me mom was eating pickles with whipped cream when she was pregnant with me... I've never had mom confirm it though, she just smiles and looks funny. I think I'd be missing a enough standard stuff to keep away from pickles with whipped cream, and it's likely best ;)
Basic psychology sometimes sucks :)

And, of course, if I were in Japan, they don't actually tell you not to eat sushi at all... because they trust their suppliers to prepare it properly... There's nothing wrong with sushi in general, it's just higher risk. :sigh:

@Catija Next time you should just plan a trip to Japan somewhere in your third trimester ;)
Or make your own?

What is this "next time" of which you speak??? I'm an old lady! There is no "next time".

@Catija hmmm. The very Dutch reply to that would be 'accidents happen' ;)

9:00 PM
There are ways of preventing accidents, though... which leave only acts of god. :P

Miracles exist too! :D
And acts of sabotage XD

:/
When it comes to something like this, sabotage is... a huge breach of trust.
at the least.

I realize that ;) I was thinking of stuff like goo.gl/images/ePM2Wr, though it's not exactly sabotage ... Didn't know the better word

@Catija heh.. What about raw eggs? My wife suffered from the lack of things like real chocolate mousse which contains raw eggs...
And burgers, which she had to eat only Well Done.

@Tinkeringbell Sure, that's a joke - I would hope - but actually doing that with a partner ... really, really not OK... Which is why I'm saying something... It's not OK in a way that I can't be OK with even joking about it.

9:16 PM
@Catija I ll try to pick more appropriate jokes

@ShadowWizard I don't eat much that has raw eggs... if anything... I don't generally choose to go for things like poached eggs, either. Burgers I like but we haven't really gotten high quality ones recently.

There seems to be some stuff that we joke about a lot over here, but isn't acceptable elsewhere. I'll look into it.

@Tinkeringbell "here" you mean your personal circle of friends and family? Or country in general? :)

@ShadowWizard I guess both, although it's of course 'worse' with the people you're closer with

@Tinkeringbell Oh, people joke about it over here all the time, too... There's even movies that have "I really wanted a baby but my husband didn't so I poked a hole in my diaphragm so he thinks I'm on BC but I'm not." as part of the plot... comedic films... that I used to find funny. It's bad when the woman is the one doing it - at least she's the most impacted by it... but when a guy does it to his partner it's worse.

9:19 PM
I am still far from "that" stage with my kids, but hope "The Talk" will be enough, without need to leave... Notes. ;-)

@ShadowWizard Don't forget to teach them consent. That's one of the most important parts and gets overlooked in the "don't have babies" push. Consent and respect.

@Catija Hmm. I'll look into it nonetheless. This isn't the first time I've been told something isn't something to joke about ;)
Now I want to know

@Catija well real accidents do happen though.. I can tell from experience. (looong time ago o_o)

@ShadowWizard Yeah, but "sabotage" isn't a real accident.

Of course

9:22 PM
If you're choosing a method of BC that has a risk associated with it, you accept that risk. If your partner is poking holes in your BC, you have a trust problem and a communication problem.

@Catija true for many other things, yeah.
Guess the easiest and most common is for a woman to "forget" taking a pill. Not implying anything! Just saying.

There's a lot of discussion about why there's a pill for women and not for men... and I think a lot of it comes down to who is affected by the outcomes. If a woman doesn't want a child, she really, really has to trust a partner to trust that they're taking the pill. If the woman's on the pill, she only has to trust herself in taking it appropriately and trust that the pill works.

Well pill has like 99% success rate so it is rather safe.

@Catija I'm a wreck with remembering mine though, so one for my imaginary prince would be appreciated

Heh
@Catija will do! :)

9:26 PM
In the best of both worlds, I suppose, there's a pill for both of them and they both take it all the time, which reduces the risk for them both with perfect usage and allows for the occasional less-than-perfect usage.

@Catija what do you mean? In restaurant as well?

@ShadowWizard When we go out to eat, we tend to not go to restaurants that serve burgers... unless we're just grabbing a local fast-food burger, which is always cooked well done.

@Catija well I guess it is hard to find a way from stopping the body from generating sperm which is what a "male pill" should be doing.

So, "high quality" burgers would be a place that sells them cooked to your preference of doneness.

@Catija most restaurants I go to have those. :)

9:30 PM
@ShadowWizard Yep. There's one that's making its way through testing. sciencenews.org/article/…

@Catija nice!
Back to the original subject!
@Tinkeringbell I was going to write down everything in my fridge, but pic is better, so:
:-)

That's a scary amount of tomatoes. Enough to trigger nightmares!

rofl
Well my baby daughter love tomatoes
She eats whole tomato in few minutes, it's insane! :D

@ShadowWizard yeah, she's insane XD
I've finished reading the chapter I was reading, I'm going now! Night!

Night!
What book?

10:40 PM
@ShadowWizard allegedly very hot bath is effective
Just need to pair it with modern technology and make sure it works

user310756
11:14 PM
I love tomatoes

user310756
My 24 yo son hated tomatoes as a kid and still does. though he eats tomato sauce, pizza and Italian sauces on pasta hmmm

11:36 PM
@YvetteColomb heh, weird boy! ;)
@JourneymanGeek "daddy, why I was born?"... Daddy: "because daddy got a bad advise once involving bath"... ;-)

user310756
@ShadowWizard 24 yo 6 foot 1. Often sports a beard. No boy.

So weird man... :-D
I don't eat whole tomatoes but can eat them as part of salad. :)
