@AaronHall It has one advantage for a moderator candidate. You've already posted everything in the full knowledge that it can come back to you professionally.
@rene There was an entire MSE post, quite recently, about the harassment that moderators receive.
And Brad has handed out a lot of review suspensions. Which is why he's one of my favorite moderators.

meagarCurrently, when a moderator messages a user, the user sees which moderator is messaging them. This includes when a moderator issues a timed suspension. Generally, I have no problem with this. Sometimes a user needs to be gently reminded to be nicer in comments, or to disclose when they're advert...

In retrospect, we should have added that to the questionnaire... "Are you prepared to deal with off-site harassment and doxxing?"
Maybe phrased a bit different, as "harassment" may imply physical violence... which AFAIK hasn't happened yet. But we should not understate the off-site problems a moderator may get.

The underlying question is "are you aware that you can get a lot of off-site nastiness from vengeful users".
But that would be a bit of a yes/no question.

I have no idea. My guess is that re-nominations are blocked so that when we revoke one, the user doesn't come back. But that's a WAG of the first order.
