Why does ask ubuntu's color scheme look semi-decent while most of the rest of SE looks awful?

On most of our sites, we're using an SVG for the logo, but Mathematica is a special case because the logo is such a complex shape with so many colors, it was a large file that didn't render well in all browsers. So, instead we're using an @2x PNG. — Kurtis Beavers Mar 13 at 19:38

Stack Overflow is a privately held website, the flagship site of the Stack Exchange Network, created in 2008 by Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolsky, as a more open alternative to earlier Q&A sites such as Experts-Exchange. The name for the website was chosen by voting in April 2008 by readers of Coding Horror, Atwood's popular programming blog. It features questions and answers on a wide range of topics in computer programming. The website serves as a platform for users to ask and answer questions, and, through membership and active participation, to vote questions and answers up or down and edit questions...

@Undo He just nukes the spam. In fact, all the questions on DD have been spam.

lol

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. In fact it's probably very similar to one of those messages.

Do you support HTML, @bjb568?

11:01 PM
In the markdown? No.
See formatting help.
(I'll add a link to it on the ask page)

What formatting help?

@bjb568 Please delete my account.

Aww, why?

DD is so horrible right now I don't even want any of my data on there.

11:06 PM
:o

Well, you can help write it if you want…
"testtest", right?

Why would I do a thing like that?
@bjb568 yeah.

@hichris123 Because you want them.

Not quite...
I want someone who is working on the project to write them.

11:08 PM
Start working on the project by writing them.

I have... better things to do. ;)

account nuked

lol search doesn't even work.

@hichris123 Well, any idea how I could write them or somebody who can?

@bjb568 IANAL, so no.

@bjb568 I can write it, but how would we know your policies and your terms?

How am I supposed to know my policies and my terms?

Nov 20 '14 at 2:59, by Rafflesia arnoldii
@bjb568 Sure. Use a ToS generator

Meh, I don't like that in the same way I don't like using other people's code.
You may not… "modify or copy the materials"
That's not right.
Things have to be custom-written.

When you write your terms, you're gotta know what you're writing for.

11:21 PM
@bjb568 make me modz.

> I am nominating myself as a candidate because I want the election to be able to proceed. :)
Anyway, I hope I've set the bar low enough that others will nominate themselves as well, but I am willing to serve if no one else is willing to step up. http://money.stackexchange.com/election/2#post-47636

It'll need:
- Acceptable use (no canned meat pls)
- Copyright/licensing of user data (idk how to even)
- Oh right, DD also has IP! (oh noes!)
- We can change these terms! (so meta)
- It's not our fault(tm) if teh 1337 jQ haxxorz trick you into running a split bomb (it's yours, idiot)
- Don't use IE (I *think* this belongs here?)
- Don't iframe or exploit us (That *shouldn't* be possible… probably)
- We can ban you! (duh)
- We're in Ohio and there's law here (horray)

11:30 PM
@bjb568 soooo DD is an LLC?

Something like that.

An LLC is a real thing you have to go buy

> Yes, the election needs you. Will the site need you though? Do you think you'll make a good moderator given you're running as a candidate where everyone else seems to have more reputation points and, really, are just more active? If not, what gives? – Unihedron 9 secs ago

Wiki says LLC is something that DD sounds like.

> The filing fee for the Articles is $125.00

11:33 PM
Oh god why is it a pdf?
Do I have to bother if I don't make money?

if you want to call yourself an LLC
Otherwise you are not an LLC.
You're a guy on the Internet. DevDoodle, GOTI.

@bjb568 If you don't make money than what laws cover you?
- We're in Ohio and there's law here (horray)

Why would you think I know?

Ugh. Ohio.
That state goes on forever and ever and ever.

Because you listed it.

It seems to protect against lawsuits. But how would somebody sue me if I'm just an anonymous website maker?

@bjb568 Yeah, so they really don't have to be mentioned.
The laws, I mean.
I'll try write one, then you can wrench the text to your liking.

Are you sleepy? You just replied to the wrong message then said "I'll try write one".

I may or may not be sleepy.

I think what I want is a non-profit.

... that's typically not what non-profits are for.
Those are 5013c's, right?

11:43 PM
A nonprofit organization (NPO, also known as a non-business entity) is an organization that uses its surplus revenues to further achieve its purpose or mission, rather than distributing its surplus income to the organization's directors (or equivalents) as profit or dividends. This is known as the distribution constraint. The decision to adopt a nonprofit legal structure is one that will often have taxation implications, particularly where the nonprofit seeks income tax exemption, charitable status and so on. The nonprofit landscape is highly varied, although many people have come to associate...

It looks good to me. I don't need money.

Ah, close.

@bjb568 MathOverflow is 501(c)(3). Here are their incorporation documents.

user259867
Who's in the Board of Directors of DD?

uh… me

I don't think anything has been established. It's probably not even a proper organization, just an entity for copyright holding.
.... which is why I had to ask

Unincorporated nonprofit organization?
Heh, texas.
