6:00 PM
and thus did the doom clock tick ever closer to finality

You're absolutely welcome

@M.A.R. I don't know why you think those plans rely on neurons. I don't monologue that much, do I?

@Tinkeringbell I have inside information from everyone's neurons.
It's called microchips

I could use some chips, though I don't want mine micro... that'll give crumbs everywhere.

We just have Bill take most of the blame
@Tinkeringbell It's messy business

6:02 PM
@M.A.R. Poor Bill.

Back to learning more about the alimentary hole

Tell me about it. My brother usually squeezes the bag, so there's only crumbs. That way, he can fit more into a single bowl without mom and dad commenting the bowl is too full XD

But he's not the one who has to clean up :(
@M.A.R. Good luck!

@M.A.R. I wonder why they don't understand it. It sounds pretty... alimentary to me.

Baaaaaaaad :P

6:04 PM
>:(
🚪 <---

Is that a door or a stick of chocolate?

It's a very tiny door.
Though chocolate does sound good...

🍫

@Spevacus Yeah, someone mentioned it today and now it's been on my mind all the time!

a door?

6:12 PM
Uh oh. Cody Gray's tossing some fun our way: meta.stackexchange.com/q/350918/622284

@Spevacus I gave it some kind of edit but yeah, that was more entertaining while on MSO.
@rene chocolate. And now you made me think of it again :(

@ShadowWizardWearingMask Shalom.

@Spevacus So that thing might be getting a bit more traction. I'm glad actually.

@Tinkeringbell Looks like a good edit. :) Also, yeah, I preferred that being on MSO, but I suppose this as a feature request does apply to the network as a whole.

@M.A.R. To be honest, it's kinda sad to see something from a site election make so much trouble that it apparently affects the whole network. But then again, I assume something similar happened to have the 'let's disallow nominations from people suspended in the past year' written...

6:20 PM
@Tinkeringbell IIRC that one was posted when no major controversial thing was going on
And it became controversial only recently

@M.A.R. You recall that one? Woah, you're SE old...

Nah, I'm superhuman

@M.A.R. I mostly assumed that most of the three points raised there for disallowing nominations had happened sometime in the past, and that they were not creative creations...
Guess I assumed wrong then ;)

@Tinkeringbell Well, it wasn't a very recent past then
But yeah they happened, and way before that

@Spevacus If someone gave me chocolate for everytime I made a bad joke no chocolate since all my jokes are amazing ;-)

6:23 PM
@M.A.R. Given that it took until '16 to write that post perhaps says something :P But yeah ;)

So Shog or someone took the initiative and made a policy to reduce some headache due for every election in sites like Physics where gangs previously banned caused trouble
(In Phys, for example, you had knowledgeable people that created a ton of problems, so got suspended badly too, and they moved to physics overflow, for example)
But every once in a while you had someone yelling "remember, remember, the fifth of November" and some delicious drama at the early phases of every election

I'm almost sorry I missed it ;)

You know how I feel
I'm having honeydew. In the absence of chocolate, this'll do

Time to go back to studying?

Rob
6:39 PM
@Tinkeringbell ... and the first commenter is 🥁📯:
Isn't it a bit like killing a fly with a bazooka? I'm willing to bet the majority of user handles (heck, even the majority of highly active users) don't reference causes or issues. — StoryTeller - Unslander Monica 2 hours ago

Meh. That's also a valid opinion to hold.
Though it would be better expressed in an answer than a comment, to allow fair voting.
Then again I'm not going to do anything, most of the people here use comments that way too.

Rob
Did they hold it prior to the election, is the question being asked of candidates; their comment is: 'meh'.
...and their name is also a comment. That's what the question is about, or did I just wake up and need to read it again?

eh,
who's name is a comment

Rob
Yours

@Rob I'd say you read it again. Including the linked post...

6:44 PM
i keep being tempted to explain it here, but, it's already explained there and in the linked post
so

But let's keep discussion here focused on the question of whether or not name changes should be able to happen during elections, and keep the discussion about whether the specific name change on the specific site during the specific election is or isn't appropriate in whatever room is the chatroom for that election, or the specific site's meta.

evening everyone

Though I realize that makes discussion a bit harder, I think that's doable.
Hey!
Falling with your nose in the butter?

ooh! a parrot!

Yeah, nice, huh?

6:46 PM
ooh! a cattus!

catcus
How's everyone

i'd say yes. I think we can trust people who are running for moderator to not do slimey things and let the voters decide if they do. (again not speaking of the case that brought up this question.) Interference should only occur if it breaks the CoC
otherwise... we're entering into muddy waters

I think SE has a point with minimizing drama during elections
it's bad for the vetting process if people with lots of dirt on their plate are hogging the spotlight and discussions

That's true too, and this could be seen as not doing so...

There's a limited amount of attention the public is going to pay to the process. If all of that is used up by a juicy drama war every election then the other candidates don't get their due attention and scrutiny
We don't need more of the constant mud and slogan slinging that real world elections too often degenerate into

6:52 PM
True, true... though that's also dangerously close to being able to be used against any form of criticism of a candidate...

It's a balance of course
Mean's we're back to trust in whoever decides that, eh?

Eh... I think you should do any name changes you like before you nominate, even if those changes are an explicit attempt to garner more attention/appeal to potential voters (in any way.) Doing one as the election ticks down to completion feels a little wrong. The context behind the one on SO is a bit more so considering the content of the new name (sorry I know I shouldn't allude to it but)... Anyway. I dunno... One man's humble opinion :D

@Magisch Yep...

Rob
^^ or before it's announced to start.

That'd do, too, Rob.

6:58 PM
I think name changes should be allowed, but they should meet up to the same standards as described in meta.stackexchange.com/questions/274114/…

Rob
@Tinkeringbell Nothing arising from that ..

7:10 PM
@Rob I'm sorry. :(

7:26 PM
@Tinkeringbell I'm with you there.

Good. I put it up in an answer ;)
So far, it seems more people agree, which is nice :)

Shut up and take my upvote :)

I can only hope that such a proposal does not just move the drama to a moderator chat and then to a CM team XD
It feels kinda weird saying that I suggest moderators or CMs handle this, when I know I won't the be the mod/CM handling the current case :|

I don't wanna touch that stuff with a ten foot pole.

Rob
:( - no escalator emoji.

7:30 PM
Perhaps a stairs?

I've got a climbing emoji: 🧗

That works, now that we all know what we're talking about :P

;-;

6 hours ago, by Shadow Wizard Wearing Mask
@Rob indeed, it will take a LOT of time to reach floor 100.
Also: 🚠 or 🐌🗻

I'd take the snail and the mountain :)

Rob
7:36 PM
I'll take the gondola and watch
A feature of that mountain (that style emoji) is that there's ice at the top, as opposed to the other mountain type; which is green pastures all the way: ⛰️

That one looks icy on top too... at least, it's more white than green!
Gondola's are nice too, though the last one I took (in Germany, last year) was... superscary getting out of.

Rob
The rendering is different on different systems, unfortunately.

Yeah, it's looking like this on my windows:

🚽

Rob
🔬👀

7:45 PM
The whole mountain? That's impressive plumbing...

Rob
That's where Pixelman lives. ;D

@Rob There's also commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Emoji/Table if you want big versions with pixels ;)
Aww, it's not working :(

Rob
That page isn't browser friendly, for a cellphone. But it offers another suggestion:
🐌🌋

Poor snail.
unless it's delivering a ring? ;)

How does a snail deliver a ring?

7:52 PM
slowly.

Does it hang the ring on its eyestalks?

Probably on it's shell.

Rob
🤔

on its shell it's unstable, in its shell it's physically impossible unless it's small enough to get eaten.

@JohnDvorak superglue? :P Perhaps better gun glue, that'll probably melt again when hot, near lava. It can push the ring the last bit :P

7:57 PM
choosing glue that doesn't detach in heat is also a problem because then it would...n't detach.

those are marine though

So? If a ring has to be delivered, sending in marines seems proper :P

@JohnDvorak Lots of volcanoes are under water!

you have a point

Rob
8:01 PM

(and so do they)
🚪

Rob
8:24 PM
@Tinkeringbell In the event that someone wonders "who is Pixelman?" (what's Rob talking about 😕):

what's Rob talking about 😕

Rob
🏄‍♂️

I can't tell if that's karate kid punching an ice cream or a guy on a rocket
Surfing?
We should just have The Last Supper as an emoji. With all the details.

@M.A.R. oh. The emoji. I thought you were talking about the picture above it lol.
I was quite confused.

what's MAR talking about 😕

Rob
8:30 PM
You were close @M.A.R, it's: Jesús Rodríguez Picó

I'm still hungry.
Are those the names of the guys invited to the supper

@M.A.R. 🍞🍷💀

Rob
Yes

Oh, some amiable looking music guy
@JohnDvorak ⚔ 🎌

Rob
Can't you tell from the clear sketch?:

Rob
9:11 PM
I figured NAA, after an edit it doesn't deserve.

Rob
9:52 PM
Should'a used f or n.

2 hours later…
11:36 PM
@Rob Without the latter part of the answer's body, I'd agree with you. But that last part falls under this guidance

hi

Hello!

What is on topic here?

Anything, honestly.
Just nothing too crazy. :)

11:57 PM
Do you have an idea as to how long should I look forward to receiving a reply from the staff?
