In the spirit of @anon ....
I wonder if the ability to leave a anonymous, completely stock comment for a downvote would be a terrible idea
1. It educates people
2. It maintains the ability to remain anonymous while voting

1:23 AM
Ah

2:19 AM
Well, I won't comment when downvoting if the close reason will explain it at the end. So, put aside "list of reasons to downvote", there's none other than "Other".
It gets murkier with the answers though, but again, I won't comment if it's one of the reasons listed in VLQ review. Except the comment might not be posted in the first place.

user315433
2:42 AM
People do not downvote nearly enough; placing more UI on the way to downvoting will make it worse.

user315433
Compare with those canned comments in LQRQ: they are completely optional, to be used only when they fit. Yet, some reviewers honestly think (and say so on meta) that one shouldn't vote to delete unless one of reasons fits. UI makes them think so.

2:54 AM
A solution would be to put a new link next to "comment" when you have a downvote on the question. It won't increase the click count for those who don't want to comment.
another positive is that it teaches people what kind of language is expected in the comment section

Lifehacks is 3 years old today. Most viewed question of last year: Where to put used-but-usable clothes (a.k.a. alternative to “The Chair”)?

user315433
Under 20K views, reflecting how the site faded over the years. The all-time high is close to 500K views: How to sleep with a stuffy / blocked nose?

I remembered that question got into HNQ. Well, that's the only way to get the highest view...
Psst, reddit

I've always been surprised when questions simply accumulate a lot of views from web referrals.

@Catija a lot of HNQs on SU get extra eyeballs off of a howtogeek contributor who just scrapes em

3:30 AM
Huh, did I edit my message after 2 minutes?
I'm currently on mobile, so anything can be potential bug

@AndrewT. It says 3:27 and 3:29... so that sounds like a 50/50 chance :P
I can't see an exact, to-the-second, timestamp on the history page, though... :(

Out of those 4, the only one matching "has inactive accounts" is gparyani

@CrazyIvan actually feels like the sort of thing he'd do ;p

... Whoever that is... ;)
... I mean... I don't know... but... yeah. This is what I get for being new here.

@Catija I think I remember him from... 3-4 years ago?

I joined MSE end of Feb 2015... so probably before my time here.

superuser.com/election/3#post-744851 his nickname was damryfbfnetsi at the time....

4:18 AM
Ooooh, I'm only 4 rep short of being #1 for the week :P

;p
I think the spammer rep train's come to a halt for me. Yay?

sounds about right

Second place for the year is pretty awesome, though :D

In September, a Tor mod decided to step down. Pops got the message and started looking for new mods... but that was October 26.

user315433
Since then: no new mods, no stepping down, no Pops.

user315433
@JourneymanGeek Okay, I'm going to consider the mystery solved.

4:50 AM
@CrazyIvan And the one requesting to step down has been seen most recently.
That said, based on what Pops said in the mod search meta post, they don't have trouble keeping the site moderated, so it's possible that a replacement isn't necessary...

user315433
Maybe they just don't want to be "seen recently", being Tor users and all.

Or they're all using socks. :P
Oooh, yay. New profile image finally popped in.

5:10 AM
@Catija lol. Just a sign of too much free time? ;p
(well, actually, my reputation with respect to actual posting on MSE is... pretty high compared to the other sites for me I suspect)

hah
Now we need something else to keep @CrazyIvan occupied ;p

gparyaniI recently recreated my MSE account after having deleted it a few years ago. @Catija ya, was talking to @ano about that ;p

I see.
@JourneymanGeek Eh. It's Saturday night in the US... probably not too many people around.

yup
but he's trying to ping CM's on the assembly, lol

I saw. What is that room even for?
It's all moddy.

6:18 AM
lol
Kinda like the network-wide find a mod room?
No one uses it
kinda like how SU has a ask a mod room

Prolly cause no one knows it exists.
The room description isn't exactly... clear.

yup
@Catija lol I didn't know about it for a large chunk of being a mod

@JourneymanGeek what's the point? You remove one, 9 others pop up. :/

@ShadowWizard Now that looks suspicious...

@ShadowWizard oh, the tide has stopped
also, tbh, It feels like I can do something about it? ;p

@AndrewT. :D
@JourneymanGeek whatever makes you feel good..... ;)

@JourneymanGeek Lungo
Lungo (Italian for "long") is a coffee beverage made by using an espresso machine to make an Italian-style coffee – short black (single or double dose or shot) with much more water (generally twice as much), resulting in a larger coffee, a lungo. A normal serving of espresso takes from 18 to 30 seconds to pull, and fills 25 to 60 millilitres, while a lungo may take up to a minute to pull, and might fill 130 to 170 millilitres. Extraction time of the dose is determined by the variety of coffee beans (usually a blend of Arabica and Robusta), their grind and the pressure of the machine. The optimum...

:D

that's a little strange, yes ;p

huh, they do have domain, which is redirecting to the IP. So weird.
Maybe due to the NSFW word which is part of the domain? @Journeyman

Can't think of any other reason.

Singlish is the English-based creole or patois spoken colloquially in Singapore. Although English is the lexifier language, Singlish has its unique slang and syntax, which are more pronounced in informal speech. It is usually a mixture of English, Mandarin, Tamil, Malay, and other local dialects like Hokkien, Cantonese or Teochew. It is used in casual contexts between Singaporeans, but is avoided in formal events when certain Singlish phrases may be considered unedifying. Some of the most popular Singlish terms have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) since 2000, including wah, sabo...

Oh yeah he will!
buh you were right: "TalkingCock.com is currently on an indefinite hiatus, since January 2010"
TalkingCock.com is a Singaporean satirical and humour website. The website features various articles and jokes spoofing Singapore current affairs, which occasionally pokes fun of world happenings. "Talking cock", which describes the act of engaging in idle banter or perhaps more literally "talking nonsense", is a common phrase in Singlish. Started in August 2000 by Colin Goh, a film director, cartoonist and former lawyer, the website provides commentary and pokes fun at local news and issues, in particular political, with much of its content written by anonymous contributors. It has established...
