Oh, you mean listen to commands. LOL silly me!
I saw Manish interact with his bot earlier, so his bot listen only to his own commands?

Are duplicate answers on different questions okay, if they both answer the question and are from the same user or with credits to the original answer?

@3ventic Don't you mean 'duplicate answers on different questions' instead of 'duplicate answers on different answers'?

Yeah

bot is on; somebody say something to test

hi

3:03 PM
got 2 messages

wat

eh?
oh, it probably picked up Doorknob's

got 1 message
ok, bot killed
this is weird; I saw "wat" and "eh" pop up in my console but it didn't sent "got 2 messages"

huh

bot? you here?

3:04 PM
and the "got 2 messages" was also a bug... it's supposed to filter out mine

:whistles:

bot is on; somebody say something to test

@DoorknobofSnow Test

hiya

got 2 messages

3:07 PM
yo yo yo

say more stuff to test more :P

It works!!!

got 2 messages

got 2 messages

got 1 message

3:07 PM
no, 2 messages

hooray! but I need to somehow make it fail to send so I can see why (because now I'm logging the response to the new message POST request)
oh, yay it just failed! :P

@ShadowWizard: the bot filters out the messages of Doorknob

inspecting logs
got 1 message
bot killed

@ProgramFOX yeah I know, was trying to mess with him
bots hate me :D

Someone say something

3:09 PM
I found out that it returns for example {\"id\":1789472,\"time\":1391353649} on success, and {\"id\":null,\"time\":null} when it fails, so I just need to see if it reponds with null and resend with some delay if so

@DoorknobofSnow will I ever gain rep on meta?

@rene :P your rep is just too... perfect

whoa, manish's thing is awesome!

I have 1337 suggested edit reviews :D
@Undo I know, he's amazing :D

3:11 PM
And now I should be thankfull? What is the next magic number to get stuck at?

@rene About 9,990 rep.

@rene 1999

oh, yeah.

sigh

3:12 PM
But 9,990 is horrific.

Saw someone with 1999 for hours, begging for 1 point

heh

yeah, it was cruel

@ShadowWizard he should have made a suggested edit :P

@DoorknobofSnow think he already got 1000 from edits so... :)

3:13 PM
lol

Sometimes just to be nice I go through the part of the SO userlist where all the 9,999'ers are and upvote them

@Undo or the other side, someone can be really evil and downvote all users with 10,001

bot initialized; type "hello" without the quotes to test

hello

recieved hello from ProgramFOX

3:17 PM
"hello" without the quotes

it worked :P yay!
bot initialized; type "hello" without the quotes to test

hello

@rene hello back!

hello forward

hello world

3:21 PM
I have to go eat breakfast now
I'll leave HelloBotâ„¢ 1.0 on
in case anyone wants to play with the most boring bot in history

hello

@rene hello back!

hello
hello

Does it also work with a capitalized Hello?
Let's try
Hello

hello
hello
hello
hello
hello
hello
hello
hello

3:24 PM
Hello

He should ask a question on SO about how to do regex matching

Who?

heh
hello

@Undo hello back!

we should DDoS it!
We'll teach people to never ever leave bots unattended in the Tavern :P
hello

3:26 PM
@Undo hello back!

hello

@Shadow Wizard hello back!

bug #1: should get rid of spaces in display name :)

ha

at least only once per user
hello

3:27 PM
@Shadow Wizard hello back!

oh
hello
hmm...
@ProgramFOX Mr. Doorknob, so that the bot will act on both "hello" and "Hello" and even "heLlo" ;)

HellO

hello

huh
did we bork it?

hello

3:30 PM
Limited to two times per user maybe?
nope, broken

@ShadowWizard No, becuase it replied only once to me.

WHO BROKE THE BOT? :D

hello

@ProgramFOX it replied twice to me

borked.

3:31 PM
bot to bot... cool
Should I bring back my hello bot?

@ShadowWizard The flag in the mSO 10k queue - whatcha think? (cc @DoorknobofSnow)

@Undo check now ;)
that's a typical meta answer

huh.
ok

though it lack unicorns, that's the meta spirit so in Meta it's at least attempt to answer.

3:34 PM
heh

not me!

me! me!
:evil green:

HTTP conflict sounds grave

3:35 PM
okay, now I'm going to finish my bagel :P I turned it back on

hello

hello

bot initialized; type "hello" without the quotes to test

hello

@Shadow Wizard hello back!

3:36 PM
If I write "hello" now, then it just highlights my previous message instead of posting a new one :-(
hello

@ProgramFOX hello back!

@ProgramFOX that's a chat feature, yep
hello

@Shadow Wizard hello back!

hello

@ProgramFOX hello back!

3:36 PM

Q: Can't view vote counts in the 10k queue

UndoI just noticed that in the meta flag queue, I can't view vote counts. Plz fixy?

@ShadowWizard / @DoorknobofSnow can you repro?

@Undo yep, just did. +1

3:40 PM
yay
It didn't used to be like that, right?

@Undo yup, reproduced
@Undo dunno, never tried to view vote count from within the flag queue but I guess it's a long time bug

huh

hello

I wish I had some other sites to try it on.

@DoorknobofSnow bot dead again?

3:41 PM
@ShadowWizard I turned it off :P

ohh poor bot

I'm going to make it eval Ruby code now

AU shows the vote count...

@Braiam In the flag queue?

wait, lemme check in SO

3:42 PM
yeah...

huh. Must be someone borked the staging build everything.

@Braiam But can you click it and have it split apart and show up/down?

SO borked too

huh? nope
weird...

3:44 PM
It's loading in AJAX they simply forgot to attach event

huh

Argh, I hate it when this happens on Space:
Same two questions in both lists ;(

O_O
I bet they have both up and down votes

Q: Vote counts will not display in /Tools

Josh CaswellLooking over flagged questions or answers in the /Tools page, I am occasionally curious about the up- and down-vote counts. Clicking on the vote total, however, does not have its usual effect of displaying the counts -- nothing changes, no matter how many times I click on it.

3:46 PM
aw crap

So it was fixed, then broken again

oh, so not a dupe. yay!

new report is OK in such case
but maybe worth to mention this in the new report :)

No, it's the review
before the queues era

3:49 PM
ah

one ugly tabbed page

ok

Q: "View Vote totals" without 1000 rep

Rob W Screenshot About The vote counts are a great tool to determine whether an answer is disputed or not. Unfortunately, not many of us have enough time to join all Stack Exchange websites and get 1000 reputation. This script unlocks the "View Vote counts" feature for those who are not logge...

This works

quite like the current 10K tools, lol

bot ready. type #{$prefix}{ruby code} to eval that code.

3:49 PM
hello

lol, I mean type >>{ruby code}

>> 1+1
>>1+1

@Undo lol, I got undefined local variable or method `prefix' for main:Object (NameError)

@3ventic yeah but that's not the point ;)

uh oh.

3:50 PM
type, should be $prefix. fixing

@ShadowWizard Correct, but it's a workaround to the vote count issue

>>grant_admin_access

bot ready. type >>{ruby code} to eval that code.

heh

>> 1+1

3:50 PM
>>1+1

>>give_me_codez

lol oops, it's coming to me as >>
I need to unescape special chars first :P

>>1+1

>>puts 'Hello world'

I killed it while fixing

3:52 PM
nooo

nooo

my first Ruby command ever. Now lost.

What is that for software that can't be running while you fix it?

bot ready. type >>{ruby code} to eval that code.

3:53 PM
>> 1+1

>>1+1
no worky

>>puts 'Hello world'

3:54 PM
:(

>> Math.sqrt(9)

>>{puts ':('}

bot ready. type >>{ruby code} to eval that code.
okay, fixed

>>1+1

3:54 PM
>>Math.sqrt(9)

@Undo: 2

yay

>> puts 'hello'

wait, it crashed
:(

>> Math.sqrt(9)

3:55 PM
HTTPConflict

was it the sqrt?

heh

oh, trying to post too quickly crash it?

I think so
I had a rescue but apparently it didn't work

maybe you need a savior? :D

3:56 PM
whoops, I'm supposed to rescue Mechanize::ResponseCodeError not Net::HTTPConflict :P
bot ready. type >>{ruby code} to eval that code.

>>Net::HTTP.get('example.com', '/index.html')

@rene: Error in eval: Insecure operation - initialize

>>1+1

@Undo: 2

>> puts 'Hello'

3:57 PM
@ProgramFOX: Error in eval: Insecure operation `write' at level 4

>>Math.sqrt(12387)

@Undo: 111.29690022637648

>>Math.sqrt(9)

@Shadow Wizard: 3.0

useless

3:57 PM
>>puts 'hello world'

@Shadow Wizard: Error in eval: Insecure operation `write' at level 4

@DoorknobofSnow: Would you believe me if I say that I'm able to let your bot crash in less than one minute?

@ProgramFOX nope :D try

>>a = 3 ** 2

3:58 PM
@Shadow Wizard: 9

>>while 1==1 do {}

@Undo: Error in eval: (eval):1: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting keyword_end
while 1==1 do {}
^

me doesn't know Ruby very well ;(

try loop{}, that's an infinite loop @Undo

>>a = 3 ** 2
b = 4 ** 2
Math.sqrt(a+b)

3:59 PM
loop{}

with the >> :P

>> loop{}

>>loop{}

>>agent.get('http://google.com/')

now do a command, it should rescue the bot, like >>1+1

3:59 PM
>>Math.sqrt(a+b)

>>1+1

okay, never mind...
lol

dead by an endless loop?

whoahhaoahaahhah

it shouldn't have died... my IRC bot could escape from infinite loops

4:01 PM
@DoorknobofSnow maybe it got too bored then

brb, I'll fix the bot when I'm back :P

we'll miss you, bot!

>>Mechanize.new.get('http://google.com/')

>>format('C:')

ha

4:02 PM
hope he is on linux

maybe it worked, if @DoorknobofSnow will never return we know why :P

ha
@DoorknobofSnow are you there? If you can't hear us we're really sorry :P

dinner...
cya

cya

4:03 PM
cya

@Shadow @Undo No, the bot was dead anyway :-P right now I'm in a car going to a boy scout thing
It wouldn't have worked because of security error if the bot was on :-P

gtg, cya folks!

Cya @Undo
When I get back home I'll fix the infinite loop crashing :-P
I think I have a pretty good idea of why it crashes
Anyway bye

Q: Why do we need the removing-whitespace tag?

Man of SnowIf you look at the questions in removing-whitespace, most of them also have the whitespace tag. Also, we have the symbols tag, but that doesn't mean we should have a removing-symbols tag. I mean, if this made sense, we might as well also have the adding-whitespace tag, too. I think the removin...

Recurring numbers ftw

4:18 PM
:P

@3ventic Fixed! :D

Awww

Time to go home, bye!

See you later!

Things get upvoted more when you don't put emotion into them :P
Not sure if this is a bug, but it shows my rep different at the bottom than at the top

4:22 PM
Try refreshing the page.
The rep at the top updates itself, but the rep at the bottom doesn't.

Yeah :P
I got Charcoal to bring up the question bodies and all, nothing big

4:42 PM
Hooray :P

5:19 PM
I have a userscript on that activates Zirak's bot
When I visit this page

@ManofSnow ?
oh

:P
You do stuff like !!eval Javascriptcode

5:45 PM
@Bart The edits! :(

?

@mikeng Please don't go on a single-word fixing spree. Fixing that one word is fine, but give the whole post a once over and fix all issues. In plenty of your suggested edits, there is more than enough that should still be fixed. — Bart 1 min ago

Thank you. :P It's nice to click edit and uncheck helpful, but people review too quickly...

The sad thing is, all the of the ones I rejected were accepted
People just go "well, it fixed something"

5:48 PM
Now you know how I feel...
Reviewers are lazy apparently.

Ha, I've been at this game for a while. At some point it made me completely unwilling to review

Go close stuff, then. :P

Ok, @Bart. Point taken. I'll try to look over the whole post in the future. — mikeng 1 min ago

I'm suprised at how many people if you actually post a comment to them will respond nicely and not suggest very minor edits.

They are generally not the problem. They just see something wrong, notice there's a lot of those issues, and fix them. Great. It's the reviewer's job to actually tell them "Hey thanks, but make sure to check everything. Here's why..."
I have no problem with the editors in such cases

5:54 PM
Mm.. I think it's a two-fold problem though. We have these users who suggest the edits, and never get told it's right or wrong. It's the reviewers fault of that, however, it's kinda the system's fault, though... I don't know.

The first google result is something about masturbation in Spanish ...
