I think it's either Marc's or waffles' or <insert other scapegoat here>'s fault

I'm still working on:

@TimStone The Wheel of Blame is that way, sir

2 mins ago, by Rebecca Chernoff
what are we talking about? >_<

21 mins ago, by Tim Stone
StackExchange.editor.initIfShown(d) { } now has an additional check for d.postfix, but it's called from the profile edit page with no parameter.
RE: this
Someone's mucking about with wmd, maybe for the upcoming inline editing that Jeff mentioned?

indeed (:

3:02 PM
@YiJiang That needs to be welded to the sidebar. Forget this pinning nonsense.

5 mins ago, by Tim Stone
Oh look, just who we wanted to blame!
oooooh, gimme the link again!!!

talking about blaming me is never appropriate (:

I know where to weld it at!!!

@TimStone Or ya know... someone should just say "@RebeccaChernoff is always to blame" and pin it

@YiJiang no no no, I need the link
that is not the link

3:04 PM

room topic changed to Tavern on the Meta: testing doesn't work does it?

@RebeccaChernoff I strive to put correctness first, appropriateness second ;)

really? animated gif? ):

It works in the auto-message, but not the actual thingadongdong? -1 chat.

@RebeccaChernoff Well... considering it was your boss who created it...

3:05 PM
room topic changed to Tavern on the Meta: For your ease of use: bit.ly/pYtBLT

@RebeccaChernoff Blame Mrozek

@TimStone right? Sounds like we need to ping @balpha on that one

(At least I think it was him)

No need
There's already a feature request, I think.

room topic changed to Tavern on the Meta: Welded on for your ease of use: bit.ly/pYtBLT
ok I'll quit playing with that now
> You cannot delete this audit message
but it's in my name ...
odd

Q: Chat room link can't be renamed

M'vyWe tried to link the http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/29480/french-language-usage proposal in the corresponding chat room topic using the traditional : [French Language and Usage](http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/29480/french-language-usage) But it does not work. Could we hav...

I just meant the display inconsistency

Oh I'm feature :D

EVERYBODY UPVOTE!!!!

Well, the inconsistency follows from the design, so :P

So on another note ... if anyone followed my discussions last night about the mockup thing for my social group ... printouts turned out nice with the lighter lines ... should be good for discussions tonight :D

3:09 PM
the link button seems to be working ok for me.

I think I was asleep somehow. But I'll assume it was interesting and go "Hooray!" ayour success.
@RebeccaChernoff The bug is browsers-that-don't-set-a-global-event-object-specific, so you won't repro in Chrome.
Presumably event should just be renamed to whatever the unminified parameter for that function is.

So it seems I'm not going to see languages.SE before I start my erasmus after all

@TimStone ...so it isn't a bug then? q:

@RebeccaChernoff It is a bug, someone named the variable incorrectly.
It just happens to work in some browsers because of IE-behaviour.

I was being sarcastic that if it isn't a problem with Chrome...

3:13 PM
@RebeccaChernoff Well see here, I have this giant Firefox...

@RebeccaChernoff Oh. :p

@YiJiang Oh dear, that's horrible.

I'm normally more than polite dealing with businesses, but I just had to be rude to this Codero 'Account Representative'... I told him he could be replaced by a bot.

I may need more caffeine. Or less caffeine.

@Fosco Bah. The correct sentence is "a very small shell script"

3:15 PM
Nice :)

@badpssockpuppet ... with which I'm itching to smash a head or two in

I think that counts as animal abuse.

so on a more serious note, I haven't had caffeine yet, so which variable name is incorrect?

Indeed. calls the WWF

@TimStone Don't blame me, blame Mozilla who set them on fire

function (f) {
    if (!event.ctrlKey && !event.metaKey) {
        d($(this), e.showCitation);
        return false;
    }
}
event should match f (whatever f really is)

I think it's more likely the code minifier has a bug

That's possible too, but it does seem to work fine elsewhere, I assume. Or they just don't call the variables event anywhere else.

@badpssockpuppet I just tweeted about it, mentioning the company... i wonder if i'll hear from them...

(That's a handler bound in StackExchange.question.init by the way)

Hello

'Ello

Tyler!

Playing a little TF2 before work

Don't change the room description ;)
We needed it to be "welded on" since pinning leaves things to fall by the wayside

Is it ever my fault?
If not I blame ... eh.. wait for it.... @waffles!

Not that I know of
You could always investigate the source
Note the time this article was published http://bit.ly/qIF1uU Does @HoustonChron have a sense of humor?

4:12 PM
Ok, I need help figuring something out ... who wants to help me rubberduck some javascript?
[ [Date.UTC(yy,mm,dd,hh,mm,ss),Value], [Date.UTC(yy,mm,dd,hh,mm,ss),Value] ] is a valid array, right? Now, how do I write this as C# or Java code?
I like asking in the javascript room but apparently I'm on room-mute over there :p
Also, I'm not sure how to write that for a proper Stack Overflow Q

Can you elaborate a bit? I might be slow this morning, but I'm not sure what you're getting at.

[ [Date.UTC(yy,mm,dd,hh,mm,ss),Value], [Date.UTC(yy,mm,dd,hh,mm,ss),Value] ] is a valid JSON array, right?
that's #1
ignore that I don't have actual numbers in place of all the placeholders, they make it harder to work with
#2 is how to write that JSON array as a C#/Java array
(because really C# and Java are close enough I can figure it out from the other)
#3 is if I can't figure it out here, how do I write the Q properly for a SO Q. I'm too close to the problem.
Hence the plea for rubberducking help

Date.UTC()... why would that be valid in JSON... you mean the output?.. is it output as a string?

The Date.UTC() bit isn't valid JSON, is it?

@Fosco eventually yes

4:18 PM
Can you just use a Dictionary<string,string> ? (C#)

I think I need to use a string[][2] or something

var jcole = new Dictionary<string,string>();
jcole.add("7/7/2011 12:19:00.000","wow");

String[][] stuff = new String[][] {
    { someDate, someValue },
    { someDate, someValue }
};
..? :P

or that... could use the same syntax to set up the dictionary values in the new statement too.

Yeah, I think that's what I'm gonna have to do ... lemme just go write some code and totally bastardize what I was doing before :\
and now I have to leave ... well, the code will hold till I get back, I hope

void Main() {
	var dates = new Dictionary<DateTime, string>() {
		{ new DateTime(2011, 7, 7, 11, 17, 23), "Thursday 11:17am" },
		{ new DateTime(2011, 7, 6, 15, 48, 32), "Wednesday 3:48pm" }
	};
	var x = new JavaScriptSerializer().Serialize(dates.Select(d=>new [] { d.Key.ToString("yy,mm,dd,hh,mm,ss"), d.Value }));
	x.Dump();
}
(the .Dump() is LINQPad)... outputs [["11,17,07,11,17,23","Thursday 11:17am"],["11,48,06,03,48,32","Wednesday 3:48pm"]]

nicely done Ms. Chernoff (:

also, if you don't use LINQPad...you should. (; so damn handy
I just randomly went with a Dictionary...a list of Tuples or a custom object or whatever would work, concept is the same.

"Tired of querying in antiquated SQL?"... No, actually I am not tired of it.. at all.

oh, and just in case: @jcolebrand, read ^^^ (:

4:34 PM
Bah, I guess I have to do what regular people do: Work....

> And LINQPad is more than a LINQ tool: it's an ergonomic C#/VB/F# scratchpad that instantly executes any expression, statement block or program with rich output formatting – the ultimate in dynamic development. Put an end to those hundreds of Visual Studio Console projects cluttering your source folder!

I'm downloading it anyway, just had to comment on that main headline on the site...
Linq is the solution without a problem, imho, and I know I'm almost alone on that one.

the Dump extension function is pretty damn handy. Just toss it any object like a list and it'll do a pretty print of its properties

Does it have a feature that makes me lunch?

nope, that'd be your kitchen.

4:43 PM
Ah. Well, they should set up some web service calls to integrate the two.

5:06 PM
6 deleted answers.. wow never seen that many.. stackoverflow.com/questions/6614127/…

@Fosco perhaps it would be wise to request a protect then?
I usually protect without thinking about it at the third comment as answer

@badpssockpuppet hmm? I am not sure what you mean by protect.
I think they all just answered within 2 minutes and then deleted themselves because they were all the same.

@Fosco um, 10 reputation required to answer?

ah.. everyone that deleted has between 300 and 31,000.

5:25 PM
Ok, got my rails thing all working and then...
I only blew 3 days and 90 bucks on this. <sarcasm>No biggie. Anytime.</sarcasm>

Welcome to the real world. :)
90 bucks for a good lesson, that's not so bad... last one cost me $1,100.

Wow. What happened?

1 hour later…
6:36 PM
Oh... badly written contract. feature X which was absolutely not included, became "we want feature X" even though I was DONE. So I never got the completion fee, because I refused to do feature X, though I did everything else and more.

Hello

7:10 PM
Hi
I have to say, as awesome as SE chat is, Google+ Hangouts are incredible.
And, they don't complain when I talk about a certain country/game that starts with an "N" and ends with an "ippon".
@Fosco Ouch.

I'm waiting for my invite to work..

@Moshe That happened here?

@Moshe !!!!!

@Chacha102 ?

@Moshe You mentioned the N word...

7:19 PM
Oh
yea

hum the mobile chat seems broken.

7:39 PM
Wow.
Hangout.
Nuff said.

Paging @RebeccaChernoff, we need a code check in aisle 97794, code check in aisle 97794.

Would it be possible to check if deleted answers impact Enlightened? Grace Note thinks no, and I agreed, until I saw this case which suggests that they do.
Although if the potentially deleted answer on this question doesn't exist or wasn't first it doesn't matter much I guess. :p
Oh
Actually I'm just an idiot
The question still stands, but the reason I had doubts doesn't actually suggest anything.

8:15 PM
will try to remember later, can't right now

It's not that important now that I realized there wasn't any reason to suspect otherwise anyway, sorry about that.
Oh, and Nick commented on the relevant Meta question, even better.

8:40 PM
@jcolebrand Your invite won't work. It keeps saying 'exceeded' :P

@Chacha102 seems to be the problem for many users today

@Mvy But I'm so much better than all the other users...

As pple in the DMZ was trying too and no sucess
@Chacha102 Well you're right, your modesty is a model to the world :D

@Mvy See .. I knew someone would understand...

@Chacha102 I knew that
@RebeccaChernoff Merci mon cheri, you saved me a bit of figuring.
@RebeccaChernoff is the dictionary inorder as of insert order or should I choose a different format if insert order is important?

8:57 PM
I leave that to you to research your data structures (:

lmao
ok thanks
but anyways, yes yes, thank you for the assist. Mucho appreciado

9:18 PM
@jcolebrand Well since Rebecca is a girl, you should say : "merci ma chérie".

@Mvy except a) I don't speaka da frensh, and b) she's not really ma cherie ... ;)
So aside from all that :S you're probably right

Good ol' Ma Cherry

was just for the records. Anyone can learn :D

9:49 PM
Boss just came in my office: "I've forgotten so much of what we have to type ourselves in visual studio, does ReSharper really do that much heavy lifting for us?" (talking about the intellisense etc)

So @jcolebrand, what were the results of your data structure research? (:

still meagerly writing code ... in amongst about six discussions >.>
plus I have to put that datastructure in the middle of some data structures ...
so I'm writing the parts to do all the other work, and I'm just gonna co-opt what you gave and see how it does ...

10:05 PM
Hi all, I just saw something strange

shoot

I now have a flag weight of 518.3176!

Yep

Is there any explanation for the decimal points?

What's the strange part?
Yes, there is, and a lot of it, on meta

10:07 PM
Ok I will go search, but that is the first time valid was not worth 10

Q: Unnecessary precision displayed for flag weight

Shaggy FrogI currently have a flag weight of 531.7108. Is it just me, or are the 4 digits of precision after the decimal point just a tad unnecessary? Borderline bug I think.

181
Q: What is flag weight?

CoolBeansFlag weight can be viewed in user profiles. What is flag weight? Who can view my flag weight? When can I view my own flag weight? What are the possible values of flag weight? Why is my flag weight not an integer? What are the benefits of a high flag weight? Return to FAQ index

Those two should be the canonical
Let me know if that doesn't answer it for you

Ok, as designed, got it!

Learned about Mortgage backend securities
yay!

Yatta!

10:37 PM
@RebeccaChernoff the results were that actionresults want to compound the injuries when it comes to passing my data down to the page

Dehydrating. Summer heat. Ugh.

10:56 PM
@jcolebrand lol what?
