does anyone find any real utility with chat.SO?

I'd love to have a conversation about, say, OSGi, but getting everyone in the room seems kind of difficult for topics like this

Generally speaking I don't care how something makes a product better in the long run, its more about what is the better product based on experts opinions. I don't have the time to learn all the little bits and details that make it better. In the case of my linked question I know what I am looking for but can't find a product on my own so was asking for experts to point me in the right direction.

The only way SE will ever get a site about shopping is if it's about the strategy, tactics, and operational aspects of the act of shopping; but never it's direct implementation as a product comparison.

After that, SimTower was always fun but needed a reboot, and SC2k was great, I didn't care for SC3k, and I forget the later versions, but wasn't really impressed. The transition from SC to SC2k was incredible tho. I loved SC2k.

So as an example, sometimes I tag tomcat6 and sometimes tomcat. For the tomcat6 tags, I also mean tomcat so in a sense I mean both. Should I tag a question both tomcat6 and tomcat, or just choose 1.

This can work with Python and a host of other things

Generally, always use the "generic" tag. People are more likely to have those favorited, so they'll be more likely to view your questions. If the issue really is version-specific, then use the specific one as well.
