The problem I see is that even after following the instructions on that page, there still exists no way I could log in. The ghetto button thingy works, but I don't want to go looking for it every time this happens (which it does, fairly frequently)
I've logged into chat.stackexchange.com several before and been able to chat, so I'm sure my account is signed up there, however I can't login there now. Whenever I go to:

Every Stack Exchange site starts with a Q&A site, made up of three pieces that help bring the whole community together:
But wait, there’s more?
A couple months ago, the Super User community took it upon themselves to create a blog run by the community. This effort has been so successful that a couple other communities floated the idea amongst themselves. Internally, we recognized this as an opportunity many of our communities might be interested in and brought the operation in-house.
We are happy to announce that with Blog Overflow, Stack Exchange communities are able to run a community …

@tombull89 Have you read the version before I, eh, cleaned it up?

But in reality I think that they have some flashing dot that indicates a direction to turn and they want the map to turn with the person (so that "up" is always the direction the person is moving).
What are the common phrases, words, abbreviations that are used on Stack Overflow, Server Fault, Super User, and Meta Stack Overflow?
This is meant to be a very quick overview, not an in-depth tutorial. When considering whether a term ought to be included, please use this test:

@Sathya thank you! The immigration stuff is an extra challenge, but I'm optimistic it will work out sooner or later. Still, thumb-holding is always welcome! :)
As a private company, we do not share financial information. However, we have publicly announced that we raised $18 million from investors. The intention is to use that money to make Stack Exchange great.
The intention is to use that money to make SE great...but we got distracted and spent it on Unicorns, rainbows, JD, and Hookers.
don't you just hate when you don't try something because you're just certain it won't work, and then when you do try it it does work, and you wasted 30 minutes trying to find a workaround?
@Fosco and it works on all the chatservers just for having it installed, if like us you have multiple open
Sheetz, Inc. is a chain of gas stations/convenience stores owned by the Sheetz family. Stores are located in Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Sheetz has long employed the "Z" that the name ends with in various marketing efforts. These include Sheetz' re-loadable gift card- The "Z" card, the Sheetz breakfast sandwich – known and marketed as "Shmuffinz," and their "Nachoz."
History
Sheetz, Inc was founded by Bob Sheetz in 1952 when he purchased one of his father's five dairy stores located in Altoona, Pennsylvania. In 1961, Bob hired h...
@jcolebrand Say I have two "registers" (iPads) and one adds an account, for example, I need to sync to the other device to maintain consistency across the system. Or, imagine someone buys something. I want their account updated across all systems.
@Fosco Hrm, where would that go though? Camps need to be offline, in the mountains, or wherever, there's no internet connection, often.
@Fosco And security becomes an issue. Helllloooo LulzSec (Well, given my long history of top-notch education in iOS and Web security best practice. Heck, I invented SSL. - Wait, maybe that's not a good thing.) :P
@Moshe Hmm... I don't know how you would expect to do it at all with out some form of network.. the database could be local but still on wifi without internet..
WebServices to put it all in the cloud and every action is AJAX/REST at the time of the transaction
You don't do that.
@Moshe see, good job. Self promotion is not a bad thing
I did that last night and went to the local Chamber of Commerce mixer and met like four new businesses in the area also doing tech development that I didn't know about.
the idea is every record gets a guid in addition to everything else
the tricky part is if two sites enter the same information for the same entity before synchronization, that drives a lot of people mad for the duplication.
> While each generated GUID is not guaranteed to be unique, the total number of unique keys (2^128 or 3.4×10^38) is so large that the probability of the same number being generated twice is very small. For example, consider the observable universe, which contains about 5×10^22 stars; every star could then have 6.8×10^15 universally unique GUIDs.
But say my accounts are not allowed to have a negative balance? Simply syncing the devices wouldn't work, because adding up the transactions might cause a negative balance.
@Fosco, @jcolebrand Thanks. I think for camps I'm going to stick to one device then, for now.
If multiple devices becomes an issue, I can add the server later. (Adding a GUID to my data model isn't hard - wait, shouldn't I already be using those?)
@Fosco Core Data uses objects, not rows, so there's no actual primary keys, but I'm feigning it with a method that just grabs the last one and increments.
With the offline transactional model you would have to either go back to the store where you bought it (in your case register) or wait till tomorrow (or the next sync.
I have to start thinking about a job. Starting school after the summer, would be nice to do something when I'm not at school/homework. I just don't think that there are too many part time internships available.
Heh, younger sibling just asked "Mo, How come your not playing Portal?"
Well, that means I haven't been getting enough done lately, time to work.
