yeah, that's something I wish I could swing (res), but I have a feeling there's a reason they sent me a newegg link and I'm not gonna go dealbusting all around the net. They didn't seem to have too many at that res (or I missed it) just 2560x and those are $$$ monitors. So Ill be happy with my 1920 (well better than the 1440 I've got now on my left)
I want to improve my programming skills, and I believe that games programming is the best approach for improving my programming skills.
can you please guide me to getting started with some very basic/little games(with source code of course) like tic tac toe etc and then to some hi-fi games like...
I swear, I am so absent minded lately. I know I checked that code in like an hour ago, then even said something here about moving it to my laptop for testing...and then forgot that I was doing that.
oh joy. the admin brought me a third monitor to try and alleviate my interim woes, so now I have a 17" 4:3 a 19" 4:3 and a 19" WS on my desk. And I'll be replacing the 19" with my 23" in a few days. Woot.
I'm surprised that people are surprised that Oracle doesn't play nice with others. I'm also surprised that they think that a lot would be lost if the JCP dissolved.
I can write what I need to write in Java using Java as it is right now, so I'm not all that concerned, heh.
@TimStone Note to self: Document the project design next time so that when people ask questions, there are shiny diagrams to show them to distract them while I fix it and look like a hero (if easy) or escape (all other cases).
If: A) I was as cocky as I was a few years ago; B) There was no doubt that people would (i)Upvote and it would (ii) end in acceptance .... id so put myself up :P
Though Q1M basically destroys my ever being nominated lol
@PopularDemand one of my friends just had a similar thought: If giving a presentation you're unprepared for, bring good food and booze, so even though the presentation is unpolished the audience will be well fed and liquored up

Jo...
Maybe they should go in a different direction after 20k. 20k users have the option to voluntarily reduce their own reps by 20k in exchange for a one-hour phone call with Jeff or Joel; users may turn in 30k rep to be a guest on the podcast, pending its return; turn in 40k rep for the SO office package (logo polo shirt, logo coffee mug, 25 stickers); 50k rep and you get a day-long visit to SOIS headquarters including lunch with the team....
@rchern Oh, me personally? I'd subtly turn them against Michael Mrozek. I'd go after you too, but it's my understanding that you're already in good with the fine folks at HQ. The ones who control beta passwords, at any rate.
Feature Request: Time Handicaps on Rep ... Skeet and co obviously have nothing better to do than earn rep, but some of us don't have the luxury. Therefore, weighted rep earnings.
@PopularDemand True story, but fight is certainly an exaggeration. I got pulled aside for bag screening coming back from the Netherlands. The guy who checked my bag was kind of rude, but that was no big deal; he marked my customs card and I went over to the station where they take them.
my favorite part about St. Louis was going to the science museum and screwing with the people with radar detectors that drove under the overpass between the two parts of the museam
Then another group came from the bag screening and the lady handling the line I was in attended to them. I got angry she ignored me the first time, and I went over there too. She yelled at me to get back in line, I refused. She yelled at me again, I yelled back that the officer had already cleared my card and that I didn't have time for this. Then I stared her down and she got pissy, snatched my card, and let me go.
I thought that I had done something, but someone changed the test fixture code to swap out the severity (which we planned on dropping) for the record number.
