11:00 PM
heh

This is the world we live in, and these are the hands we're given, use them and let's start trying to make it a world worth living in...

..er right, right. ..But we don't mind, because we enjoy her conversation? (is this a good enough save @TheUnhandledException?)

@TimStone Absolutely! :-)

<< harmless. Really. |:

Land of Confusion?

11:02 PM
@TimStone Yes. I like Genesis... actually listening to the Disturbed version now, but I like the original too. I grew up on those guys :-)
@rchern Awww, don't be sad! You know we all love you

I actually have the one you're listening to, heh. ;)

There. I didn't mean the way it came out the first time @rchern I swear!!! (-:

"Turn that straight line upside down!"

lol

wait how do you say :-D? I am not sure what the opposite of D is?

11:04 PM
@rchern I do believe that you won't ninja your way into my house to sabotage my garbage disposal, if it makes you feel better. ;)

LOL
@TimStone You think that I would repeat myself?

Yeah, D: is a whole separate emotion.
As is D:<
@rchern Of course not, creativity is key.

@TheUnhandledException's garbage disposal. @PopularDemand's lights.

@TimStone That was the face I was making when my disposal puked all over my clean dishes!!!

Ugh, I bet. That's really foul, I'm sorry you had to experience that.

11:05 PM
Ɑ:
2

:D

heh, truth be told it's my fault, combination of landlord's cheap-ass disposal combined with my stupidity of thinking it could handle 4 leaves of iceburg lettuce
It's happened like 3 times before, i should know better by now!

Ah, whoops. :P

@TimStone that's what I said!

@rchern I was just reaffirming!

11:09 PM
mm

Hm...What to do about these test cases.

so pluto might be a planet after all?

Say whaaa?

lol what?

11:12 PM
I had to derail the thread ;)

hahaha

I'm practicing you see

Hi all. Abandon all hope ye who enter here:
> We have been using the IncrediMail addon with Outlook XP. We are inabled to
send outstanding emails with wonderful backgrounds (some of them with moving
partss), and Emoticons.

Hahah

oh $DEITY

Why would you use backgrounds in business email at all?

the only response to that article is a resounding "oy" @TimStone
that was not the right number of tabs

I seriously cussed someone out for doing that once, I couldn't read the effing email till I did a ctrl-c/v

@rchern I saw a whole discussion earlier regarding "oy" and how you should be edited into Wikipedia or something, LOL

While searching for a way to "temporarily disable" Incredimail for a friend to whom I suggested that it wasn't very professional...

11:16 PM
@rchern Hahah, why? :P

@drachenstern I wrote myself a gm for gmail, but that doesn't work in outlook ;)

a gm?

greasemonkey

oh, ok
yeah, so after I did that (actually I didn't cuss them directly, I sic'd a coworker of THEIRS onto them, this was cross-company, from a support vendor of ours) then I got a nice apology email from my twin at the other company
I am SO glad I no longer work for that particular employer

Hahah

11:20 PM
@rchern is this bad UTF or an intentional box?

Bad UTF for you, it seems.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. We are setting up a site for a new customer, and on their home page they have a little bird with a speech bubble which gives a random "Green Tip", green as in Eco-friendly. We have a CMS where the client can edit these tips. I just showed my boss and to test it he put in as a green tip: "Green Tip: Josh is compostable"

It's a capital Latin letter alpha

Actually he used his own name, lol

11:21 PM
Oh
cough

@rchern thanks

Heya.

'Ello

Hello @MichaelMyers
@TheUnhandledException - Get your todo list out of the way?

@AidenBell Sadly, no
I have about 3.5 hours of work remaining
And, it was actually yesterday's list. So I'll be working almost all weekend

11:27 PM
@AidenBell wait, you can get done with one before it bleeds into a continuous list?

But it's happy hour now so I'm not thinking about that @Aiden!!!

w00t!
Par-tay.

so thar's my desk from earlier, cos I just KNOW you all wanted to see it with my three offsized monitors :P

hehe

it's funny cos the window doesn't feel that bright at my desk
also, notice the +1 sodium on my desk (aka lunch) cos I'm classy like that when I take pictures, oh yeah

11:38 PM
Random, but is that desk black or just a dark wood?

just dark wood

Also, WTF Eclipse? "Type mismatch: cannot convert from Object&Comparable<?>&Serializable to String"

the sunlight detracts from seeing it clearly
does the & denote something I'm not familiar with on the syntax there?

It means that it's an Object and also implements those interfaces.

11:40 PM
The line is recordNo = message.getSeverity() != null ? message.getSeverity() : ""; where recordNo is a String and .getSeverity() is a String and there's an identical line right above this one.

interesting. Sounds like the compiler hit a kink
ok you lovely people, it's beer thirty and I hear a greasy pizza calling my name.

Ah, except it isn't, this is a Tim fail. :P

and unlike some members of the chat, home is not ten seconds away

;)

;)
altho, after December 4 it will be five minutes away :D
ciao

11:41 PM
later @drachenstern!

Nice. Enjoy your food. :)

@drachenstern I love working from home :-)
er stupid chat scrolling up ;-)

I have a 15 minute drive to work.

I appreciate your love of working at home too, it's OK :P

@rchern Not too bad
@TimStone LOL. I just watched the entirety of the ruby users are cool, sooo great :-)

11:43 PM
Working from home is great some of the time. Full time would definitely be an adjustment.

I get a bit bored staying at the house too much, and unfortunately there aren't often opportunities to get out too often around here.
@TheUnhandledException Heheh ;)
"He said, and I quote, "Ruby is what the cool kids are using." I kid you not, you can't make this shit up."

hahahahaha
"They come to work with groupies! Groupies! How the hell does a programmer get groupies?"

Ah, with that change, 120 right, 8 wrong, 0 ignored, and 0 exceptions. Much better. :)

Heheh

11:45 PM
@TimStone Yeah, I mean, my house is good and all, but...

Now you may have your beer @Tim :-)

@rchern The lack of social interaction is kind of depressing after a while, honestly.
@TheUnhandledException Awesome! :) I'll buy everyone a round of shots later. :P

@TimStone hmm

Not that I don't interact with people, but I can easily accidentally avoid doing so, heh.
Over time we'll be working from the office more, so that might not be so bad. It's a bit of a drive for me though, so have to find the balance, heh.

Yeah working from home is not without challenges

11:50 PM
Hm, it seems that I use an excessive amount of hehs.

@TimStone I use an excessive amount of "lol"s :-)

I've been thinking about working from home lately.

We're just tremendously funny people. ;)

@rchern I find what helps is to have a home office. Make that the place where you work from home, and try to use it mostly for work. That way when you're there you're in "work mode"

@rchern It's really nice, but I think it's important to have the option of going in sometimes. Both for reasons of sanity and productivity. :)
At least in the sense that some of the people who I work with are able to communicate with me better if I'm there in person.

11:52 PM
Makes it easier to concentrate

Partially because I'm not distracted by anything, but also too that I can see what they're doing more clearly.

(:
Yeah, easier to get stuff done without distractions. Distractions can be good though too.

Distractions? What are those?

Coworker stopping by your cube (;

Heheh
Hm, it seems I'm going to have to write a userstyle to correct these SF/SO/MSO inconsistencies.

11:58 PM
?

If you open them up in three separate tabs and move between them, there are tiny positioning differences in each one.
