@bjb568 Do you really think it'd make a difference?
If people were talking in here, those reports would be a heck of a lot farther apart.
Recently, we've been peaking at ~15/hr (with a few outliers). That's one every four minutes, which is nothing if people are talking
Also, those peaks are during downtime anyway.
See how that peak fits right into the gap in people's talking here?
That's because that's when spam shows up. When people aren't generally watching
Outside of that peak, we're talking more like 7-10 an hour. One every 6-10 minutes.

So what if it isn't absolutely frequent? This isn't a very active room. When a bot is 3rd most active, and a times makes a mountain of a monologue of many dozens of messages, it's too loud.

The Tavern is dying. It was dying before Smokey was a thing. A few regulars have left, the rest have become moderators and gone to TL.

If other people aren't talking, I don't want the bot talking at all, not just at 1 per {small number} minutes.

why?

@Undo invite me to TL then…

12:07 AM
Yeah, that's not going to happen
2

@Doorknob chat isn't a review queue. It's the same reason why nobody wants me to spam the room with crap.

Here's the deal: We can turn it off here. I suspect you'll be begging for it back in a few weeks when the room is even more deader.

Meh, rather no content than crap content. Quality > quantity and such…

@JasonC @InfiniteRecursion as room owners, you're probably interested in this.

I don't see Smokey interrupting your argument @bjb568, so I don't see how its a problem.

I do agree that smokey gets noisy at times but the easy solution is to just ignore it if you don't like it. Since everybody in here has the means to do that I therefore do not care. @bjb

[ SmokeDetector ] Pattern-matching website in answer: Is there a way to recover a word document password? by Perterjeous on apple.stackexchange.com

@Quill What's the query?

just finds questions tagged jquery without tag javascript or tag coffeescript
you could also do one for finding $( question bodies without jQuery

Since I know little to nothing about jQuery, indulge this question please: Does it really require the javascript tag too? It's got over 1M questions already. Does adding "javascript" actually improve anything?

Well, jQuery is a library, you need the language tag too
That's just stupid to post without it, and anyway, I'm not spamming SO with edits (not even editing on SO), so it shouldn't bother anyone

Not necessarily. If the question is entirely about jQuery and the underlying javascript isn't important

3:17 AM
I don't post mysqli without PHP

Ok.

In the same sense I don't post Scrapy without Python. In my mind, one goes with the other

My question, though, does adding "javascript" - a tag with 1M questions - actually add anything?

Maybe not on SO, but on a different, smaller site, yes

Fair enough

3:20 AM
on a site where there's 4k JS questions versus 1m, I'd say so
some tags don't even have 100 questions

@Undo I agree with @bjb568, Smokey posts should be moved to a different room. This room has become like a review queue nowadays (full of stuff that needs attention). An empty room is better than a room full of reports. Personally, I stopped chatting here because of the reasons bjb mentioned, but if the active members of this room want Smokey in here, it is upto them. 15 reports + 15 tpu's = 30 Smokey stuff an hour is boring.
@balpha Can you please revise if Smokey should remain here or move to a different room? I think you are the right person because you gave Smokey the privs to post reports in this room. Thanks.

@balpha I disagree with @Inf so it's 1 to 1. It's all up to you now. No pressure.
We should give smokey a coin flip command then use it to decide his own fate.
@inf You know, maybe a compromise could be to disable smokey commands in here. That way users can mute him if they'd like, we still get to see the reports, and the room won't get the tpu's and other commands. Then muting smokey would give the desired effect and is optional.

Because with Stack Overflow, two, not just one of the triage options should be crap.
