[ SmokeDetector ] All-caps title: RANDOM MOVEMENT OF MULTIPLE OBJECTS IN JAVA by CoderpandaG on stackoverflow.com
An idea for a bot: detect snippets containing syntax other than HTML/CSS/JS, and comment pointing out the fact...
What's a regex that matches these three and not other languages?
@NormalHuman Rather some... JS files. ;P (@josilber)
(hey, when the URL stays the same...)
12:48 AM
@hichris123 Nice =)
@NormalHuman It would probably be easier to use Bayesian filtering. Reliably distinguishing JavaScript from Java / C# / etc. will be somewhat tricky, but with a big enough training corpus (and we've got one -- it's called SO) it should be doable.
Or, you know, you could just look at the tags.
1:03 AM
Is it just me, or @Undo's primary tracker doesn't have Red Line of Doom anymore?
It's not just you.
It’s not just me, And it’s not just you. This is all around the world...
1:14 AM
I spent way too much time at IAH during my years in Texas...
Last time I remember the snow's falling on Winter Bash website. Or is it not the time yet..
@NormalHuman No bot, but here's a SEDE query at least: data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/395429/…
That was fun to write, been a while since I last needed to use a join on a join. :)
Nice. ajax and jqgrid should also be okay.
@IlmariKaronen Oooooh. I've never seen that technique. Looks useful if I can figure out the semantics.
1:21 AM
@JonEricson It's basically a trick to do a not exists query without using dependent subqueries: you do a left join and then check if the joined columns are null.
Winterbash in December is discrimination against people in southern Hemisphere 😭
Works for exists too, but then you usually have to do a group by.
Honestly, I've no idea how much difference it makes in T-SQL, but it's really handy on e.g. MySQL.
@IlmariKaronen Very cool. I'll try to remember that.
@IlmariKaronen Maybe include the view count (of parent post), and sort by it? Higher priority...
[ SmokeDetector ] Few unique characters in answer: What do those abbreviations mean in League of Legends? by fuk on gaming.stackexchange.com
1:26 AM
> Before signing off, I apologize to our Southern Hemisphere friends for the name. I wanted to go with something season-neutral like HAT ATTACK or December Fling, but tradition ruled the day. Just remember: while you are sipping refreshing drinks and enjoying the sunshine, it's cold, wet, and dark up here. blog.stackoverflow.com/2014/12/winter-bash-2014
> December Fling
that sounds horrible :P
@NormalHuman Good idea. Except apparently sorting makes the query time out even with the top 100. Damn. :(
@IlmariKaronen Maybe minView parameter, then. Same order, just better focus.
We used to have TG break Wednesday-Friday, so students left on Tuesday before that...
Now it's the entire week, so they are leaving on Friday and Thursday before that.

It always has to be day N-1.
@NormalHuman Yeah, we got one more day off this year, but I think people are going to leave the last day still.

@Doorknob "Bash" has the advantage of highlighting both out-of-control partying and out-of-control violence. Plus it makes Unix people giggle.
@EdCottrell sometimes posts like this make me want to go post random gibberish on other sites, knowing how amusing it can be for us on SE to see quality gibberish/wat posts...
@enderland Ha. Please don't. Or if you do, get more creative than that! ;)
@EdCottrell I'm a mod on workplace, trust me I know quality "wat" posts ;)
@enderland I know.
1:55 AM
@enderland It would give all of the other mods so much to talk about!
I guess it's impressive that got deleted at only -1 and not at -17
@EdCottrell tbh that's such good quality trolling content. You read it and don't realize what it's asking until you go through and read it again, then it's a quality WAT
@enderland True. Much more intellectually challenging than average.
Well that's creepy as hell

[ SmokeDetector ] Email in answer: Is this some sort of scam or do I have stalker? by user92410 on security.stackexchange.com
@NormalHuman OK, so apparently filtering on view count works... poorly in SEDE. I suspect the column isn't properly indexed or something. Anyway, replaced it with a MinScore filter, now it runs fine: data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/395429/…
2:14 AM
@JonEricson You should totally display "Winter Zsh" this year on the unix.SE-specific page :D
Of course, filtering on score is arguably much less useful, but it does have the notable feature of actually working. :/
Added date filtering, that works too.
So, the answers stackoverflow.com/a/32836607 and stackoverflow.com/a/32836700 are identical, the second was made CW; in both cases it's HTML but snippet doesn't add value. Hm.

@NormalHuman Are they both valid answers? If so, are the questions dupes?

Melpomene (/mɛlˈpɒmɨniː/; Greek: Μελπομένη; "to sing" or "the one that is melodious"), initially the Muse of Singing, she then became the Muse of Tragedy, for which she is best known now. Her name was derived from the Greek verb melpô or melpomai meaning "to celebrate with dance and song." She is often represented with a tragic mask and wearing the cothurnus, boots traditionally worn by tragic actors. Often, she also holds a knife or club in one hand and the tragic mask in the other. Melpomene is the daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne. Her sisters include Calliope (muse of epic poetry), Clio (muse...

What's the significance of December 23?
@NormalHuman Nothing else is before the 14th, so probably.
@Doorknob Day before Christmas Eve?
Festivus is both a parody and a secular holiday celebrated on December 23 that serves as an alternative to participating in the pressures and commercialism of the Christmas season. It has been described as "the perfect secular theme for an all-inclusive December gathering". Originally a family tradition of scriptwriter Dan O'Keefe, who worked on the American sitcom Seinfeld, Festivus entered popular culture after it was made the focus of the 1997 episode "The Strike". The holiday's celebration, as it was shown on Seinfeld, includes a Festivus dinner, an unadorned aluminum Festivus pole, practices...
