:D
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda did he just remove his account?
Why?

@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard oh. Yeah, he did but only on MSE and main SO, still has accounts on almost all other sites: stackexchange.com/users/20808/tim-post?tab=accounts

As for why, because of too many clashes with people, probably. Dunno.

That’s some very low quality spam.

12:30 PM
@ElementsInSpace yeah that spammer fails even in spamming.

It’s a sad attempt.

12:42 PM
Yup.
Spammer very active on Quora though.

1:02 PM
@ElementsInSpace this reminds me, I've seen somewhere a joke about low quality spam...

Found it!

Q: We need to improve the quality of our spam!

UndoRecently, I've noticed a downhill effect in the quality of spam posted on Stack Exchange websites. Take this as an example (found on Space.SE): There are a great many things wrong with this artifact: There is not one capitalized letter in the entire post. (-1 grammar point.) The only punctuat...

@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard lol
But you won't find Tim's keys.
No way.

hah
@ElementsInSpace hi, do you want to play with my Lichess bot?

With a bot?

Yep
I have two of them, actually.

@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard are they twins?

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda yup
You tricked me! @Sha I thought it was Elements who replied. :P
waiting

2:06 PM
@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard I’m playing Dune II (1992) at the moment.

@ElementsInSpace hmm, interesting.
Nobody to play against my bots... lol
I guess I'll challenge other bots, then.

What do they do?

@ElementsInSpace play chess and variants

Are they any good?

@ElementsInSpace yep, they are unlikely to get beaten by a 1600 ones
(sorry, didn't see your message earlier, because you didn't ping)

2:24 PM
@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard :-D
@ElementsInSpace awesome game, and read somewhere someone claiming that game is the inspiration for the new movie, which make sense. ;)
How you play? DOS-box?
Or is there version for Windows i.e. remake?

GOG probably has that runnable on a modern PC via dosbox

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda I play it on my mac.

@ElementsInSpace out of the box??

@ElementsInSpace .......

ah, this?
> Far and away the easiest way to run DOS games on modern gaming hardware is to install the RetroArch multi-system emulator. It has the ability to run dozens of different operating systems and classic hardware emulators. RetroArch is available on most platforms but you can also download and install it from Steam
@ElementsInSpace ^

2:30 PM
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda I downloaded something.

@ElementsInSpace RetroArch?
I used to use DOS-box but long ago, will check this new one if/when playing DOS games again.

RetroArch is very good, but I never used it to play DOS games.

tricking @Shadow so that he thinks that it is Elements instead Marco

Anyway, a good way to play DOS games is to run them directly on Windows 98, via virtual machine for example.

2:36 PM
Running windows 98 VMs is tricky
IIRC virtualbox is the only one that does it semi OK, and that needs a bit of tweaking too

Tried running some old windows on virtualbox a few years ago, but gave up. Linux is better :P

@JourneymanGeek why?
I will try to install it on VMware later

@Marco IIRC Vmware just won't, and there's no 'good' drivers for virtual machines on it like more modern OSes

strange, I'll try to confirm this later

@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard oh hi Space Peter!

2:43 PM
And if you install it on a different partition, that is, without using VM?

@Marco ah, neat! But won't install virtual machine just for that.

@Marco I THINK windows 98 won't run on modern hardware

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda ok hehe
@JourneymanGeek oh

If you had period correct hardware, sure

@JourneymanGeek I second that
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda lolol

2:44 PM
@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard \p/

(or close enough, the chinese are making these adorable little netbooks that are essentially XT or 386 compatible )

yay! I've detected a domain scammer in the Internet.
waiting for Journeyman to criticize this

I checked here, you can install it using the PCem (pcem-emulator.co.uk) or 86Box - (86box.net) emulators.

3:07 PM
@Petəíŕd The Spring Wizard why?
@Marco yeah, those are specific VMs for that :D

@JourneymanGeek nice!

IIRC they're 'full' emulators, but old x86 is slow compared to modern boxen so its fine

boxen?

plural of box, in a humorous fashion

ah
you meant modern computers?

3:10 PM
well computers in general
old box, old boxen

got it

like ox oxen, and fox foxen

ok
well, modern boxen = modern computers, so it's what I said :D

boxing all dem boxez

3:34 PM
@JourneymanGeek because you know, you almost always criticize everything

@JourneymanGeek Haha, thanks. Happy Tamil New Year to you too :)

chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/9824224#9824224: I tried using PCem but things didn't work out, I tested the 86Box and everything worked, this is a video from the emulator's own channel teaching how to install Windows 98. In fact, I'm finishing installing Windows 98 on it. I recommend the video and the emulator.
teaching how to install Windows 98 on it*

7:06 PM
@Marco nice!

8:05 PM
@Marco you can ping yourself if you remove all of that link except the message ID.

8:41 PM
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda later, if you know, please recommend me the best old Windows and DOS games.
@M.A.R. ok, thanks

@Marco well, what I remember, partial list for now: Bubble Bobble, Golden Axe, Heroes of Might and Magic (original), Super Fighter. Played all of those for many fun hours. :)

ok, thanks, later give me the full list please hahaha

Also Xonix, Digger, etc. I had one disk with all of them together, there was also something with bees, and with spaceships, and... Round 42 perhaps?

@ShadowWizardLoveZelda nice!

@Marco ah, that might be a problem as I don't remember! I recall while I think about it sometimes. But will try! ;)

8:49 PM
ok, no problem! haha
