+641 glitch in the matrix? ghost in the machine? uhoh fan clubery?
Well the votes on SX look like they will probably be automatically reversed. Could be fan clubbery, but could also be someone that hates you and deliberately did that, so you'd also get the -200 message later ;)

@tripleee kaboom
@cocomac don't be upset, that's his way to say "hi". :D
@starball that would zoom the entire screen though, poor @Jason has only the console being huge as dinosaur. ;)
07:29
@ShadowWizardChasingStars I wasn't offended or anything, just a bit confused. Thanks for explaining though, and Hello to @KevinB !
@cocomac lol all good, but I'm afraid you used wrong language to greet Kevin, need something in Toiletish. ;-)
07:48
@ShadowWizardChasingStars nope! if the current focus is within the devtools, those keyboard shortcuts will zoom the devtools instead of the webpage. At least on google chrome.
@starball huh! @Jason here is your answer, you asked how to zoom the dev tools. :D

@Tinkeringbell that's some pretty next-level system-aware trolling

Double David?
@JNat cross site spammer to the backlog, which won't be tiny soon. ;)
Smokey missed lots of spam from that user, weird. Oh well.
@DavidPostill your feedback is wrong. This is spam, it doesn't matter a bit how the spammer wrote it.
Spam should be marked as such and flagged as such, first priority. Really not relevant if it was written by AI.
SF mods are slow... well latest elections were 5 years ago, more than enough time for people to get tired.
Over one hour, super active spammer roaming free.

@DavidPostill thanks
SF spammer still alive with all spam or ChatGPT answers, in this rate JNat will nuke them first. Maybe rename the site to Spammer Fault.
13:28
OMG, spammer gone. Really thought they're going to miss that one on SF. Glad to have good surprises sometimes.
ChatGPT crap (which wasn't spam) also nuked which is good.
Now where I put those keys...
> Now where I put those keys...

> It's always frustrating when we misplace our keys! Here are some tips to help you find them:

> Retrace your steps: Start by thinking about the last time you remember having your keys and retrace your steps from there.

> Check common areas: Check common areas where you usually keep your keys, such as your pockets, purse, or a designated spot at home.

> Look in unusual places: Sometimes, we may absent-mindedly place our keys in unusual places, so it's worth checking areas such as drawers, couch cushions, or even the fridge!
Not a bad answer from ChatGPT :)

Information technology has always had a lot of hype around new developments. New tech emerges, piques the curiosity of technology enthusiasts, and optimistic speculation about the future begins. But sometimes when the technology gets field tested, it doesn’t always enter into wide adoption. Gartner even has a phrase for this process: the hype cycle.  We…

i mean, when you specifically avoid collecting data from users who block your ads, how trustworthy is the data for anything unrelated to ads?
@Feeds I was correct! When the author of the blog post has no title or "about me", their name will appear correctly in the onebox. Having either a title or about me would make the onebox show Ryan. SE bugs are wonderful, probably Marc or Nick doing, maybe even on purpose as easter egg.
Doubt any of the new generation developers are capable of such amazing bugs.

The clock towards removing reputation and privileges from Stack Exchange has started ticking.
It will no doubt happen, as when SE management decides the reputation system is broken, and "too many new users complain how hard it is to earn reputation", it means the only way to "fix" it, is to remove it.
They'll gather feedback now for few months, keep discussing this for few years, then arrive to the one possible conclusion. So... three years?
16:07
@Journeyman isn't this spam?
> i learned most of what i know/knew about this subject from these amazing people .. [spam link here]
Looks like spam to me, but one of the SU mods decided otherwise. I think they are wrong.
(also can't flag, probably because the mod messed up with the answer.)
(it's the above spammer, so they do have proven spam in the past.)
ohh I see what happened. It was deleted as spam (probably by Smokey users), then a mod came by, removed all the spam flags, and undeleted the answer, but forgot to unlock it, so now it's locked.
Total mess, that's for sure.

what happens if you add a bounty to a question, and no answers are posted within 7 days and the grace period? where does the reputation go?
@WhatsThePoint Nowhere. It's lost forever.
> What happens if there's no answer after the bounty period?

> If, after the end of the bounty period, a question has no answers, the bounty will expire and the reputation will disappear.
@DavidPostill thanks, I was reading this meta.stackexchange.com/help/bounty and it said "If there's no answer meeting those criteria, no bounty is awarded to anyone." but it didn't specify what happens to the rep

> The problem with Stack’s approach
Stack Exchange [...] awards various privileges based on your reputation score, which is calculated largely by votes on your posts.

This… is a bit problematic, in a couple different ways.

First off, reputation itself is wearing way too many hats. It’s simultaneously supposed to be acting as:

…a general indication of a user’s proven expertise on the site’s subject matter. (More simply put: It’s supposed to give you a rough idea of how much that user knows about whatever that specific site is about. A high reputation score on a site such as Math shows tha

Q: The problem with extrinsic motivation

Jon EricsonTL;DR: Stack Exchange favors standard, fast, and complete answers at the expense of novel, creative, and excellent answers. This bias results directly from reputation ratings, badges and other extrinsic motivations, which form the core of the system and cannot be removed. Therefore, the quality o...

Q: The Stack Exchange reputation system: What's working? What's not?

SpencerGHaving incentive systems to participate in online communities (like Stack Overflow) is not a new concept. Basically every Q&A site or forum has had some type of points or karma system, and they all work to varying degrees. But as we’ve seen, our system and community in its current state has a hig...

what does teams have to do with open source?
> A big part of the history of open source that overlaps with the user base for our survey is the love of collaboration: open source and Stack Overflow’s public platform and Stack Overflow for Teams product don’t exist without it!
i mean... what data shows that there's a love of collaboration, and what does that have to do with so for teams?
