@JourneymanGeek I've read that post several times and still struggled to understand it. I think I finally got an inkling of what it's about after the more recent comments, but I feel like it definitely needs some cleanup by the community to help clarify what it's trying to say.
"an non profit ISP run by a bunch of random folks" would be interesting, though :P
I can't confirm the issue, but I guess it needs a TL;DR, like: "WebSocket fails to load after failing to load blocked resources (e.g. e.g. due to corporate firewall) "?
I don't know why it takes so long trying to resolve them before failing though...
Because my previous company also completely blocked Imgur, but they just failed to load instantly without needing to wait
yeah, I guess that's the difficult part, whether the issue is on the OP's firewall config (why try to load for long time instead of fail instantly) or the SE (load profile pictures the last so that most functions should work)
This faq is a mess, @Sonic do you think it's worth to re-write it in the standard format? (e.g. like this one, where there is single answer with all topics)
It's too big of a change for me, but you made such changes before already.
@ShadowTheKidWizard I'm going to abstain here. While I agree it's a bit of a mess due to the split answers, I think the benefit of being able to link to specific sections here outweighs that drawback.
As an example, I frequently link to the first answer when someone complains about their question getting closed as a duplicate of a more general (usually FAQ) question.
@ShadowTheKidWizard In addition, I don't believe that answer is a good place to put the section on naming: it's meant to cover user behaviors and how they're different from other Stack Exchange sites or places on the Internet. I'd say it belongs in a new answer, if anything.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog yeah, thought about that too but used to single answer format so didn't feel right to do it. Also, would get buried down the list...
Would be better if the "messages moved" would be actual "chat banner" like the "1 hour later" saying something like "[user] moved [x] messages to [destination]".
As actual chat message it's both not very elegant, and let us do weird stuff like editing or deleting it.
@JourneymanGeek yea that's why I mentioned it. I would totally be fine with GD.SE's chatroom being more visible but I could totally understand why other places would want to chat to stay buried
Hmm came here searching Google for the horrible troll problem this site has, sad nobody seems interested in solving it. 90% of the questions i visit have rude or combative comments coming from the same 3-4 people, and it's been happening for a few years. — Darren Ringer14 mins ago
I was trying to defend my idea against Shadow's point :P make it accessible somehow so that is seems less arrogant... like through privileges or something
I didn't see any discussion alike and hence would like to check it out in case it is being discussed in the background by the fathers of the site.
Many pro's and con's, personally I dislike it (real questions, no real answers, no order, tons of noice), but the way that things go, there has been ...
And it's only police, if you need medical help it's 101
Of course they don't communicate with each other, e.g. if you call 100 and say you must have ambulance now they'll just say it's not related to them, maybe suggest you to call 101 instead if you reach someone generous.
