@Ollie Please note that replies to its reports also get posted as comments on the report pages themselves, so it would be nice to reserve replies to report messages if you have something to say about the post.
One of my considerations before asking for privileges in another channel was the impact on my ability to post tongue-in-cheek replies to SD reports.
(of course, you can always do that and then delete the comment from the MS interface if you have an MS account, a trick we often use in Charcoal HQ to point out posts that need more flags)
In a comment thread here, I asserted that "Bugs in a feature are not a duplicate of a different feature request in which someone requested the feature in an answer" and was told that "that's not how dupes on MSE are determined." Am I wrong, and if so, how are dupes on MSE determined?
@RyanM In general I try to not dupe against something else: so if it is a bug, I'll find a previous bug report. Same for FRs. It gets as bit more complicated if the bug is for an FR that has as an answer the same bug report. I also note that some try to get a feature implemented by calling it a bug. It is a judgement game and both the judges and the game are still out.
Surely a different feature request where the feature that's malfunctioning was suggested as an additional thing that would be nice in answer is clearly not a dupe, though.
There has been discussion about going back now that restrictions are mostly lifted... But I'm still not fond of the idea. Perhaps though we can have that next wave in autumn before ever having been back one day to the office!
I was mostly mysified, not actually offended. Still, I wasn't expecting that the OP would respond to my link to a related question by saying I should be executed...
Ok. (I have full delete privs on Astronomy). The OP has 1 point accounts on 3 sites, and has been a member for 15 months. I suppose there's no point deleting their accounts since they can just create new ones
I'd have to hack the interpreter to do that. And that sounds like too much work. ;)
Late last year I discovered sagecell.sagemath.org which lets you run Sage scripts from a browser on their server. Sage is built on top of Python, and plain Python code (mostly) runs ok on Sage. That server also lets you run Python, and a bunch of other languages, but it has a few annoying quirks.
But it's been fun because I can write & run Sage / Python on my phone. The server lets you save stuff by compressing & encoding it into a URL. So I can post small scripts in comments, and even chat messages, without having to post them to a site like pastebin or github.
Inspired by this question.
Currently the user flair on the /election [SO] page has no Alt-atribute. This makes it hard to see which users won an election when images can't be viewed for whatever reason, server outages or people that are visually impaired. Can we please provide an alt text to tho...
what I find more worrying for those election pages is that they all had their content edited but didn't fix this glaring issue ... missed opportunity ....
I commute to my office in my bike and after cycling 40kms, my clothes will be soaked.
I change vest and shirt but pants and underwear will be soaked which is uncomfortable.
I would like to change by pants and underwear too. But the problem is the only place where I could change is in the office b...
@Luuklag basically tell the people what the flush button is for. And if the waste bin is full that you don't continue throwing the used paper towels in the direction of the waste bin ...
@Tinkeringbell Is there something more nefarious about that post than is immediately visible? They seemed to be asking about the default SE avatars (Identicons).
I just noticed because I found the second question I just linked when I started searching... because I never can remember how those avatars are generated in the first place ;)
Viewing Google Cloud Collective, it says "View all 96 Members":
However, after clicking it, I see table with only 23 users:
Can this please become consistent, either way?
lol. I was procrastinating getting more contact lenses, so I was wearing glasses for awhile. I've found that if you pull the mask up a bit higher on your nose, up to about where the bridge is, and push your glasses down upon it, you can pinch the mask off and it should help prevent air from flowing upwards and fogging them up.
nah, didn't work for me. I do wear contact lenses, but taking one day off every week.
Anyway, it's final... the UX of the Collectives is terrible. As neutral observer, I'm totally confused, and it needs really lots of work to make it better.
(e.g. turns out the different members count is by design, something to do with the fact that the table updates only once a day and the number in the Collective page is live.)
The Borg are an alien group that appear as recurring antagonists in the Star Trek fictional universe. The Borg are cybernetic organisms linked in a hive mind called "the Collective". The Borg co-opt the technology and knowledge of other alien species to the Collective through the process of "assimilation": forcibly transforming individual beings into "drones" by injecting nanoprobes into their bodies and surgically augmenting them with cybernetic components. The Borg's ultimate goal is "achieving perfection".Aside from being recurring antagonists in the Next Generation television series, they are...

The point of a kick is to give you an indication that your behavior needs to change. If you find yourself being repeatedly kicked, it means you haven't made those necessary behavior changes.
@Wolf well, with me it is very easy: If I ask you to stop doing something and you said "ok" then I don't expect that same action to popup within the hour. So going forward maybe make clear that you understood what we wanted to stop you doing.
@Rob Anyone else thinks @Sha looks like an underage user in that picture? I find he looks much younger with a mask, and reminds me of a 12-year-old classmate XD
