@/meta how do you handle security exploits? i.e. how does one report them...I found a login exploit on a web app...I want to report it but it seems the agency doesnt provide a way to do so lol
@QueenieGoldstein You already asked that in The DMZ (under a different name?). I don't think Tavern is the best place to ask. Or do you mean it's for an SE app?
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog No, you did not? The last two flags of you that I handled weren't requests, they were telling me what you wanted a mod to do.
Sorry, I'm having a bit of trouble trying to understand. So you're saying, I should phrase my flags as "can you please do [x]?" instead of "please do [x]."?
@SonictheCuriouserHedgehog I'm saying you should leave the 'do [x]' out of it entirely. And yes, a 'please' and an actual question mark would probably do wonders too.
@Tinkeringbell Wonder why they are blocked for life ... They sometimes don't read a sufficient number of times, and then process the information using a short attention span. --- It's been clearly explained to use the contact link instead of pinging; with a lifetime ban there's but one way to change things.
@Rob I'm not sure what you're rambling on about, but no, Sonic is not going to get banned for life as far as I'm concerned. If there's stuff between you two going on, you probably want to use the contact link yourself and get a hold of someone that knows the history.
Very frustrating. I don't like being misrepresented. I'll leave it at that.
And now, for the weather! Overcast, with 40% chance of light showers!
@Rob In my experience, the contact link doesn't really work. It gives you a canned response as is the case with most companies (e.g. they mix up your case with someone else or don't understand the whole context). The typical "we have reviewed your case and after careful deliberation" stuff.
Amusingly, the one time I got suspended on MSE and sent a message to the contact link, they said I had already asked about my suspension as an MSE post so they saw no need to answer me in the email (which was ironic because, well, I was suspended so there was no way I could have posted). :D
@ShadowWizardisVaccinating I find people tend to blame me over things more often than not. I'm an easy target because I like pushing people's buttons. :D
(Admittedly I probably shouldn't, but it's fun! /s)
@JourneymanGeek Ironically, I'm never suspended when I'm pushing buttons, only when I say something that I genuinely think is fine to say. That's what I find most hilarious.
I'm a troll when I'm not trolling, and when I am trolling, I'm not!
I miss the days when I was so dedicated that I could shut down entire networks after getting b&. I was so successful. I've really let myself go. I've gone tame. :(
@Luuklag How do you know? It shows he has no posts.
They just added "I will NOT stop calling that degenerate a degenerate. Thanks!" :D
@Luuklag parenting.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/26969 (tl;dr someone was accused of being a pedophile, and rather than calling them a horrible person, they're using the term "a degenerate" right after calling them physically disabled. Obviously the person is a horrible person if the accusations are true, but that's irrelevant)
@Luuklag Would it be better to add another edit request or just straight up flag?
(background: I used to work with developmentally delayed children for volunteer work. The number of times I've heard "degenerate" thrown around was sickening. It's not just racist, it's ableist)
@ShadowWizardisVaccinating In the US it has very alt-right and nazi-like connotations, like "subhuman". At least when used as a noun (not a verb).
@ShadowWizardisVaccinating Eh, it's generally recommended to edit out potentially offensive terms.
On RC.SE, a post "father of X" was changed to "creator of X" to avoid sexism.
That sort of thing (although in that particular case, it was controversial).
@Luuklag Right, I used a custom flag. I think R&A is more for blatant attacks.
(Another example, although it was on another site's meta, was a user calling a malware author "scum" or something, which I also edited out. Another user also used that term, but removed it themselves)
Anyway.... as long as the father don't leave the children alone with the uncle, really can't see any problem. Might form some answer if I'll have time and other answers won't cover it. (The TL;DR is: "no need to ban someone for life because of past mistakes or bad actions")
@ShadowWizardisVaccinating Yeah it's a pretty simple case of "don't let them near him".
@Luuklag I'm honestly more irked at the other example on Security meta, but that's probably because I feel personally insulted by that one lol
Malware dev lives matter. :D
I don't know why, but I always feel dirty saying "malware". Sure, things like rootkits are malware but it always makes me think of low-effort viruses and trojans.
I guess "vxers" is a better term.
Best fan theory:
> The Jetsons and The Flintstones take place at the same time, with the ultra-elite 1% living in the clouds far above a post-apocalyptic Earth where the mass of humanity struggles to survive among mutated animals.
@TheforestofReinstateMonica not "near them"? OP said he has both a son and a daughter. Didn't read into it enough to check what the uncle "prefers", but likely both... No?
Honestly, this isn't really something that is a good topic for discussion ... at least not in a chatroom everyone frequents. Go talk on Twitter DMs or something if you two have to guess at workings of the mind of Uncle?
@ShadowWizardisVaccinating I'm thinking maybe the page didn't load correctly for one reason or another; I'll revisit if it happens again with a second screenshot; I'm fairly active editor
@Tinkeringbell I'm not sure yet but It might take a while to 're-hire me' so even if I end up staying here, I might have a month or two of 'unemployment'
@ymb1 fair enough, JS sometimes indeed get "stuck", then e.g. clicking the inbox will take you to the inbox on se.com instead of opening your messages.
(Hoping aws pans out, I'm not actually sure what my current employer intends yet and the company I'm contracting for might be able to line me up another gig, but no promises :D )
Hmm. I have a bag, blanket and stuffed animal to finish crocheting, one blanket to repair, and then I could do some gaming... it's not that much of a backlog XD
@JourneymanGeek That is one of my main reasons for taking a few days off: Just sleep in, for a very long time. On usual weekends I don't really get to do that as my parents seem to think 9AM is a fine time to start making noise.
(Though I'm not sure how much sleep I will get with all the rest of the neighborhood having usual 'work hours', I'm hoping ..... I'm naive XD)
Yeah, rhythm does a lot too. I can do 'wake up at 6:15 every workday' easily too, but only if it's every workday. If it's one day during a vacation (when I'm used to sleeping in)... I'm screwed.
Hahaha I didn't care much about dolls when I was little. I remember once getting a huge Barbie camper thing, and all I cared for was putting everything together. Never played with it after that.
Next year, it went to the neighbor girl for a birthday present, she loved playing with it anytime she came over XD
The flair for users in the revision list, for example here, shows the exact amount of reputation:
This is not consistent with how the flair works on (all?) other places in the site, e.g. under a post. There, the amount is displayed in units of thousands (k):
(or, in very special cases, millions...

LOL, I always feel like I'm a day off. It's like getting packages from Amazon they either arrive a day early or late but never on the actual day they are supposed to come.
Like there is a 50% I'm correct about what day I think it is.
@Spevacus Mostly it's the first line intro, and an explanation of their profession; it's not every female starting with "Mel" --- Meleena Mellie Melcia Melonie Melynda (x2), but not Mellyluise - "I am X and I am a professional photographer (or Illustrator).".
