Hi, I'd like to revive an old expired question on serverfault that I just got reminded of when going through my notes. It reminds me of the older times, it has a pretty wtf-worthy issue and screenshot, and at some point I found an answer, or at least an obvious way to deal with it. Anyone free to help me out?

Sure, yeah. These messages are typically worded in a fairly blunt way to convey the message of; "You broke a rule or two, this isn't a debate, stop (or come back after your suspension)"

You should be able to pass your mouse across them quickly, moving to somewhere else, without activating them; otherwise you'd get an eruption of bubbles everywhere (assuming all elements have a tooltip).

We've added a 300ms delay on all tooltips. Thought about making it configurable per tooltip, but ultimately landed on consistency being more important.

I'm working on web site in which a "ribbon" submenu pops up as soon as the mouse touches one of the main menu items. I'm trying to explain to the designer that it should wait until the cursor has rested on the menu item, and not pop up when the mouse just happens to pass over it. I'm not sure how...
