That remind me of that one species of bees (not sure it was bees but it was a close look alike, probably an hornet?) that was blue indigo...except i can't seem to find any info about it online (saw it on a book a while back)

They usually pour chlorine in water in certain places....though don't quote me on that :) it might not be pure chlorine but something close to it/derived from it. (like something that is bleach-like/based) @Aibobot which explain the after-taste

Check more images, those aren't necessarily representative; some of the bees are a fairly decent metallic blue.

I think it depends on the nectar, not the bee variety; though different varieties of bees prefer different flowers. - gtg
