@PopularDemand Castro lost out to Congress?
Also of note, for those who haven't seen it already. Surprised no one thought of that before, heh.
@PopularDemand In an interesting coincidence, it seems that Hugo Chavez is attempting to boost his popularity with the sci-fi/skeptics crowd by creating a cancer-ray conspiracy.

1:06 AM
Thanks, @Chris.

1:58 AM
@TimStone Well, he is retired.
(Thank you for giving me the opportunity to post that without seeming completely random.)

2:49 AM
@Moshe You're welcome!
I hope you found those to be as fascinating as I did...
In addition to being a game developer, Noel Llopis is quite a prolific blogger, author (he's contributed to Game Developer Magazine and Game Programming Gems), and speaker at conferences
He is also one of the co-creators of UnitTest++

Definitely enlightening, @Chris. I can relate to the struggle.

@Moshe The struggle to make money as a developer on the App Store?
Ah, no, probably the struggle to make a successful app on the App Store
Sorry, it's actually been a while since I read those in their entirety :)

6:27 AM
I love that graph
Yellow: revenue from in-app purchases from the free version of Flower Garden
Green: revenue from in-app purchases from the full version of Flower Garden
Blue: revenue from purchases of the full version of Flower Garden
I can see why the folks at Penny Arcade keep saying that free-to-play is an inevitability
The question, then, becomes how do we design good free-to-play games?
Also, an updated graph:

@ALL Moderator I have seen one room in StackOverflow chat that is unproductive and some user over there are chatting mannerless so please close that room chat.stackoverflow.com/rooms/6137
There some users are talking in the ways that is not at all affordable and they are not professionals..

2:06 PM
@Chris Yup, actually.

RAWR!

I agree.

I'm glad someone does. @YiJiangsProble has no respect for the "RAWR".

To be honest, I prefer the "7ZIP" myself. But I won't hate on the "RAWR".

3:43 PM
Ha! I see what you did there.

3:56 PM

Hahaha

@TimStone "Based on [company] (Information Technology Acceptable Use policy), access to this web site ( projecteuler.com ) has been blocked because the web category 'Uncategorized URLs' is not allowed." (I suppose I didn't have to @ you, but it's tradition now.)

@Moshe My first thought is that someone already suggested...that, didn't they? Possible I'm thinking of something else.
@PopularDemand I like to feel popular, so it's OK.

4:28 PM
@TimStone No idea, but if it was suggested, I'd gladly take the close "hit" and upbeat the original.

@TimStone how is the userscript update coming along?

@Moshe I thought about it some more and realized I might be getting confused with a proposal to add generic drawing features, to which someone replied to use things like what you were suggesting
@RebeccaChernoff Good! I just need to do a little more testing when I get home to make sure that everything is in working order and then I'll push it out.

looking forward (:

Then I'll start work on that notification management that Mrozek asked for a while back (I think you wanted that too, aye?)

notification management?
huh?

> yes, please! (: – Rebecca Chernoff oct 5 at 16:11
You said "please" to his request, that must be srs bsns.

what are you going to do with them? you can't simply completely suppress them...that'll hide legit ones.

Of course not, that'd be silly.

and whether or not the user is in the room doesn't help because the user could have subscribed but not currently be in the room...

Aye. It's going to take some thinking through.
I haven't gotten quite that far yet, so I don't have a good answer other than I'm going to try and figure something out.
@GraceNote also wanted some control over sound notifications, so that you could selectively turn off sounds for certain rooms, I think...wonder if that's doable. Sounds like both of these things would involve local preferences, which would potentially be problematic, but we already rely on localStorage for some things anyway, so meh.

4:56 PM
let's just get a working script again first.

Eh?
There's nothing broken about the script now, it just doesn't have an updater? |:

hmm, I thought you said you didn't have that part. shrugs

Lies. :P
But yeah, the only thing I was working on now was the updater.

oh ok
feels better (:

Yeah, I made sure to fix that as quickly as I could, for obvious reasons. :)

Q: Question answerers

DeanoRenoWhy do you have users who run around answering questions just for the sake of answering questions, with incorrect answers? The more incorrect answers a person posts should directly affect his reputation. Instead they are rewarded for simply answering the questions.

I was tempted to just answer that with something like "I like cheese" to confirm the OP's experience.

Well, you did a fantastic job.

@PopularDemand An answer questioner questioning question answerers?

I usually try not to get involved. But it irritates me when people scoff at and insult the free help that SO provides.

I feel like it's been a long time since we've had a good MSO post. And like the Tavern has been very quiet lately.

5:17 PM
@PopularDemand What's your definition of "good" for these purposes?

Something that leads to a productive discussion about how the network functions or some insight on how the system could be improved.

Q: Not repeating the same arguments for new beta sites

xiaohouzi79I have participated in quite a few new beta sites and find that many sites have the same arguments each time. Already with the new Chinese site I have been having an extended discussion about why software setup questions shouldn't be on topic (the main argument being that the Chinese site is the...

Q: Should Comments be trimmed on FAQ questions? Should Answers be Curated?

RosinanteWhen I see a question like Is English required on Stack Overflow?, I wonder how any person who really wants to know the answer is going to make use of it. In this case, I see three barriers to utility: The Chinese text is cute, but not constructive in presenting the issue under discussion to so...

Both point to a certain lack of easy-to-find, canonical, network-wide documentation
