(and I don't need it all the time so I just connect when I need to do helpdesk, and disconnect during the rest of my office hours. Or use my own laptop. And I end up using my own internet connection cause the work one is terribad)

@Magisch That does sound manageable. Things here are a lot more open: I sit a cluster of six desks and usually there's at least one where there's two people at one desk discussing things, and imprompty meetings in the hallways. And background noise from the other groups of desks
