Q: A Tricky question asked by my friend. I've been thinking about it for a while now and cannot seem to find a proper solution

Aaditya SharmaWhat if I offer you the 'God Pill'?You can have any wish granted after taking the pill, but after 20 days you will die (you can wish to be immortal,but the pill will still take your life in 20 days).Will you take the pill and what would your wish be?

THE GOD PILL IS DEAD!
Just mix some sugar in water and you get a proper solution, but who am I to judge gods?
Also that's a weird definition of God
THE POD GILL!?

Good morning
Time to open the custom flag chute on SO again

In other news, Article 11 and 13 passed. Now it'll be up to see how stack exchange implements dynamic upload filters
If I read the law right, then stack exchange will be required to implement effective upload filters that pre-empt users from sharing any copyrighted content
and could be liable if it fails to do so and anyone posts copyrighted content
I assume that they'd grab a lawyer that's in the EU to work out what to do
yeah
will be real interesting to see what comes out of that. A huge wave in the waterglass like GDPR is possible but also the end of user generated content on the 'web
@Magisch which would kinda ... suck
more likely most folks will ignore it until sued ;p
08:35
copyright vs fair use?
like, how many chatters are currently using a copyrighted image as a profile picture on this room?
@GetAnswerWizard fair use is not a thing when upload filters are concerned
I am, but I have a license to use this image
Technically my ava is copyright myself ;p
I paid an artist to draw it for me

Can't hear the train driver is from De Achterhoek ...
Slam FM runs an ad on those mansize screens on the station and the designer taught it was a good idea to use a color cycler for the whole background that even gives me a seizure.

Q: There is only s̶i̶x̶t̶y one place he can be

Arnaud MortierThis puzzle is not mine, although I don't have any reference as to where it originated from. I discovered it when I was a student, some fifteen years ago. It has been among my favourite chess puzzles since then. Could be very well known or a duplicate, but I couldn't find it in the database. The...

@Mithrandir quite like me then. We can share shirts. :D
@JourneymanGeek whoa, that's a big one!
@ShadowWizard yup
@AskQuestionWizard hehe, I turned from M to L. Guess these days there's something with L, isn't it?
errr.... weeeellllllllll
(i.e. no more only two genders like it used to be in the simple old days lol)
@ShadowWizard more that people didn't accept that people could be different in some cultures.
11:38
@JourneymanGeek even where they accepted, they didn't have terms for that.
And now while I accept everyone and happy for the changes, I'm totally lost with all the new terms.
@ShadowWizard They're people ;)
everything else, we can work out
12:04
Hehe, great, can't even talk about genders here. Noted.
@ShadowWizard I think we just did. Just that you got (hopefully) respectfully told you were wrong ;)
@ShadowWizard were you S before?
Mar 20 at 14:00, by Mithrandir
Please god no
@ShadowWizard and its worth remembering there's folks in here who may not fit in the binary, and telling that it was better in the "old days" probably makes them sad
Cause we're a community, and we watch out for each other ;)

(FWIW, I was not talking about gender/sex, but about the other thing...)
12:17
@GetAnswerWizard Shirt Size?
I've always gotten XL :)
The first time I saw talk about the letter M I thought it was in context to a recent Puzzling HNQ mentioning it
12:32
@JourneymanGeek flag isn't a respectful way to tell such a thing, it's a kick in the face. So I'll refrain from discussing or mentioning anything other than obvious fun stuff in the future.
@ShadowWizard Well the flag was rejected
Cause that's now how I thought it should be handled.
@ShadowWizard I'd only do that if the flag was marked valid.
In this case, it was deemed invalid, so it means nothing.
(Quick question: why was it decided to show 10k+ users when their own message gets flagged? I thought they were only able to see flags on others' messages, not their own.)
(Slow answer:

@SonictheWizardWerehog cause the system apparently dosen't know
that said, in situations like this - I've always felt that when its not something that needs immediate action, talking through it is better
we want folks to be aware, not frightened.
Or more precisely - "Am I going to hurt a member of this community?" over "Will I get suspended?"

Apropos of some Stack people leaving
ehh
also. 7 years is a long time
If its a amicable seperation - and it seems to be, sometimes folks just want to do something new.
Its really poor form, IMO to speculate over whether its over money or whatever.

Do moderators have some kind of manual, for example how to respond to each type of flag, maybe with references to Meta discussions or other things? If a manual exists I'd like to have it made public, otherwise I'd like to have one created.
Yes - /help/mod-flags on each site is a manual for mods on how to handle flags
@ArtOfCode thanks. Looks like it's not a public help page.
No, mod-only, with a note at the top that says "information for moderators only - please don't share the specifics in public"
if that wasn't there, I would
No need, it's enough information for my feature request :)
@AskQuestionWizard Have to. You start getting taken for granted after a short while.
16:22
This and this are the closest available on public Meta
17:16
I think someone posted a paragraph from it once
about marking helpful vs declining
much to my chagrin mods don't actually give feedback on flags. They only give feedback on whether or not it was correct to raise the flag, not on the outcome
Noun: chagrin (countable and uncountable, plural chagrins)
  1. Distress of mind caused by a failure of aims or plans, want of appreciation, mistakes etc; vexation or mortification.
  2. Synonyms: disquiet, fretfulness, mortification, peevishness, vexation1876, Louisa May Alcott, Rose In Bloom, ch. 8:
  3. [H]e alone knew how deep was the deluded man's chagrin at the failure of the little plot which he fancied was prospering finely.
  4. A type of leather or skin with a rough surface.Synonym: shagreen
my plan was originally to use the declined / helpful rate on my serial voting flags to tune my algos further by finding out what were FPs
But they almost all get accepted and the declined ones are mostly misclicks / human error, and of the helpful ones not all are actual true positives
so I have to go back a month later and sift through flagged user's profiles to find out if they were actioned at all, which is unprecise and more work
You use an algorithm to train humans?
I use an algo to fetch review items
Then I go by my intuition / experience on whether to actually flag
It's a ... manual process
Yeah, I checked you bot request in the SOBotics teams

Q: For what we're worth

humnI know i'm not person grata. But, please, lay off others. Well known, hacking down less desirables is a way of culling for purity. But it swells ugly. Please?

Puzzling.
Well. That was fun.

Meanwhile, SFSE have their own mini-discussion about Demographics of moderators
I expect a reenactment of this question probably in the next hour or so.

@Tinkeringbell well, I'm not sure if Cody is going to put of his mod glasses that easily

@rene Just bored, now and then :P

@Magisch it suits me :)
are you observant and noisy in real life too?
Yep! And most of my behavior is learned by copying others :)

@fbueckert you think it’s okay to replace the main question with “I’ll be right back with a better formatting “?
I think it’s worth a rollback
@MEEthesetupwizard Gotta say, that's the first time I've seen something like that.
Most people just delete and repost, or delete and re-ask a better formatted question.
@fbueckert yep. I was about to rollback but you saw that you did already.
