There are lots of people who are interested in TempleOS and Evan's questions -- which all seem very reasonable and useful and exactly the type of content I would expect Stack Exchange to want to create -- have collected a bunch of downvotes that don't seem reasonable.
I am not impressed.
You (collective not personal) are living up to his paranoia.
Wow, we gotta fix this
Bug report right here I think
So, here's the odd thing. What Evan's doing is entirely within the rules. Wasting your own time is literally fine, even if its an OS written by someone who... quite literally seems to be a little crazy . And here's the thing. Assuming good intent, and not arguing with Evan about whether this is a waste of his time, free or otherwise... is probably the most productive thing to do. I'm sure that if we engage constructively (or not at all), any issues we have will sort themselves out. — Journeyman Geek ♦ Jun 7 at 3:08

@SomethingBadHappened and I am wondering, now, if defending him was a mistake.
Other than that I'd have done the same for any other user.
Your comment is has good advice.
I bet the chat experts can fix this
Yeah it's really annoying, can anyone help?
01:56
I know it works ok otherwise
what happens when you turn off the addon?
Let me see...

@Somewhat apparently wrong term -_-
Shog9 helped me with my issue
Thanks
Making the text white seems like... a bad move
Yes,
Well it's the add-on I had
Made the background white
Which made the text not visible because the text is also white

Android.SE election might be disappointing... (1 mod step down, thus looking for 2 candidates, 1 invalid nomination removed, 1 valid nomination was self-taken down, currently 0 nominations, 5 days left)
04:02
so, free moderatorship to anybody who can get 300 rep in 5 days?
apparently 2 mods step down...
ugh
That's potentially pretty bad
since its a mature/graduated community, with a fairly important niche
ah, looks like there are 2 serious candidates (including the one who mysteriously deleted his nomination for now)
so, it only leaves 1 more nomination to get the election proceed

heh, if it's only nomination to proceed the election, I can nominate easily...
Needs to be at least three users nominating since there are two open positions

1 hour later…
06:40
@SomethingBadHappened pretty sure they would just withdraw nominations from people who got to 300 rep exactly for this purpose
Otherwise someone with time on their hands could get into that with ~100 suggested edits or any lesser number and a couple of answers
06:51
@Somewhat Other than Dan Hulme, which other Android moderator is resigning?
> Apart from Dan, elderatthis has also stepped down. Ibug and Firelord are contenders for sure
> Ibug already filled his nomination (deleted for mysterious reason) and answered while Firelord confirmed yesterday in chat
@Somewhat iBug was suspended here on MSE during the past year, and is as such ineligible to nominate. His nomination was removed by an SE employee.

@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog no. Bug report or feature request that have not been fixed/done can't be closed as duplicate (well, they can, but shouldn't) of another feature request or bug report that were marked as completed. This lower the chances of ever fixing that bug or adding that feature to solid 0.
What being asked by @Mad was never done. I didn't look in the dupe answers, it is not relevant.
(since the dupe is marked completed.)
So sorry, but I'm not helping to kill a pending feature request.
@JourneymanGeek yup, NAA on SO too.
@SomethingBadHappened you can't, you were suspended on MSE so you can't take part in any SE mod election for a year. (Since the suspension ended, probably.)
The system will let you, but CM/SE staff will remove it, as they did with Evan and probably others who tried in the past.
Suspension. Suspension everywhere!

@ShadowWizard funny thing is when we had openid, I had a spare openid provider "in case" that I controlled myself
@JourneymanGeek huh? Sorry, lost you on this one. ?
@ShadowWizard I think a lot of people still have a tender spot over twitter drama
@ShadowWizard It's not per se. The proposed target consists of two requests, one of which was completed (hence the entire question being marked completed). The question I linked to in my message is a duplicate of the second request there, which is marked in Taryn's answer to the target as declined.
@Mithrandir improved "rolling eyes" emoticon? :P
@ShadowWizard so I could set a disposable password on an account ;p
anyway, SE's account option has always been a bit of an afterthought
07:38
@JourneymanGeek of course, but it's on low fire for now.
If my linked question above were to provide new arguments or show awareness of that post, I'd leave it alone, but it doesn't do either, so the request.
@ShadowWizard eh, not really. We're still waiting for the official response and... its taking a little longer than even I'm comfortable with
@ShadowWizard GoPro has three models of the Hero7 camera: White, Silver, and Black - getting better, in that order. This one's a Black. If I get a white, I'm naming it "palantír".

Q: How much overall money does SE make through the Amazon link rewriter, and is it worth it?

Sonic the Anonymous HedgehogThis is not a duplicate of How much revenue does Stack Exchange make by auto-inserting affiliate ID into all Amazon links? as that asks about the percent cut of sales made through the affiliate program with Amazon. This question asks about overall revenue instead. As most of us active here know,...

@ShadowWizard You just put up a bounty
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog and got upvote
I was at 99989 before.
And Jon's office is frozen again. That's what you get when you don't put bots. ;)
@Somewhat which is one drop in the ocean compared to the art style regression that seems to be popular in American cartons. Maybe it is just a Carton Network thing, but yet...
hmm... I can star messages in a deleted chat room. Bug?
@Sonic I think you have better chance if you'll post a feature request asking to remove the auto-replace of amazon links, leaving aside any mention of money, and focusing on this being old and probably inefficient feature with lots of bugs. Not sure how much upvotes it will get, but pretty sure it will be received better than your current discussion.
@ShadowWizard I want the revenue number from SE.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog You won't get it.
(unless you'll get hired as SE management)
(or start working for Amazon itself and get hold of their database ;))
The title's impact is too strong before reading the finer detail about the bug
@rene why you stopped pinging? Only Journeyman asked to be removed from your list, but others didn't. No?

:D
Kaboom :)
Still at 99999. Considering undoing some old downvote to make it 100000.... ;)
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog read my comment. Clickbait titles should only be used to make silly jokes or undeserving content enter the HNQ list, never to try to advertise a real problem. It is pretty clear that asking the numbers there isn't the real objective of the question - the real problem is that the url rewriter module is poorly implemented.
Asking how much money the url rewriting generates is probably a provocation in order to implicitly ask if that money is worth the "damage" it generates too.
08:36
@Derpy I guess it used to work fine in the beginning, but with time Amazon probably added more kinds of links, and of course nobody on SE is there to change the code, so naturally it starts to fall apart, exactly like the apps do.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog But sadly it is also one very nice excuse for stopping reading the question at the title, downvote it and dismiss the discussion before it starts
You should know, you are on meta. What you say is often not very important... it is all about HOW you say it :P
And about people losing their keys...
@Derpy so damn true
It's actually very political

People can be strange, as whole. Just read about a city in USA where the city people elected a dead man to be their mayor.

Just bring up the twitter drama, it always work.
Think that could be enough to start a twitter fight claiming the hats are not inclusive enough?
Twitter is not inclusive enough...
@Derpy usually two: Christmas which is Christian holiday and Hanukka which is a Jewish holiday. They just often happen in almost same time.

Anyone ever heard of having a DoR and DoD per story when working Agile?
Door and DVD? Nope.
Definition of Ready, Definition of Done... and then they also put the ACC (acceptance criteria) in there...
@Tinkeringbell well, in the DoD you have criteria that apply to a story, if that is what you mean
09:40
TL;DR that third team is also not professional enough, in addition to being not nice? @Tink
@rene Yeah, yet for me the DoD is the same for all stories and includes stuff like 'tests are made', 'tests are done', 'code is written', 'code is peer reviewed', 'code is reworked', 'story meets acceptance criteria' etc...
check
@ShadowWizard That team is doing some really, really weird scrumming.
"scrum"
09:42
Also, we apparently poker our stories at the sprint planning, not at the refinement sessions.
So we just talked for about an hour about a single story, everyone now knows what we're talking about... and we don't poker it?!
