@HTTPS You mean /questions/ask/advice?

yes, either /tour or /advice
it's like there's nothing stopping them to post a question without reading any of the help center

@HTTPS People won't read the page if they were "mistreated" by their local McDonald's and are looking for a Big Mac at the car wash.

hello! Where do I ask for a request for a new userscript on StackApps? I know there are "placeholder" posts on StackApps, but those seem to be made by people who're going to create the userscript themselves, not by those who're going to ask others to make it for the general public

In general SE sites are not a job board or work order system. So I would say you can't ask that without any attempt on your own.

okay. "ask that" which site do I ask for this?

@GaurangTandon could you clarify more on what userscript you want? Usually the correct way is to just ask the problem (perhaps on Meta SE, or any appropriate child-meta site), and the answer might be a userscript (if it's possible)
... or just use script-request on StackApps shrug

ah, perfect
will check it out, thanks @HTTPS!

@GaurangTandon I said you can't ask that. You do know you have a tendency to formulate your responses in such a way that the burden of doing the work is on others?

8:38 AM
@rene well I do try to do the thing on my own first, but at the end of the day, I don't know SQL, so it never really works out :( Though you're right, I've realized this myself, that's why I've stopped posting SEDE requests on meta.se, and have postponed them all till I actually learn some SQL myself.

Okay, fair enough

@HTTPS yes ... back in the days there even was a localized Basic. It is highly confusing, specially if you're used to the en-US version of the formulas and can't come up with any logical translation. I always end-up using the illogical ones, sometimes that leads to success.

Hi @SonicWizard. I wanted to say thank you for your comment on my feature request about retags byt the tag creator.

will the SE developer who wrote Quack Overflow put it in their resume? Will this help them find a better job in the future? :D

@Martin You're welcome...how did you like my post that I linked?

I have read the post you linked to. Even though the bounty is unlikely to help with getting some kind of official response, I hoped it can at least attract more attention from other users and maybe some additional feedback.

@Martin Yeah, bounties usually do that, but not very many people check the featured list on the homepage because there just aren't as many bounties.
Bounties on bug reports tend to be a bit of a waste, yes, but bounties on feature requests can result in new input or alternate ideas from the community that ultimately leads to something getting implemented. I've seen quite a few feature requests follow such a path in my time. — animuson ♦ Jan 30 at 15:03

9:11 AM
Well, still it was probably at least worth trying.

@SonicWizard some people are still hunting for rep even in MSE, so bounty can lure them... but not SE employees, so in case of bug report or feature request, bounty is indeed usually pointless.
It can be useful for discussions or support questions though.

@ShadowWizard I said that in my original post.

Or just make a point as @Jermey is doing these days. (huh? Where's @Jeremy??)
looking for Mr. Banks under the table

> Finally, a little controversial, but purely my opinion: don't put a bounty on it. While this is a great way to get attention for questions on main Q&A sites, from what I've seen, it isn't a good way to get official attention for bug reports and feature requests, which means the bounty rep you spend would be wasted.

Mar 20 at 19:40, by Shadow Wizard
@SFTP so you say changing on private beta and saving on all sites bypass the 30 days limit?

The workaround with adding new account - and then being able to change username - no longer works?

9:16 AM
@Martin only if the new account is on private beta it still works
(didn't try it myself yet, but it makes sense, since @SFTP changed a lot, and this can indeed explain how. :))

@ShadowWizard Ah, but the truth is, I'd prefer that my username on other sites be "gparyani" only, so that trick is only useful for me if I wanted to set my name back to "gparyani" before 30 days expire.
And remain "damryfbfnetsi" on Area 51

@SonicWizard indeed, it's not useful for those with different names on different sites

(Anyone want to solve that puzzle?)

@SonicWizard this will forever remain, changing on "all sites" doesn't affect Area 51
(it's not Q&A site)

@ShadowWizard Evidence?

9:19 AM
@SonicWizard try and see ;)

It's not been reported. Please, no one report it.
Also, I don't want to change any names now.
I'm a hedgehog, not a duck.

Nothing to report, since Area51 is not Q&A site it's expected its profile will be different and not linked to the other profiles. If anything, the other way around would be a bug. :)

Area 51 is disconnected. Discussion Zone is connected.

@HTTPS true

Because my prof pic is still a generic identicon on Area 51, unlike on most of the sites

9:24 AM
@HTTPS yup, Area 51 supports only Gravatar, like in the good old days of SE.

@Adam was serious here:

An example of "produce quality content" thing not working since the network is growing and the questions lose attention very fast ducking down the list while such an answer is written xD

(the fact which also "helps" here is that any topic mentioned in answer has been covered by tons of the posts from the past and this can be said of 99% new questions on SO)

As a representative of the JS room, we don't endorse the use of ~~ over Math.floor

I believe that's right, @SFTP. as I mentioned, "any topic mentioned in answer has been covered by tons of the posts from the past". The new questions are flowing at the greater rates, while having their value dropping to 0 since the topics has been discussed already not once and not 100 times.
I've haven't been active on SO for about two years and after coming back found that it's even more difficult to find a question to answer than before, taking into account the fact that two years ago it was already difficult to find a normal question to answer.

user315433
I see. I misunderstood initially, thinking it was your post.

That's why we have to focus on closing the crap out before the rep farmers can answer it

user315433

user315433
But there are plenty of questions to answer on specialized topics, e.g., focusing on a particular library that isn't in GitHub's top 100.

The rare topics are hardly monitored and in fact users end up with the same output that you do if answering high-traffic crap and hence prefer the high-traffic questions for faster rep gain (i.e., reputation-reward-good-posts system is flawed). Maybe I'm wrong though.

For example, Socratic is 89 on all relatively new sites, but it will have higher numbers on sites that predate the introduction of that badge.
