@JonEricson Why did you delete that post?
Because the terminology it uses is disgusting and cruel.
@Catija It can be edited?
I want to hear from the one who deleted it, who is @JonEricson .
@SonicWizard If you'd like.

@JonEricson Why did you delete that post?
Sonic can't edit now because he can't see it.
02:16
@NogShine I can see it as I answered it, but I can't edit it. (cc @JonEricson )
Why is it worth saving? Even the answers don't take it seriously.
@JourneymanGeek also answered it, but deleted their answer before Jon deleted the question.
@SonicWizard Ah. That explains why I didn't see it in your questions. ;-)
@Catija Merely asking why someone deleted a post isn't arguing that it should be undeleted.
I said a similar thing on SOCVR.
@SonicWizard Ahh!
02:18
@JonEricson So, why did you delete it?
"Cripples" is the one that got me. But the deaf community doesn't see it as a disability and I don't think they would have any problem getting the joke. It's mostly visual anyway.
@JonEricson So it's not optimized for screen readers?
7 mins ago, by Sonic Wizard
@Catija It can be edited?
If I thought it were a) a serious question or b) funny, I would have tried an edit instead.
@SonicWizard It's an afd answer. I don't particularly care about the deletion and I didn't delete it.
@JourneymanGeek Ah, so I can't see others' answers if I answered a deleted question.
02:23
Seems more like a dupe of something.
@Catija It's asking three different questions. I'd argue for a "too broad" closure.
@JonEricson Can you please make a synonym of ? I've edited all the questions but people keep using the tag as the system hasn't burninated it yet.
@SonicWizard Done. Also, thanks for the suggested addition to my filter.
user202362
02:50
the word cripple is cruel?
user202362
that's like saying the term female is discriminatory
Maybe it's regional, but the term "cripple" is offensive in the US.
The following is a list of terms used to describe disabilities or people with disabilities that may be considered negative and/or offensive by people with or without disabilities. There is a great deal of disagreement as to what should be considered offensive. Views vary with geography and culture, over time, and among individuals. Many terms that some people view as offensive are not viewed as offensive by others, and even where some people are offended by certain terms, others may be offended by the replacement of such terms with what they consider to be euphemisms (e.g., "differently abled"...
Note, "deaf-mute" is also on that list.
user202362
blind is on the list too

@JourneymanGeek lol
@JourneymanGeek Do you really prefer not to end your sentences with a period?
@JourneymanGeek To aid me in knowing which changes you don't like, please tell me which one or more of the five minor changes I made resulted in your rollback.
08:57
"very minor changes"
there we are
I'd also add its frustrating for all involved when we have to explain everything that doesn't go your way.
@JourneymanGeek Without explaining why you don't like certain changes, I won't have enough info to decide whether or not to make a certain change in the future. For instance, you told me you didn't like edits that changed the flow of your posts, so I stopped making such edits to your posts.
> I'd also add its frustrating for all involved when we have to explain everything that doesn't go your way.
I don't like having to do that either!
Just tell me you don't like me changing "em" to "them" and I'll stop doing that.
> I'd also add its frustrating for all involved when we have to explain everything that doesn't go your way.
If I spend more time explaining myself that posting, its not fun
Time spent briefly explaining it: 1 minute. Time spent refusing to explain, me prodding you for an explanation(, and then optionally eventually providing it): 15-infinity minutes
09:06
But you don't need to prod
You can shrug and move on.
And its basically something that happens to muliple people multiple times a day.
I could move on, and then make further edits to your posts that you then roll back. The more you explain to me, the less likely I am to make an edit in the first place that you then have to roll back.
@PrincessLuna rofl!
What do you want: me making edits that you then have to roll back, or me not making edits that would fire off your rollback trigger in the first place?
@JourneymanGeek that's the one thing you keep failing to see/remember.... @Sonic just can't do that. :)
09:08
@ShadowWizard maybe repetition might work
@JourneymanGeek well, we try. :)
I don't "shrug and move on" from Eggman's ever-present plans to conquer the world.
Sure you can
Yes We Can?
@ShadowWizard Not even the real Sonic the Hedgehog
09:10
quack
@SonicWizard see, that's the kind of thing polite society does
we realise people see things differently without needing to be told how it is with a full interpretative song and dance.
"This didn't go my way" - "Oh well!" works
"WHHHHYYYY?"
annoys people
and eventually there's concequences - people might, say block you.
or just ignore you
@JourneymanGeek Gee, I wonder how people perceive it that way, rather than a polite "why"
@SonicWizard cause there's a lot of them
@JourneymanGeek I said "brief".
@JourneymanGeek A lot of what?
I propose you restrict yourself to one explaination of why something didn't go your way a day.
09:15
@JourneymanGeek I'm not just making an emotional rant when I ask why. I just want to know for the future. It's not like something "didn't go my way", I just want to know in order to avoid such a problem in the future.

Q: 3D Printing posts do not onebox in chat

SFTPPosting a link to a post on 3D Printing site, for example https://3dprinting.stackexchange.com/q/5736, does not produce a onebox in chat. I suppose it's because the chat does not expect there could be digits in site names.

@Glorfindel oh. Yeah, the digit in the domain most likely cause this, the chat onebox regex doesn't identify it as valid site/domain.
Related....

Q: Are there any downsides to starting a domain name with a digit?

@AlwaysConfused Well, it's not like you've been "gnatted" here :-P ... — πάντα ῥεῖ 1 min ago

@ShadowWizard He's almost answering (well commenting) with duplicates only at almost every site I meet him :-)
If @gnat will get dupe hammers guess this will totally escalate and become meme-able, but until then... it's still rare enough to not be a big issue. :D
@πάνταῥεῖ well, on MSE many times he choose wrong dupe.
@ShadowWizard He at least made it as a troll into the Software Engineering Meta site.
@ShadowWizard He's best at MSO.
@πάνταῥεῖ maybe.... good for MSO... ;)
I think I need two hands to count the times I told him "No, that's not dupe of [this other question]"... and eventually I just stopped commenting.
@ShadowWizard I think you're right :-/
@πάνταῥεῖ I do not know meaning of "Gnatted" and can't find simpler synonym that I understand. But I did not mind anything, after all you are all doing duty. Hold up...I'm about to answer this question as an A-spec person. meta.stackexchange.com/questions/308643/…
@SonicWizard Feel free to answer, I'm just disagreeing with that FR.
13:32
@SonicWizard Are you grasping what a "NeuroTypical Thinker" should be? Please don't leave me alone in dark and despair.
@πάνταῥεῖ I'm non-neurotypical and I feel well-equipped to answer the question.
@SonicWizard So he's asking about doing something for the non schizophrenic, autistic, asperger or otherwise "diseased" average brain holder or what?
@πάνταῥεῖ He says "non-neurotypical". In other words, for the autistic people.
@SonicWizard non-neurotypical doesn't necessarily imply ASD though
@PrincessLuna It's usually used in common colloquial language to refer to autistic people
13:37
But not exclusively.
@SonicWizard I "suffering" from asperger's a bit. And thus I generally disagree with silly FR's. They would change the things I'm dwelled with, and I don't like that.
For me the non autistic view of the world is atypical. I don't know why they should think in other ways than me.
@πάνταῥεῖ agreed
@PrincessLuna But take that with a grain of salt. I've developed to adopt and understand sarcasm ;-)
@πάνταῥεῖ how well? :D
@PrincessLuna I believe I'm at a rate of 98% :-)

I dunno if it's good or not, but some things I learnt since joining SE are "to have a thick face" (e.g. ignoring comment to disengage)... and soulless(?) (e.g. not saying "sorry" or "unfortunately this is off-topic" when posting a "welcome comment" on users posting blatantly off-topic posts because the fault is on them, not me...)
perhaps not "soulless", but "indifferent"
