If you work client side and have DOM access, the messages that ping you got their own class, .mention, so you can grab them and extract ID from it.

Stack Exchange thought the best domain for their internal chat is here, in MSE.

So they have like 10 private rooms, guess one for each major team.

You can see the activity in the chat lobby, kind of.

The numbers next to "users" and "rooms" on top are sometimes much higher than the numbers we see, and the diff is the activity in the private rooms.

Now they're quiet, probably most staff is away.
