If the user tells you "I get an error when I click the button", and you try it, and when you click the button, there is no error -- how would you fix that?
by reproducing bugs, one better understands its root, and as such, fixing them. cause some bugs are sneakly little fellas and only come out when the conditions are JUST right
@Manjot I think you're misunderstanding the word "reproduce" here. We're not talking about creating copies of bugs, we're talking about being able to see the bug in action.
if there is no bug, you cannot reproduce it. to reproduce the bug, there must be a bug, there must be a reason for the bug, and by creating those same conditions, the bug comes out again. and then. BAM. its squished.
wave would have worked just fine if it was an upgrade to gmail that was 100% compatible with existing email systems. If it was an "email upgrade" and not a new product we would all be using it now.
@YiJiang I wasn't able to reproduce this in Firefox 4 or 5 by the way. There was a very slight hiccup near the bottom-most message sometimes when autoscrolling, but nothing like you were seeing. It's not doing it anywhere else but chat?
@TheJourneymangeek people would have figured it out. I would love to have it available for my team now -- I have to look to other tools that don't work as well because it was never adopted.
I think in the long run something that looks very similar will emerge.
@TimStone No, definitely not. Like I've said, it usually happens after I'm away for a while and a number of new messages have been posted. I don't have reliably reproducable steps either
Just found another SE aggregation site - it basically just takes all of the data and wraps it up in different interface. http://www.streamreader.org/. It ranked higher than the AU question I was searching for, which is troubling
So as long as there are no votes on any of my zero-score accepted answers on Super User, I'll get the badge, regardless of any newer answers? (As it appears, there were a total of 5 eligible zero-score answers out of 23 eligible accepted answers at the time the last zero-score accepted answer was posted--six zero-score accepted answers with one self-accept, which is not counted).
I accidentally posted a question without being logged in with OpenID. Is there a way to associate that question with my account?

SE Keyboard shortcuts bug: The keyboard shortcuts were taking effect on a completely unrelated domain... gfosco.kodingen.com to be exact. very odd. @TimStone @RebeccaChernoff
I say a lot less due to the fact it's my name, my picture, and it will be stored for all eternity (and a tweet of mine came up in my last job interview)
it was really funny though... interviewing for a ".NET Developer" position, when they go "You tweeted this article titled 'Why we don't hire .NET Developers' and said 'this is perfect, I should work here.' why?"
believe it or not, I was able to salvage it... lol.
> Write a GUI interface in Visual Basic to track down their IP, find their home, kick down their door and demand they stop listening to Rush Limbaugh – random 2h ago
Somehow I hadn't seen that YouTube video that the comment oneboxer botched up the link to before..
> WASHINGTON — In a blunt challenge to Republicans in Congress, President Barack Obama insisted Wednesday that eliminating selected tax breaks for oil companies and the super-wealthy must be part of any deficit reduction plan.
> Directly asked whether he now supported same-sex marriage, aside from the actions of individual states, he said: "I'm not going to make news on that today."
> He pointed to eliminating the ban on openly gay men and women serving in the military, a policy known as "don't ask, don't tell," as well as ordering the Justice Department not to defend a law that defines marriage as between a man and woman.
@jcolebrand The Justice Department doesn't run the federal court system; the judiciary does. The Justice Department is in charge of law enforcement. So, the FBI, the DEA, that sort of thing.
@RebeccaChernoff Huh, I was almost certain that Return-Path would be the culprit, but it seems not. Or at least it has no negative impact for same-subject, same sender in a short time period (still shows up as part of the conversation).
> A resource that has an ID that is generated by the database must be created using POST. Resources that have IDs that are composite values in the ID that are known can be created using a PUT.
reckon the "can be created" really means "must be created"?
Oh wow, I just realized that of course my examples of Google Groups email (abridged summaries) wouldn't group, because the topics aren't exactly the same. Minor oversight on my part.
