@iDebug Because everybody has 1 rep on Android.

while waiting for the surveyor to complete his work, I went to shopping center to have a plate of food, now I have food scrap if the turkey is still lurking in the area

@Telkitty Have some chicken :)

user202362
apparently there is a whole clan of brush turkeys living in the area

12:45 AM
@iDebug Why were you asking?

@gparyani Just out of curiosity.

By the way, yesterday I got "too many requests" when browsing SE (with no VPN). I then enabled my VPN and routed my connection through the Netherlands (just picked randomly), and I still got the error
Also, should this question be an now?

Weird, when you get banned from chat.stackexchange.com you don't get banned from chat.meta.stackexchange.com?

different chat server

Kinda useful if you need to complain in vain about having been treated unfairly

@JohnDvorak much more entertaining in meta.

but also with more visible feedback

user202362
@EvanCarroll you need to upgrade your ban evading skills

2:39 AM
@Telkitty I'll have you know I have never been banned from Ask Ubuntu before.
So it was the first time my skills have failed me there.

user202362
I have not been banned anywhere for more than 12 months and I have been trolling everyday ... almost everyday, because occasionally I go on holidays and there is no reception deep inside the national forests/parks

@JohnDvorak hence... much more entertaining.

3:27 AM
@Telkitty I've been banned for years, and 12 months, and weeks, and months, and now a fortnight which I have to admit is kind of unique.

Q: What recourse do I have to demand un-attribution?

Evan CarrollI realize previously I received attribution for releasing my question -- content -- in CC-BY-SA 3.0. Now I wish to know of my options to have attributions removed. From the Creative Common's FAQ While you cannot revoke the license, CC licenses do provide a mechanism for licensors to ask that...

3:47 AM
@CrazyIvan guess I still am. ;)

user202362
4:09 AM
it's easier for trolls to get banned than for them to roaming free

user202362
@EvanCarroll like ... a grey hat hacker, who hacks all the times but never gets caught & the one who spends most of his time in jail, who is a smarter one?

user202362
not calling you dumb or anything ...

5:22 AM
@Telkitty I'm not a troll. I've never trolled. And, I didn't even know what trolling was until it was explained to me.

user202362
that's the saddest part - a man wrongfully locked up for most of his life

user202362
also no need to whine here, most of your tormentors are on holidays it seems @EvanCar

The last part seems hard to believe

Hm, I was quoted in How can we spend some effort on improving our overall activity? by iBug on android.meta.stackexchange.com

user315433
Didn't really mean to make a big public statement with that...

user315433
But it's also remarkable how the list of Android editors for the year fits on 2 pages.

user315433
That's all the users who made at least 5 edits so far this year.

user315433
I couldn't find a similarly sized site with a 2-page editor list.

I'd put a partial blame to myself... but I've experienced Stress Overflow when I got so enthusiast in moderating the site instead of just answering the questions.

5:58 AM
More or less

user315433
I'm an Android user who tries to know as little as possible about the OS... and certainly not feeling like repro'ing the weird things that people do with their phones.

I don't really go looking for stuff to fix
I fix stuff as I see it

user315433
@AndrewT. But you're not to blame for the list of editors being 2 pages... you are already on that list (of course), you can't make it any longer.

7:43 AM
Or about fear of topology

user315433
In mathematics, the notion of a germ of an object in/on a topological space is an equivalence class of that object and others of the same kind which captures their shared local properties. In particular, the objects in question are mostly functions (or maps) and subsets. In specific implementations of this idea, the sets or maps in question will have some property, such as being analytic or smooth, but in general this is not needed (the maps or functions in question need not even be continuous); it is however necessary that the space on/in which the object is defined is a topological space, in...

user315433
The 2018 being in Russia could be interesting.

And... searching for YCS userpic with reverse image search still brings up "Best guess for this image: 2014 fifa world cup" and related links.

user315433
I know it was a thing back in the day, but I'm surprised Google went along with it for so long.

@CrazyIvan specially if Russia is suspended from that tournament due to the use of illegal substances ....

@Magisch btw, it seems that even if Kaspersky is guilt in any way, the part about the "let's bring this classified documents home" was true.
seems the employee now has a name

1:54 PM
Ahhh
@Derpy Should've been ponies

@iDebug You do realize those are the human (EG style) versions of Celestia and Luna, right?

@Derpy not everyone is a brony ;p

a) as far as you know, I may be a pegasister.
b) I am not really fond of the word "brony" because it has been used with far too many different meanings.

Not everyone is a fan of MLP and its various spinoffs, official or otherwise? ;p

@Derpy I didn't doubt that narrative tbh
that was way too specific and way too outlandish for kaspersky to just invent whole-cloth

Refuge in audacity

> If it is too stupid to be true, then it is true
^ was in one of Murphy's law books

Thats what I mean. If they had come up with a cover story to plausibly deny their involvement, they'd have come up with something that was actually plausible and didn't make the NSA look like a badly run software company.

If it's too stupid to be true, it might still be "If it is too stupid to be true, then it is true" defied and refuge in audacity invoked.
You know, if you walk into a costume shop, put on a gorilla costume and walk out without missing a beat, how long will it take for the vendor to think "hey, wait a second, he isn't allowed to do that..."?
If you want to be believed, just concoct a story that nobody would believe, and everyone will believe it.

@Magisch but that makes the NSA and the US look bad ;p

@Andy you have high hopes for your Christmas wish to come true? :p

2:15 PM
@JourneymanGeek What doesn't?

@Stijn I can always hope

Hope shines eternal?
@JohnDvorak there is also plan B: Make a story that starts out with something believable and then halfway thru it throw in the most obvious lie. People already trusting the premise will keep on and trust whatever you say afterward.

Then an ace attorney comes and points out the lie.

2:39 PM
Does anyone have a handy link to the place to post sites that are scraping SE content without attribution?

there is a dedicated option

I reallly like this idea. It's almost like an un-favorite question vote that's only visible to the voter. It's not a downvote, which indicates something is broken in the question, but more like a meh vote, which indicates the voter doesn't care about this question for some reason. — Jon Ericson ♦ 2 hours ago

user315433
This sort of "swipe left" was proposed on math meta sometime in 2013, I think... back then, the answer seemed to be "question lists are cached" but maybe the new new nav with all the user-level customization can do better.

@CrazyIvan I assumed it's been suggested many times. I think we might have better luck trying again since this is the sort of feature that might be useful for Channels and Enterprise.

Anonymous
               [hide]

or alternatively, a new network-wide tag that is ignored (hidden) by default, but that makes tag a personalized item...
(I don't know what I'm talking about, and it's getting late, night~ zzz)

;-) Votes (especially favorites that can be included in search terms) are a better paradigm for this sort of thing.

user315433
5:59 PM
Or an option "hide questions I've downvoted"

user315433
Probably expensive because Votes table. And with a userscript, one needs a separate API call for each question to find if you've voted on it. :(

I mean, you can sorta do this yourself if you abuse favorites and add -infavorites:mineto your search string. Of course, it's the inverted meaning of "favorite".

user315433
I once experimented having a bot favoriting stuff on some criteria, to enable custom filtering by infavorites:userid (that would be one and only use of this search option: favorites of another user).

user315433
A userscript could do that easily, just send in the bot's API token. Hmm.

user315433
Cool, I'll probably do that: make one of sock-puppets my evil twin who favorites the questions I don't like, and include -infavorites:twinId in my searches.

user315433
6:04 PM
Better than storing the lists of ignored questions in local storage or Chrome's synced storage.

user315433
Since -infavorites filtering is server-side, one still gets 15 or 50 search results; unlike with a client-side solution that leaves you with a truncated page.
