Is there any 'helpful flag' weight given to the system that allows users to unilaterally delete certain comments (like +1 comments)? E.g. can a user casting their first flag unilaterally delete a comment that only says "thanks", or does the system only trust users with a Citizen Patrol/Deputy/Marshal badge? Or, does it give a sliding scale of trust? e.g. users with a Marshal badge can unilaterally delete comments with a lower weight/threshold?

There is a "secret" list of triggers that will make it so that a single flag can delete a comment. Starting with +1 is one of them.

Your flagging history is irrelevant, it just depends on whether the flag has one of the trigger items in it.

Q: Chatroom owners can star their own messages

I was able to star my own message by pinning it and unpinning it. Pinning a message adds a star, even to your own messages, but when the pin is removed, the star remains.

Hello. I believe to recall there is on some sites an extra page between registration and asking a question giving some instruction. Is this true or am I imagining it? If so what would be the name for it and is there some info on it somewhere?

The first four buttons' text is just a rough example; I built it at 2AM last night so I'm aware they're not the most topically-accurate

@OptimusPrime If you ask meta, it's not, but if you ask people who frequent the algorithm tag, it is (those two groups seem to be mutually exclusive)

from what I've seen the mods seem to give leeway to insular communities that have totally different interpretations of on-topic, like haskell or algorithm

but if you have replacement suggestions for some of the choices, I'm all ears

if you dig into my classnames, you'll see I lovingly refer to that button as gtk... gimme teh kodes :-)

On second thought that meta question is asking about a template for the freeform Ask page, and @JonEricson has said they'll be looking at a wizard regardless; I may just post it in a separate discussion question or something.

@ShadowWizard Regarding whether MedSci has a chance: I am positive, but before private beta I don't think we can tell. We've got a good share of quality questions, but the impetus has stalled a bit. It mostly depends how broad we can get the experts and laypeople to be, and how many participate. Right now, we've lost a bit impetus.
