I am leaving in less than 20 hours, I am still totally unprepared and trying to sort out issues/finishing things on my server.
user202362
and whining on the internet
user202362
I can't imagine how I could live if I wasn't allowed to whine on the internet ...
@Telkitty whine on the phone... ?
:D
user202362
I whine a lot when hang around with close friends too :p
You see? ;)

was going to book this motel, then read review: loud women in common open area, barking dog, dirty bedsheets, druggies in the corridor - quickly booked a secluded hotel instead ...
(err... I don't know what I was doing... but that's the end of the image series)
I think I got the address wrong, but the motel-chain seems... infamous due to the reason kitty mentioned

First day of semester, so exciting. Not counting part-time teaching as a graduate student, it's my 25th.
@Michelle early! Here schools begin in September 1st, universities begin only as late as mid October.
New student for you, or same students as last year?
user315433
12:30
New every semester.
I'm currently training my anger management by browsing MSO.

@Bart it is Ophra's Idiot week again?
So cruel....
/cc @rene ^
In modern English usage, the informal term idiot proof or foolproof describes designs which cannot be misused either inherently, or by use of defensive design principles. The implication is that the design is usable even by someone of low intelligence who would not use it properly. The term fool proof originates in 1902. The term idiot proof became popular in the 1970s. It may have been invented as a stronger-sounding version of foolproof, as the force of foolproof had declined due to frequent usage. Perhaps for the same reason, 'foolproof' is now a formal term, whereas 'idiot proof' remains informal...
13:12
@rene isn't that every week?
@ShaWizDowArd xD
@Bart I dunno, I'm not a massive follower of talk shows
Me neither, I just find myself internally shouting that at random people all the time
@Bart bet it gives you tons of sympathy from people...
13:28
@ShaWizDowArd oh don't you worry, I scream that at myself even more often.
@Bart That's how I feel at my job

I am still going to stay at this shady motel chain for the first two nights because I don't like to changing booking for variety of reasons. But I have booked 4 star hotel for the last 2 nights of the first leg for the reasons I mentioned above. In between, I will have to see how I feel like ...
^ Either be tough, or join the party...
@Telkitty be careful, seedy hotels are an excellent way to catch bedbugs
user202362
the chance of catching bedbugs from motels/hotels are small - it happens, but doesn't happen more than getting mosquito bites
user202362
usually it's uncomfortable beds, noise and temperature in the room/bedding that annoys me more
Except mosquito bites heal after a couple days
Bedbugs cost high 4 figures to get rid of

Q: How to completely be rid of bed bugs

Ceylon_17Living in Florida, bed bugs are too regular an occurrence. A visit to a bed bug-friendly environment - such as a hotel, dorm room - or from someone who has them in their home can easily translate to you having these nighttime, blood-sucking visitors. Have tried the dryer sheets placed on the ma...

user202362
I have never had problems with bed bugs before, but I had more problem with fleas because previous owner/tenants had pets
user202362
maybe I am not allergic to bed bugs
@Telkitty That's very possible
There are some people who get bitten dozens of times every night and never notice because the bite wounds themselves are too small to see without a big magnifying glass and knowing where to look.
user202362
besides I am a hygiene freak, I will thoroughly wash anything I took home after traveling
I got some once from a shady apartment I was in
And I paid a company to gas bomb the entire apartment 4 times
that got rid of them
user202362
14:19
I battle fleas for 10 months because freaking previous owner had a cat and a dog that he did not take care of
I'm pretty sure it got rid of every other living thing in there
too
user202362
I bombed place multiple times, paid someone to get rid of them
After the last bombing I washed the entire thing with high chlorine cleaning agent too
user202362
it's not until a few years later that they completely disappeared
I literally made poison gas in there for extra measure
user202362
14:26
turns out that I was also allergic to a particular tree in the backyard
@Telkitty ouch
How you found out?
user202362
I rented the place out, I only had red rash on my waist when I went to do some work in the backyard for a few days. Cut the tree down, never had the problem again. Cut it down because it's already dying
Poor tree...
;)
allergic to tree...

@Frank beware, @Telkitty might be allergic to you! :D

user315433
Come to think of it, I never saw straight bananas, they are all bent...
user315433
Maybe it's because the straight ones are all used for oil.

Might do more to increase the audience than plastering mid-size SE sites with podcast ads.

Would I make a good moderator? No, probably not.
Should you vote for me? Heck no! I wouldn't vote for me
user315433
> How would you deal with a user who produced a steady stream of valuable answers, but tends to generate a large number of arguments/flags from comments?

You mean me? ;)
Probably take the side of the person with the higher rep. We gotta have each others' backs...
user315433
Hrm. I wanted to seriously consider this candidate (the only viable candidate who's not already a mod), but...
user315433
Looks vaguely like Scott / Graphic Design situation.
