Breakfast, as I'm sure we all know, is the most important meal of the day. Meals being a topic near and dear to the heart of every Real Programmer, this seems like a perfect question to weed out the fake, imitation programmers...
So, please respond with your favorite morning meal. If someone has...
You know, me creating channels will eventually get these guys to either put a cap on channel creation, or make a script that cleans up old unused channels..
it's when you find yourself spending entirely too much of your time trying to make out what the invisible people just out of earshot are saying... that it's time to think seriously about getting some sleep. Those people are boring and repetitive, and you should know better than to listen to them.
"Whereoscope" is a tracking service for kids. It runs a background app on iPhones and will tell you where your kid is. The only problem, you have to buy you and your kid an iPhone 4.
Good luck with that..
Are there 'quotes' in chat?
It would be nice if I could put some sort of blockquote in here for posting in news stories or stuff
> What an insincere pilot of shit. I have two reasons to hate Dinner for Schmucks, but one of them is a hell of a lot more offensive than the other. The more egregious of the movie's problems really pissed me off.
> Whereoscope consists of an iPhone application that runs in the background (you’ll need iOS 4, which enabled background apps). During an initial setup process, you designate a handful of key locations, or geofences, that your children often visit — their school, home, a best friend’s house, etc. You can elect to receive a push notification whenever your child leaves or arrives at one of these areas.
There we go

How come some things in SO have hover effects, examples:

If you could go back in time and tell yourself to read a specific book at the beginning of your career as a developer, which book would it be?
I expect this list to be varied and to cover a wide range of things. For me, the book would be Code Complete. After reading that book, I was able to get ...
I'm trying to amass a list of programming books with opensource licenses, like Creative Commons, GPL, etc. The books can be about a particular programming language or about computers in general.
What are some freely available programming books?
@Android, if you scroll up far enough in Chat feedback, you'll see it started out life as "replied:"
which got shot down in flames by Jeff :)
he didn't like the arrow much either - the arrow is only for 'explicit' replies (via the gutter), and indicate that the post is (probably) not in response to the most recent message
implicit replies are created when you do a @Name - but they don't work 100%yet

I am trying to detect when a user has finished scrolling a web page using javascript on Android. The script I have is working on iPhone and seems correct to me that it should work on Android. Anyway, a snippet:

Jeff and I cleared the entire synonym merge queue (~150 merges/nukes). http://stackoverflow.com/tags/synonyms?tab=newest&filter=merge
All that is left is:
iphone-sdk -> iphone
And:
android-sdk -> android
I know this is a dupe, I don't care, it needs more attention and a bounty ...
Hm, what's the point of a question during upgrade that says "Continue without installing GRUB?" when answering No just prompts again? Why not say "Press OK to install GRUB"?
@LasseVKarlsen I guess to allow people who know grub2 is going to completely hose their mutiboot setup the ability to ctrl-c, while strongly suggesting to 'just do it' to everyone else
Hm, OK, still, a strange question if the only valid real response is YES, it should've been phrased more like "If you know what you're doing, answer NO here", and then default to YES
This is a common tactic to force people to read the question, if you just ask again if they leave it at default
Hm, for some reason this ubuntu machine didn't have Litmus installed, why did I have it lying around then?
