Programmers' town hall in session. We need some more participants!
@LasseVKarlsen We like you, and that's all that matters ;)

@TimStone Awwww. It's true though @LasseVKarlsen :-D
11:10 PM
Plus, I mean, @RebeccaChernoff has like ten million diamonds, I'm sure she'll let you borrow one.
@TimStone Diamonds are a girls best friend
Sweet! Answer #200, accepted. Nice.
11:26 PM
@Moshe yey!
Gah I hate when the boss wants to argue when I know I'm right and he's just nervous cos he's got too many irons in the fire and doesn't want me to disrupt old code (that I can prove doesn't exist)
Hm... is @drachenstern around?
Oh, hey, there you are, perfect. Aha, ahaha ♪
Apparently :P
I'm just here to give you a piercing glare for invading my dreams last night and deciding to answer a question I skipped over, subsequently earning 60 votes in 1 hour and 14 minutes.
11:27 PM
@drachenstern Wait, you can prove the old code doesn't exist? But know, I know what you mean...frustrating. sigh
If you have the reputation to, please vote to re-open this: stackoverflow.com/questions/4879835/…
Yes, I'm that good
@GraceNote I did? >.>
@drachenstern You did. It was mind boggling. This was before Cthulu rewrote genealogy and became my parent, though.
@GeorgeStocker Uh...but the question is not answerable in its current form!
@GraceNote I'm going to also guess that it was about five minutes before blood diamonds were discovered, but about 30 minutes after the space race ended, yes?
11:30 PM
@drachenstern No, neither of those. Just ridiculous votes on Meta questions and Lovecraftian enforced heritage.
Wow, it's been years since I've reread any Lovecraft ... I should probably pick some up.
Also, meta humor is not humor on meta, I've noticed. I should go for stark raving madness. Worked for Hawkeye
Doesn't make the first entry of Stack Exchange users into my dreams, though. Last week, I dreamed that I had to endure a chat argument between @ArdaXi and @badp. Not even sleep is escape from them.
Also: @ChrisJesterYoung if @GeorgeStocker has a reason for asking for something to be reopened, I don't mind obliging. I'm pretty sure it's because Prashant wants to revisit the question.
lol
try alcohol before bed next time ;)
@drachenstern Wouldn't that make things worse?
@GraceNote bah, you're applying sense to a senseless concern
11:32 PM
Hrm, I'm kind of torn on that question as well. I don't feel particularly right about voting to reopen unless he's going to give at least a little more detail. :/
@GraceNote Depends on how heavily you sleep after drinking.
Eh, it was actually entertaining in the end. I love my dreams. They're wild and untamed.
@TimStone I don't drink, so I don't actually know.
@TimStone I VtR on account of he says he is going to

@TimPost - congrats :)
@GraceNote then it would make things better overall
@ChrisJesterYoung THe reason I ask to re-open it is because with my edit, it is answerable (and indeed, it does have answers).

La la la la... la... (Sorry, I've got this song stuck in my head)
@drachenstern Alright, benefit of the doubt. Reopened.
@GeorgeStocker Very well.
@GraceNote Ah, in that case, starting for the sake of sleeping is probably not the way to go then.
Honestly, one of the things I miss the most about being young is having an excuse not to drink alcohol.
@TimStone oh well yeah, I mean I concur with that, but for a one-off it's not a bad idea
@GraceNote bah, you think you need an excuse? (this actually works in both directions ;) )
@TimStone Indeed. For now. We can always VtC later (altho if he doesn't move fast it will be VtC'd again shortly tbs)

Between watching my brother court the daughter of the Spider Godking, Popely ladies, and exorcising ghosts with David Spade, I'm pretty sure I really don't need anything to experiment with the alteration of dreams.
I bet the last one is fun

OpenSTV is the only 'open source' platform I've seen where the source code isn't available for download for free.
La... a la la la la... la la la la... la la la... I should probably stop now; my singing is terrible
Two PSE nominees are telling everyone in the THC to vote for the other person. This is one of the more confusing elections I've witnessed
@MichaelMrozek But but but...they're like a coalition!
How confusing it is depends entirely on which two nominees it is
11:50 PM
@TheRenamedException It might be easier to come up with a meta template or a custom solution for digests, instead of using chat; chat doesn't seem like it works very well
@MichaelMrozek agreed. The only reason I thought to use chat is oneboxing
True, that's a useful feature
I wish meta answers would onebox chat permalinks!
As is, I can just copy and paste permalinks. Otherwise I would ahve to reformat lots of crap
but any easy way to do it in a meta answer would be appreciated! I am open to improved ways to do it; I am trying to make things better, not worse :-)
What you need ... is a bit of jQuery that does the following:
create a frame on the right, to hover over the starred posts with fixed formatting (thus occluding the star list, since it's there, and you can ignore it) such that the frame contains the following: a label, a textbox, and a textbox.
label: "Enter message ID here"
first textbox gets messageID
onblur takes messageID and finds the dom element (using jQuery selector) and makes second textbox the HTML of the whole message element but HTML encoded so you can copy and paste into a spot on MSO
then it's messageID, copy, alt-tab, paste
you could even put in code that when you click on the textbox it will auto copy the contents to the clipboard for you
all-in-all, that sounds like too much work, so I'm not gonna do it :p
@drachenstern Not really, although I would rather work on the elections thingadongdong
11:57 PM
I actually have something I wanted to try out in Gaming's Town Hall...when is that?
@TimStone The flashing banner? Sure, I can still getcha that if you want it ;)
@YiJiang yeah but you see my point. Then you could quickly grab each element by ID (since you're already using that chatscript) and paste it into a message on MSO and group the answers as CW responses under each topic
@drachenstern sorry, this chat got really convoluted, as these Town halls tend to. So I am trying to parse and will read your novel later ;-)
@TheRenamedException lol
@TimStone No date yet, but it will be during the final voting stage
11:58 PM
@YiJiang Nah, I went a little farther than that, but the banner might work ;)
@ChrisF Alright, cool, thanks! :)
I have some time to finish figuring out why livequery is being retarded then.
