then, what's the beef?
Usually using a phone is more frowned upon when at school than laptops.

A: Can one or two emoticons be used in a PhD Thesis?

BrianDHallI highly value humor and love to entertain whenever I can. In formal writing, I would encourage you to go ahead and write something that you think would be funny. Then reread it. Then reread it again. Read it aloud. Read it silently. Read it again tomorrow while you edit it. And read it again. An...

> If I really like a joke, I'll save it for when I can make it in person, in a talk or in a presentation, when I can personally hear the laughs (or gauge the room and know to skip it entirely). Or I'll be funny on a website like this so I can wallow in a mass of glorious unicorn points.
01:04
wallow wallow
Night!
Night!
I wouldn't recommend it—humor can be included in a research paper or other formal document without resorting to emoticons. An example is the limerick in the ISO C++ standard at §14.7.3/7, which remarkably is normative text: When writing a specialization, be careful about its location; or to make it compile will be such a trial as to kindle its self-immolation.bwDraco 2 mins ago

do you guys hold elections for RO positions here? I heard they do that in some rooms
No. Sometimes various room members just find that they are suddenly and inexplicably ROs as punishment.
But only the truly horrible misdeeds get such a punishment
hurting baby animals, probably
or trying to devalue the unicorn dollars currency
Have any of you guys ever slept on a Sleep Number mattress and, if so, can somebody explain it to me?
04:16
@Quill Pssh. No. There is a monkey with a gun that wanders through once and a while and an angry bird with blue feet. They can defend themselves
This hotel I'm at has them, there's this little remote control, and nothing makes any sense. The mattress seems comfortable but... unpredictable.
It's like some sort of mutant waterbed.
I believe higher numbers are a firmer mattress and lower numbers are squishier
The remote has a numeric display, an up arrow, a down arrow, and a button that says "40" for some reason. But it doesn't stay at the numbers I set.
So it ranges from something like underfilled water bed to plywood.
Lol. Ok that seems reasonable, let's see here...
Are they air mattresses?
04:19
yup
but it's an air mattress with a DIGITAL DISPLAY on the pump
DIGITAL
That's why it's expensive.
Oh wait the room is a twin and they had the remotes switched.
When I jump on the bed it changes the number on the remote.

The best is getting in a hotel bed with your shoes on. It'll make you feel alive.

fist bump
This thing goes from 5 to 95 but it's already attained plywood status at 20.
I'm afraid to go higher. I wonder if anybody has ever been killed in a sleep number mattress explosion.
04:25
it goes to razor sharp at 95
Only one way to to find out.
(And if so I hope it was horror movie quality gore.)
Remember, if it doesn't kill you, you either end up with super powers or maimed for life. That's a 50/50 chance of getting the outcome you want.

Q: Is Donald Trumph a Grand Member of the Illuminati

user30792Last week Donald Trumph said that "Since we still have state regulation on our currency we can decide the outcome on short term" precisely as the Grand Member Mario Draghi said CEO of the European Central Bank. Does this implies that Donald Trumph a Grand Member of the Illuminati ?

[ SmokeDetector ] Manually reported question: Is Donald Trumph a Grand Member of the Illuminati by user30792 on skeptics.stackexchange.com
11:42
@Quill can you please point out the reason for that? Actually, I am unable to find out the reason in flag reasons :/
and its also because the question is on skeptics
Well, for starters, he spells everything correctly besides donald trump's name
except for the tag, which he spells correctly
and secondly the question is a brand new user, not that it's a clincher
and last, there's the assumption Mario Draghi is a "member" or whatever
anyway, I probably shouldn't have reported it :p
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
It might be off-topic for being speculation rather than a notable claim that he's a member, but yeah probably not something to report
the question has no reasoning
I would downvote and flag, but probably shouldn't report
umm.....that's what I was actually asking. What would be the flag reason, off-topic, too-broad, not clear?

@Pro so no way to revive Smoky now? :/
Spammers can be attacking SE in those very moments....
I don't have the account credentials anymore. And to run it from FOX 9000's account I need to change some variable values which is not worth the effort; if the server problems are fixed it will come back again.
@ProgramFOX oh, cool. Hope SE will survive....
Survive what?
the incoming nuclear winter
@ProgramFOX absence of Smoky, leading to waves of endless spam, of course.
14:43
Don't forget that SE has filters. And while Smokey is a very useful tool to catch spam, if a site cannot deal with spam themselves, they've got a moderation problem.
