TIL it's not a good idea to test small bits of JS in the console of a page with Google Apps Script editor open. Assigning r=0.1 crashed the page spectacularly; it's one of variable they use.

@SmokeDetector So, about that post... It's not spam, but it's very close-worthy. So, should that be a tpu? My druthers say "yes", but consensus?

user259867
I usually send ignore- so that it's not reposted if edited, but link remains for others to go and close.

@NormalHuman That's so wrong in so many ways.

Yes, but do we want "true positive" to mean: (a) only spam/offensive, (b) any close-worthy post, (c) any post with routine actionable flaws -- eg all caps on an otherwise okay post?
I vote for option b.

@NormalHuman this is the current scope unless it gets overridden, simple
@AwesomePoodles tp is "do we want to be bothered by this"

10:05 PM
@bjb568 You aren’t allowed to talk about scope.

:o

user259867
@AwesomePoodles With "u" it also blacklists the user, though. I think blacklisting should be reserved for (a).

FRAGS!

@NormalHuman fair enough. Although I think that particular user is unlikely to ask decent questions.

OK, don't move keyboard while in chat

user259867
@tchrist In what ways? The production JS is usually minified, so the existence of "r" variable isn't unusual. I'm surprised this didn't happen earlier.

meh, just use node

user259867
I considered doing this (on AWS), but then it'd be stuck with one IP. I like being a little more... distributed.

AGH NGINX CONFIGURATION IS CANCER
I can't even install the damn thing without literally running an undocumented configure script, sudo make install, fiddling with simlinks, and somehow using it at all requires sudo now.
All I want is to use http/2, but:
nginx: [emerg] the "ssl" parameter requires ngx_http_ssl_module
with no information on how to get the module.
Apparently I have to recompile with configuration options?
WTH is this? I just want an HTTP reverse proxy…

Yeah, nginx ....

10:24 PM
> lighttpd supports SSLv2 (disabled from 1.4.21 and 1.5 and onwards) and SSLv3 if it is compiled against openssl.
Wait what?
Is there no software that does the thing I want? I just have to suffer thru using the http 2 npm module with node?

You want to use javascript. There you have it. HTTP/2 in node. Good Luck!

But it kinda sucks.

Yes.

It doesn't reaccept ssl session resumption tickets.
It doesn't do OCSP stapling.

It is all open source, why don't you contribute those features to the source code?

10:29 PM
I don't know anything about SSL.
I just do green things here and not orange things.

Yes, you do, you know about resumption tickets and stapling. That is more then any network engineer I spoke on my last job.

You can explain stapling to a second grader.
Anyway, I certainly can't implement it.

Then you can only nudge other people to do it for you
Hmm, there seriously is no native code in that repo?

I guess not.

Yeah, I saw that :)

@NormalHuman wait a second - that isn't the case?

user259867
@ell Hi! How come you never review on SU or SO?

ell
Are chat rooms expected to be related to the site hosting them or not? :3
@NormalHuman I don't really participate in SE to be honest
I mean, I upvote and downvote questions that I find on google
I don't get any requests to review anything though
Rep doesn't interest me to be honest :P

you need to go to /review on any site you're on

lol

I guess then the answer is that I never knew how
and also that there are no benefits for me personally
of course this is selfish of me :3

yes

ell
But that's life :P
The cost in time outweighs the benefit

user202362
mysticial kicked me from lounge again, lol. now ban is set to 4 minutes (time for breakfast)

not 4 minutes is enough for breakfast

ell
@chmod666telkitty lol
what over? :P

@NormalHuman Unconscionale lack of separation in namespace and address space. How would you like it if a variable in your program could accidentally clobber its calling shell, or pollute that library's instantiation in other programs, or panic the kernel? Tell me that isn't tantamount to pure insanity.

user202362
@ell I called him an idiot, in retrospect of everything, he really is one

@bjb568 Only chimps fiddle with simlinks.

I am nginx chimp.

The browser console is meant more for debugging than for running programs, so it having access to the variables within the page scope makes sense. It was mostly me misusing it as a shell.

Well there you go.

use uncondensed milk!

user202362
that could work too, but I like the taste of sweetened, condensed milk in my coffee

ell
use regular milk + sugar or maybe use cream
maybe that would work

Just drink liquid sucrose.
